Value of: Trouba

What do you think Gudas likely asks for on his next contract?

I think it will be 4-4.5 million. He has been a middle pairing Dman for a few years now and chips in around 20 points...all at ES. As a reminder, Trouba was a high 20 ES scorer. And no I am not saying Gudas is the same, he is just a tier down at ES...so 1st pairing vs 2nd pairing...and of course Trouba has the PP upside that Gudas doesn't have. But Gudas would be a fixture on the PK which is needed if Trouba and/or Myers are gone.

This is tempting. It's inter division so it's always a little queasy lol. What's the offer without kulikov? Don't think we'd need to get rid of him since Barrie's on a good deal. Upgrade the picks if Barrie bolts?

I was thinking of adding a condition on the pick (becomes a top 10 protected first) if Barrie leaves for free agency, but we wouldn't take Kulikov back then or at least not at full cap.

Barrie+16th overall+2020 second+Ottawa 2019 third for Trouba+Kulikov+Rights to Hayes

I consider Kulikov a cap dump, if that is not the case I can either add a small asset or take him out completely.

Avs still have Johnson and Makar on the right side, no need for Trouba cause none of them are 3rd pairing.

I never claimed Trouba would be pennies on the dollar. But no one is paying the equivalent of 3 mid-1st rounders like what was just asked for.

They will get 1 very good asset like a top prospect or pick like #11, and then a secondary asset that can fill in now(like a Gudas), or a 2nd. They won't get 2 grade A assets back.

Stone returned Brannstrom and a 2nd. Brannstrom would likely have the value around #11....that's the A asset.

And I have said before, if Trouba gets back a deal that wow's me, I have no issue coming in and saying so. It does only take 1 GM to overpay. I personally wouldn't overpay in a trade because based on all his salary demands with the Jets, he wants big money. And I don't want the trickle down effect that will have on our young D.

You're referencing a deal made by a joke of a general manager.

Chevy will have his price met.

He may ask one amount from one team and another from a different team. His ask at that time was just intended to be a number that Jets would not accept.

His 30 pts were with almost no PP time. Actually it was 24 pts .... in 55 games, a 35 pt pace. At 5v5 he was top 5 in the league IIRC.

There is the possibility that Jets allow teams to negotiate with him and he simply refuses. He will get about 6.5 in arbitration this year. He could then go UFA. If that is the case, his trade return is less.
I said 30 something points... I am not sure what;s not clear about what I have said... he scored 30 something points and took your team to arbitration and I wasn't he holding out because of that? spare me breaking down his stats... I said he will ask for 8M. if you think I am unreasonable with my prediction... fine by me...

You talk as if that was a bad deal. But go ahead, tell us what that price is that Chevy will get so we can compare it to the actual return when it happens.

It's pretty clear that no one knows what direction the trade will go but it would have to be one of the three options:

1) 1st Rounder, Bluechip/A Prospect and a roster player

2) Top 4 D man with minor add if he's younger and isn't as established

3) Top 2 Center

One of those three will be what he fetches. Mark my words.

Two and three there has to be a paucity of. Especially those with a need for trouba and the cap to absorb him.

I think one ends up being the case but that “blue chip” ends up being the next tier.

And yet you said Branstrom +1st was a deal done by a joke GM. How is that wildly different than what you thing Trouba gets back?

And I myself said Trouba would get a late 1st(20-30)+ an A asset. I scoffed when people want 3 A assets like 11OA + Myers + Farabee

To be fair, I am sure that most Jets fans aren’t expecting a package like this.

One thing is sure; it’s going to be an entertaining summer for both team.
It's not that I don't like Trouba but I and I think most Flyer fans are rightly very high on Farabee and the 11th overall pick...originally someone had states the 11th overall and Myers for Trouba.....that to me is a fair trade...Trouba is all quality and you have to give up something of quality to get him....but let us be reasonable also.

I think a fair deal is the 11th overall + Myers + Conditional 2nd round pick in 2020 if Trouba signs long term, I also don't see the Flyers as a landing point though because I think other teams with more assets are going to come into play

Who do you see as a landing spot as Detroit fans offered us even less.

Having fun yet? Summer just starting and the playoffs aren't even over yet.

All I know is however it ends (even if he walks for free in a year) or whatever Jets get (assuming he's traded).......I'm pretty sure I'm going to be happy with the result. IMO, I'm more curious what Chevy does to backfill the top 4 RHD spot, what he does at 2C and the Connor/Laine contracts. Timing is everything in life, I'm not sure what Trouba will exactly return......I could see myself being pleasantly pleased or just satisfied.........but what I'm more confident about is what doesn't make sense. What doesn't make sense is trading him for less then the return we see at TDL for guys who only have 20 games under their contract......not 82 games. Some of the returns some have posted are less then what lesser guys at the TDL would get.....nevermind a young top pairing RHD. For the most part I'm just waiting patiently over the next four weeks or less Trouba debate will be over as far as the Jets go.

Also to be fair, there have been Flyer fans offering less than Trouba would get as a TDL rental. So, there have been bad offers both ways.

The return is going to be somewhere in between the two extremes. Myers/Farabee/1st in ideal return for Trouba, and a 2nd this year and 1st (lotto protected) for next year is the ideal trade for the Flyers.

The actual trade is between these.

Well Fans are not GMs. The 6th overall is pretty good place to start, the chances that you have an impact player right away is small and more than likely it is 3 to 4 years down the road. I don't know if they would want to give us one of their young defensemen but they have a ton of draft picks to offer up that might be very useful for us going forward. The 6th lands us a center to eventually replace Little down the road.

Trouba would make an impact next year for them. Any team he goes to he is going to have an impact. 50 points and 26 minutes a night. Not many players can do that. I get the idea you want to keep your draft picks and prospects but if you really want to improve as a team you have to grab a guy like this if he is available. You can probably sign him long term for 7 to 8 million a year makes it even that much better.

I would rather keep Trouba and sign him long term. But that just is not going to happen so I have to think about making the best deal possible to restock the cupboards I think.

Yup...having fun. Raptors won so it was a good night. And the Moosheads are 2-0 so that's great too.

We all know this is all speculation and don't impact anything. Having good convo's are great. You also learn to know what posters to avoid due to lack of knowledge, too much homerism(we all have some), or just wanting to troll.

And fwiw, lots of Flyers fans like the Jets as the 'West" team. We like the tough style, not surprising...lol.

The 11th pick and Myers should be a good start towards a deal between the Flyers and Jets for Trouba. There should probably be a third piece but it isn't going to be Frost, Farabee, Ratcliffe, or the Flyers 2020 first. Something like a second in 2020, or a lesser prospect like Rubtsov/Vorobyev, etc. The 11th pick, Myers, and Farabee is definitely too much.

I’m curious......in a general thread regarding Trouba why is so much of the conversation focused on the Flyers who if we believe the rumours isn’t one of the forerunners that Trouba would resign with......IMO they’re more of a secondary possible location. IMO teams that are more likely desirable by Trouba are Panthers or Rangers. IMO Flyers fall into the secondary group of possible locations Trouba might end up in like Bolts or Wings. Albeit all five teams likely are desirable to various degrees to Trouba for different reasons and all five have been linked to rumours in the past to Trouba.

Where are the Rangers & Panthers offers? Bolts offers?

Seen loads of Wings offers already in the other thread.
