Value of: Trouba

I said 30 something points... I am not sure what;s not clear about what I have said... he scored 30 something points and took your team to arbitration and I wasn't he holding out because of that? spare me breaking down his stats... I said he will ask for 8M. if you think I am unreasonable with my prediction... fine by me...

I have no idea what you are trying to say here.

Barrie+16th overall+2020 second+Ottawa 2019 third for Trouba+Kulikov+Rights to Hayes

I consider Kulikov a cap dump, if that is not the case I can either add a small asset or take him out completely.

At first I thought this was a big overpayment, but if tweaked, is workable to me. I especially don’t think Kulikov should be in there. I was going to do conditional picks for Trouba, but I’m not doing this deal without an actual contract in place for him.

Here’s what I think works:

Jets:
-Barrie (who the jets can’t re-sign with their cap space and will probably trad for a 1st and B prospect)
-Avs 2020 first
-Avs 2019 condition 4th rounder, become OTT 3rd if Hayes signs

Avs:
-Trouba (with extension)
-Rights to Hayes

Without being able to re-sign Barrie to a new contract. That is a pretty easy no from Winnipeg.

Yeah my proposal is definitely a bit of an overpayment, but I think yours is a bit to far in the other direction.

I wouldn’t expect the jets to take on a guy to then go and flip him. Avs would have to include a 3rd team or make a separate trade beforehand.

But regardless I think 2 firsts, a prospect and a high 3rd rounder for a guy you can’t sign who will probably get $8m/year

Depending on where the picks are and the prospect you may have the basis for a deal. But it would all depend on the actual picks/prospects involved.

$8 mil a year will probably be the going rate for a young #1 RHD by the end of the year. So, if that frightens you then you should probably forget Trouba and move on to a lesser defenseman.

If that’s the case and you have no interest in Barrie I’d offer:

16th overall+2020 first (lottery protected)+Ottawa 2019 third+Greer

So similar value to what an offer sheet would get you with the first round pick and third round pick likely being higher than what would be offered otherwise.

Jost can also be thrown in to replace either first round pick.

Just spit balling...

Ignoring certain obvious issues, how long are Flames in the conversation for a signed Trouba if our package is based on Hanifin and Hamonic?

I assume value adjustment is needed, but I leave that adjustment to Jets fans if the deal is worth conversing about.

Note: Hanifin isn't a guy that's normally available. We'd only consider suggesting him to bolster the right side and because I assume young top 4 for young top 4 is a respectful convo. I'm also only suggesting the idea of this trade under the assumption it's a classy move to send Hamonic to Winnipeg for personal reasons (and luckily, he might be a need in Winnipeg).

I would do the following deals for Trouba from the Flyers:

11th pick, Myers, 2nd round pick in 2020

11th pick, Frost, 2nd round pick in 2020

Frost, Myers, 2nd round pick in 2020

True top pairing D rarely become available. It's even more rare for a top pairing RHD just hitting his prime at 25 years old to become available. To me it's worth the risk and the Flyers are in a position to be able to give up some picks/prospects and still be fine.

I'd be all for the Frost+Myers+2nd deal as Frost could likely become our much needed 2nd line C behind Scheif and we could stop trading picks for them. Correct me if I'm wrong though Frost isn't quite NHL ready yet though

Depends on who you ask. Some Flyers fans think hes not only ready to play next year but ready to contribute right away. I would think he would have to come in with a pretty strong camp. Either way he will probably see some NHL time this year and certainly by next year should be ready for a regular role.

The picks are nice, but that's about it. I think you'd be out of the running pretty quick.

If the Jets can make the cap work I wouldn’t be mad at that.

Where does Winnipeg sign. I would hope that is a signed Barrie but I’m sure it would be worked out

I'd do it, but I don't think Trouba signs in Calgary so I don't think it would work for the Flames.

I'd do any of those. Probably take the 3rd one just to get players who are ready earlier, but it would depend on how the org views who could be available at 11.

You're going to get crucified by other Flyers fans now. lol.

See all the Jets fans jumping at those offers. Shows you how much of an overpayment they are. They won't get 2 A assets and a B...they will get 1 A...and 2 B's.

Yeah, i mean, different strokes for different folks, but im not touching any of those offers. If thats the minimum to get the covnersation started, im more than content to just talk to Minnesota about Spurgeon instead.

And that's totally reasonable. If you don't want to or can't afford the price, move on to a lesser defenseman.

Total outsider here, but i think the Flyers pass pretty quickly on all of those for an unsigned Trouba.
