I think Larsson and Klefbom were both better last year. Trouba might have more dynamic upside though.

The problem is that Nurse is still a project, so it's a big quality drop in the short term. No way Winnipeg does that. They're not rebuilding.

I would structure it like:

Trouba

for

Sekera + futures

Sekera can cover Trouba's contribution in the near term and the futures-value can come from other pieces.

As an Oilers fan, this is even better than the Nurse proposal. Davidson is ready to play 2nd pairing minutes. Klefbom-Larsson Davidson-Trouba seems to me like a great top-4 with a bright future.

Whatever deal is for Trouba, it's got to have someone who can cover top pair LHD, at least in the short run.

Don't be so sure. Jets don't have too much leverage. But maybe Caggiula or Benson is added?

The only leverage Chevy needs is having multiple teams interested in him. So far, thus thread makes it clear that lots of teams would love to get Trouba. I agree. Best offer wins. Chevy will wait till he gets his price. Jets don't need to win now, and Chevy has the backing of a tough ownership group that won't cave if the trade takes some time.

Going public doesn't change much of anything on the trade market. Chevy probably already has had talks with most teams. It's just fans that found out this late in the process. Overhardt hopes this will put pressure on Chevy to make a trade before Trouba misses any pay cheques. It won't.

Sorry Jets fans, Hamomic is going nowhere now. Should have made that trade early last season. Good luck getting proper value with little leverage. Would just let him sit and deal with it.

What has happened with this?

Has Hamomic decided he does not want be closed to home?

That would have to be really good futures. 30 year old Sekera is not landing you a top 3 young, mobile, mean D man.

This is a interesting chance for teams who lack top top RHD youth.
Would love for the Leafs to offer Kap + Corrado + 1s top 5 protected for him.

Myers + Burmistrov for MDZ + Read. Move Trouba to RHD, extend MDZ or flip him for a pick at the deadline, and protect 3 D and 7 F in the expansion draft.

I don't really have a clue how good Read is. Seems like you put the effort in though. As someone else said, something like this isn't likely the only reason he won't sign in Winnipeg. It could have been anything from playing with Stuart to not enough money. We won't know for a while, but it doesn't look like he'll be sticking around long term. He was getting like 20 mins a game on the right side with the Jets, but his partner likely cost him a lot of money on his contract AND hurt his development as he had to play super conservatively to make up for Stuarts dumb pinches.

He won't be the first or last player whose career is ruined by Overhardt's management.

...and remember, trade offers should be based on Overhardt retained, so keep 'em low.

Keep the offers as low as you'd like, but remember you have to beat the previous best offer or it's a waste of time.
