LEt him rot, at some point a team needs to take a stance and let a player waste a full year of salary, a lot of players would think twice from there on before pulling such a stunt.

out of curiosity.. what do you jets fans think of krejci.. i feel like a change of scenery (and more importantly, a change of system) would help him tremendously .. your team is so young and majority of your older guys contracts are up soon. you have the money to afford him and look like you could use a guy like him.. good on the pp, good in his own zone..i agree the money is a lot, which is why i would put this out there.

to jets: krejci (if he agrees to go)
subban
zboril

to bruins: trouba
stafford

again.. for curiosity sakes. just trying to think how both teams could benefit . is that enough value? the money makes sense . you would have two rfa goalies after this year maybe winnipeg doesnt want that? not sure.

Because I keep reading this I have to ask.
When Jets fans say we are sending a message to future RFA's by sitting on Trouba, are you expecting this to happen with future RFA's?

I do hope they let him sit out the season since the price asked is not likely a price I want Rangers to pay. Also I don't like his way of handling the situation. Letting him sit the season out does however affect his value negative no matter how you spin it. Not only does he show questionable personality; rather not play at all than play on the wrong side, something plenty of players greater than him have done. Also he looses a full year of development, no one will know for sure where he stands next season. And no, I'm not saying he will be lose value Yakupovilike, I'm just saying it's hurting his value.

Has there been any update lately or is it status quo as far as we know?

You haven't addressed a single thing I said, so why reply?

They really couldn't trade him given Myers' situation and sans a return they deemed to be suitable.
So they could not trade a player who won't play for them because they didn't know about Myers ?

They knew they were going into the season with only Buff, a question mark for Myers and No Trouba. They have known this all along.

They could have made more than 1 move.

Funny, you need to let the Mr. Dithers thing go. Chevy is doing what is best for the team. If that means taking his time so be it. The players do not get to dictate when management acts.

No, but management also shouldn't be surprised when players are unhappy with how they are treated either.

One of the great things this situation has brought to light is Josh Morrissey....I was really worried about his development after being a 1st round pick 2 years ago....But if he keeps it up (10 games is a small sample size) This kid looks like a top 4 LHD in the making.

I'll play along for a minute. I think it would have been foolish to trade him at that point. IF, at their year end meetings Trouba asked for a trade and he gave the same terrible reason that he initially spouted about that involves him not playing in the top 4 on the right side, wouldn't you have to assume that it's a ploy to get more money. Further, consider that was the actual reason, maybe Myers re-injures himself in training camp, has to have an additional surgery and is sidelined the entire season. Suddenly that opens up a spot in the top 4 on the right side. Problem solved for this year assuming the reason he gave was legitimate.

They KNEW they were going into the season with Buff, a question mark for Myers and a question mark for Trouba. Nobody would have thought that once the season started and he started losing money that he still wouldn't listen to salary offers. Once that became clear it sounds like they worked out a deal with the Leafs and then Trouba said he wouldn't sign there either which is why Dreger and Bob are speculating that all of Canada is out.

I have zero problems with how the Jets are handling this situation. If Trouba doesn't sign by Dec. 1 he sits the year. Not a problem because we have 4 years of control over him now and we'll still have 4 years of control next year. Will sitting the year decrease his value on the trade market. I think you'd have to assume that it would, but again that doesn't matter to the Jets. It just means that he's going to have to come back and play to build his value back up so that the Jets can get a fair return. It will be an interesting month for sure but the Jets hold all the cards. Trouba's only chance is someone stepping up with an offer the Jets deem as fair otherwise he's going to have to come back and play for the Jets... I just wonder when he'll realize that.

Hopefully he signs today while the Jets are in Detroit.

That is an easy claim to make in hindsight; however, given that Myers was rehabbing multiple surgeries at the time and that they had no idea whether or not he would even show up to camp (given that he was on the shelf), it would have been stupid for them to make a trade at that time and leave themselves with a right side that consisted of Byfuglien. You also don't know whether or not they tried to make a trade then and were unable to come up with a suitable replacement; it has been reported that teams wanted to trade forwards to them, but their need was and is D.

In thinking about Meyers, what is the difference? Trouba wanting out had nothing to do with Meyers. Really nothing has changed since Trouba told Chevy he wanted out. Not sure what Chevy didn't understand. Whatever offers Chevy received in the summer are likely to be better than the ones he will receive now. Chevy has backed himself into a corner where he has to trade Trouba in a few weeks.

It seems funny the only people who have an issue with how the Jets are handling this are non Jets fans.... :D

Worry about how your own teams treat their poor millionaire players and let us worry about how our organization treats our poor millionaire players :D

If Trouba doesn't want to play in Winnipeg that is his right! As per the CBA

If the Jets don't want him to play for another team in the NHL until he is 27 that is their right! As per the CBA

What you or I feel about who is right or wrong really mean nothing!

So lets stick to our armchair GM offers for Trouba and stay away from the it is Trouba's fault or the Jets fault BS.

I can't see the Jets trading him to the Rangers anyway. It's been discussed and there is nothing of need to come back from them.

Not exactly, Drouin wasn't happy about his role and playing time not salary.

If it's in the CBA then what Trouba is doing in permissible. It's not always the team that wins in this situation.
Playing time and role are his primary issue, aren't they? Then money...he wants to be top 4 and on his right side, but has Buff and Myers in front of him, and he is trying to dictate a situation that is not his to do so........play, make money, and see where it goes...he has gotten some real bad advice...real bad. Is Alan Walsh his agent??

I've said I would be okay with a very good LHD prospect and a 1st (many jets fans would not be).... But I only make that deal after Dec 1st....

Nobody is dealing anything after Dec 1 because Trouba is useless to them if he isn't signed before. Wpg can only do that if he is signed which may have been what you meant? And yes, if its a VERY good prospect that's about ready to play + 1st, that might be close enough.

A blossoming top-4 d on his second year of his ELC is of no need to the Jets? How have you guys lost any games with no needs?

The idea was to get a LD of equivalent talent to Trouba back in a trade, but depth D with a top 4 projection is our primary need as far as prospects are concerned. Trouba was going to be our 1RD of the future, but that's a bit muddled right now. We don't have anything outside of Morrissey for top 4 D under 25. It's pretty bad.

Yep D depth is horrendous. I've gave thumbs up to several proposals whereby we give up Trouba & a good forward prospect or player (no not Ehlers, Connor or Laine) for two top notch D prospects + maybe a playing D. We seriously need to stock up our defensive depth.

Thanks for the advice. If he hadn't publicly requested a trade and refused to sign the team could have worked toward a trade that would garner a fair return. Since he chose to negatively impact his trade value, they should refuse his request, make a one-time 6-year offer and let him rot for the season if he doesn't accept it. Then make the same contract offer at the end of the season, and eventually trade him on the team's timeline, not his.

Chevy is a pretty crafty GM regardless and is probably working on something that will come out of left field and to a team that no one expects. Hopefully he eventually trades Trouba to one of Boston or NYR's divisional rivals, so the fans of those teams can still watch him play often against their own team - since they appear so concerned about Trouba's current situation.

LOL - right about now I'm thinking the NYI would be very nice because there's been a few real irritating fans...

Nothing will happen. The Jets are just following the CBA. How many times do we need to say this before we stop getting the question over and over and over.

I think the fan proposals from the Rangers have been the best over the past 6000 posts. While not specifically what Chevy is demanding offers including Skjei and a top 6 forward is more than fair value and pretty tempting.

Was that offered though? We have no idea.

If that was offered before the season maybe Chevy wanted to see Skjei play a while before pulling the trigger. With the Rangers fantastic start maybe they would not offer that much anymore?

Status quo, he is not being traded to the rangers and he is still at home.

How about we trade you melchiori for McD instead, you seem to cherish "blossoming" players. Face it Trouba would step in and be one of your top players, and you are not getting him for blossoms.

Unless he is dealt to a team in tank mode
