Tyler Myers would be the one to go, if he's ready to pass a physical and teams are willing to task the risk on him. He had knee and hip surgery over the summer and we don't know how he's going to come out of it. I don't want to lose Trouba, but if we do we better get something of similar value to boost our defensive core. Enstrom's aging, probably best he plays second pairing to take some load off of him. Byfuglien and Myers can hold down the right side with Postma playing 3rd pairing minutes. On the left we then have Morrissey, Chiarot, and Mark Stuart... yuck. Chiarot can be a serviceable on the bottom pairing, Morrissey hopefully develops into a top pairing LHD before Enstrom regresses.

Overall I'm not happy one bit the way this was handled if this was the only thing keeping him from signing with us.

Myers + Burmistrov for MDZ + Read. Move Trouba to RHD, extend MDZ or flip him for a pick at the deadline, and protect 3 D and 7 F in the expansion draft.

Hopefully the Leafs are in on this. Trouba and Rielly would make a formidable 1st pairing. Maybe something along the lines of 2017 1st (top 5 protected) and Dermott?

Chevy got very good value on Kane. To a point that most would argue he won that trade

Yes you could almost make an argument that Chevy won that trade.

Five quality assets for an overpaid sociopath who hasn't scored more than 20 goals since 2011-12 and Bogosian.

I'd say the argument is sound.

That's weird. Jets fans have been telling us all year that it's a done deal...
Oh well, at least we can look forward to their 6'5 generational prospect pot 50g this year.

Sorry Jets fans, Hamomic is going nowhere now. Should have made that trade early last season. Good luck getting proper value with little leverage. Would just let him sit and deal with it.

No problem. Travis does nothing to fill our need. Good player but there is no place for him.

LOL Trouba would instantly be the Oilers best defenseman

I think Larsson and Klefbom were both better last year. Trouba might have more dynamic upside though.

Am I crazy or does something around Trouba for Nurse make too much sense to happen? Maybe not directly 1 for 1, and one side adds something else. WPG has Myers and Byfuglien at RD already. EDM has Klefbom and Sekera at LD but only Larsson at RD.

I am guessing the Jets would have to take back Mark Fayne in order to make it closer to cap in/out since Nurse has two years of his ELC left and Trouba would probably require 6M to extend.

The problem is that Nurse is still a project, so it's a big quality drop in the short term. No way Winnipeg does that. They're not rebuilding.

I would structure it like:

Trouba

for

Sekera + futures

Sekera can cover Trouba's contribution in the near term and the futures-value can come from other pieces.

Whelp! A lot of Jets fans are probably eating crow now.

I don't blame Trouba at all for making it public. He gave Winnipeg an entire offseason to move him and he obviously wants to leave immediately. NHL players only have about 10-15 years to make as much money as they can before they retire. He obviously needs to showcase and develop his skills now to get paid. Trouba is just thinking about his future and believe the Jets aren't the best organization for his future at the moment.

Would Winnipeg fans be interested in something like Stone + 17' 1st + Tobias Reider from AZ? Assuming an extension could be made for both Reider and Trouba?

"Maybe not directly 1 for 1, and one side adds".......

When you say things like "maybe" and "one side adds" rather than "Oilers definitely add more" it just sounds like you have no idea about their values. There's no "maybe", there's no "one side" as if maybe the Jets add, it's the Oilers adding significantly.

He won't be the first or last player whose career is ruined by Overhardt's management.

...and remember, trade offers should be based on Overhardt retained, so keep 'em low.
