If we offered Xavier Bourgault (note the French ass name) Habs would have pay us Edmundson+++++ and they just might.
In mind of the french need, oilers would offer Borgenault and Bouchard and take montreals top D, plus a top 6 winger, cause montreal would do the deal - prospects are the most valueable pieces. Cost controlled, and many productive prime years ahead. And quebec connections, wich fans looove.

Joel Edmundson is not the difference between winning a Cup and not. You're acting like everyone wants him, but it's mostly just Habs fans trying to cram him down someone else's throat. He's not good anymore and made of toothpicks.

I'd rather give up Bourgault+++ for Chychrun than Bourgault + for the half-reanimated shambling corpse of Edmundson.
That makes sense. So What’s the +++

We have Lavoie too. I’m not ready to move Bouch.

But Lavoie + Bourgault should be enough French ass name to return a haul from the Habs :D

Oilers need a player with a shot. A sniper type. If that’s too expensive, I guess someone that’ll fight and can play a bit is also needed.
I was thinking about Kevin Labanc who has a hell of a shot but just doesn't take shots enough so you're not going to see huge goal numbers unless he gets motivated to take shots somehow.

I think that would maybe net Savard or Guhle . XB is a 1st rounder on the right track, so he would have the value of a top 15 1st rounder.

Savard would do wonders here.

Always liked Lebanc. He’s a bit small though and think streaky(?), what would the Sharks want?

Considering his cap figure, I have a hard time seeing Edmonton having much interest. Even at 50%, you'd need to find something close to dollar for dollar. So I'd suspect some sort of cap dump and a mid-round pick or prospect.

I know people laugh at the idea of trading for Edmundson but for any habs fan who watched our run in the playoffs, they know how valuable he was. Won’t put up points but he clears the front of the end, he’s good defensively, he will do that little dirt slash on the ankle when no one’s looking. Basically, he’s a pain to play against.

I get the hesitation but he was vital to that playoff run and for a team like Edmonton who has nothing, and I mean NOTHING, like that, I’d be all over it.

Not saying it’s going to cost an arm and a leg but maybe one of your A listed assets above. You’ll get 2 playoff runs with him so you get him next year.

Well, Im sorry if we Oilers fans are at it again, but I want a reality check from other teams, what to expect. And what could other teams possibly reaching out to.

There is no secret that Oilers need an upgraded defensive piece, and its in my opinion not Chuchryn - he is both to damn expensive, and we already have offensive-happy Dmans.

So if there is a trade, I dont make loopsided offers.
I make an A group, and one B group. If there is a trade, ypu could pick one from the A group and one from the B group.

one good piece of pie + another average piece of the pie that oilers would like to move.

Requests:
Middle 6 winger, top 4 Defensive Dman.

A
Dylan Holloway
Xavier Borgenault
1st 2023
1st 2024
Evan Bouchard

B
Jesse Puljujärvi
Kailer Yamamoto
Warren Fogele
Tyson Barrie
Derek Ryan

So, a D man and a winger for a A + B piece.
And no! A 1 st 2023+ something for a 3rd liner RW, or "a perfect 3rd pair D" is not on board.
One from each won’t move the needle on getting a proven top 4 Dman strong defensively.
if you want a true top winger who can score…one from A and one from b doesn’t get it either.

Yeh it’d have to be at 50%, not much value at 5M+. I’d do Derek Ryan and a 2nd + 5th if the Sharks want to load up on Draft capital.

You guys have some weird ideas about Habs D if you think Guhle is available in any way, or if you think Savard and Edmundson aren't fairly similar.

As if the Habs could deny a trade for the names Rápháel Lávoie and Xávier Bourgáult. We could get Guhle and 3 firsts with that offer.

We’re kiddin btw.

This
And part of the value is that you definitely can't find an equivalent package for 1.75M$ (50% retained, basically 2 ELCs) for 2 cup runs.
Imho Gavrikov is a better player albeit significantly less mean but he's providing less cost certainty beyond this year.
If there's ever a team that can use defensive help for peanuts, it's EDM.
Like the poster I'm quoting said, fans assume MTL want a ransom for him as if he were Hedman-level but that's just not true. I'm fairly certain MTL would be ok with a single A-list asset, and depending on the asset maybe add some later pick or B+ level prospect to top value off.
e.g. Bouchard for Edmundson@50% + 2nd
but 1st 2024 (lottery protected) for Edmundson@50% straight up

The Jackets seem to be the store you might be shopping at.

Gavrikov and Nyquist both available.

From the Jackets perspective, Holloway would be a great add. Or the 2023 1st. And your B pieces that you'd like to move all offer some utility. Puljujarvi is a big body that can hopefully better develop his checking game, Barrie could be huge for the Jackets PP (we don't care if he can't defend because the team ain't serious yet).

Actually only reason i'd trade him is because we just have to many left D and its taking away fron our younger core. Edmunston, Matheson, Guhle, Harris, Wifi, Plus in a year or 2, 2 more lefties will be breathing down their throat, Hutson and Struble

Jackets could do that but I think they'd prefer to hold onto one of their retention slots to be a third party in a double-retention deal. We have about $18m of potential LTIR space this year with Werenski/Voracek out.

For what he is (veteran second line winger) he's awesome. Super reliable 50 point guy, kills penalties, can play bumper or either half-wall on the power play, etc.

He missed the whole COVID-shortened year rehabbing an injury he sustained in the playoff bubble (iirc), had some rust when he came back but ended up putting up 53 points last year anyway.

Dude's been great for us this year. Really smart player, works super well with Gaudreau so I think he'd be a great fit with Drai.

Not an issue – they're easing Kent Johnson into it right now as well. Between those two guys, plus Sillinger and a potential 2023 lotto pick, the goal is to find two good NHL centers and fill the other two spots with Jenner/Kuraly. Not an issue if we have to move one of those guys to wing, even with the depth we have there. Makes it easier to part with someone like Marchenko in a trade for a veteran center if it comes to that.
I think we have a fair proposal here then. Wow. Someone get the GM's on the line and tell them we've worked out a trade.
