Not exactly, Drouin wasn't happy about his role and playing time not salary.

If it's in the CBA then what Trouba is doing in permissible. It's not always the team that wins in this situation.

Where has it been said that this is anything about salary? His agent snd chevy haves aid they have never spoken about salary.

They aren't? They've got a player who wants a trade so they should take whatever they can get because they're stuck. That's the logic here, right?

Guys like Friedman and McKenzie are suggesting that Chevy's not taking calls and was recently quoted as saying he looks forward to seeing Trouba walk into the dressing room. Or maybe that was Maurice now that I think of it. Either way, I think what everybody should be reading into the situation based on available facts is that the Jets believe they can eventually convince Trouba to play for the organization, and are willing to wait as long as it takes. That said, there probably is such a thing as an offer too good to be refused. If Chevy received such an offer, I'm sure he'd take it.

If Chevy says to Trouba "I'm not trading you. Not this year, not next year, not the year after. Sign this contract or retire," what's Trouba going to do?

There is a part that should state, "Let's be reasonable". Trouba doesn't want to play for Winnipeg. He believes that he can be a top RH defenseman in the NHL. Maybe there are other factors as well. Trade him and move on.

Thanks for the advice. If he hadn't publicly requested a trade and refused to sign the team could have worked toward a trade that would garner a fair return. Since he chose to negatively impact his trade value, they should refuse his request, make a one-time 6-year offer and let him rot for the season if he doesn't accept it. Then make the same contract offer at the end of the season, and eventually trade him on the team's timeline, not his.

Chevy is a pretty crafty GM regardless and is probably working on something that will come out of left field and to a team that no one expects. Hopefully he eventually trades Trouba to one of Boston or NYR's divisional rivals, so the fans of those teams can still watch him play often against their own team - since they appear so concerned about Trouba's current situation.

Did Trouba negatively effect his value or did Chevy by thinking he'd sign ? Trouba had no contract asked for trade and told them he won't come back what did they expect ?

Best time to move would have been at the draft.

He gave Chevy 5 months (the 5 easiest months) to find a trade for him before he went public. Once it became apparent to him that Chevy was not going to honor his request he began to apply the only leverage that he has, go public and not sign a contract. And why should he expect Chevy to trade him quickly if he were to sign a contract? It took 3 years of Evander Kane requesting a trade, then him becoming a locker room cancer before he was traded. You think Trouba, who for his own personal reasons no longer wants to play in Winnipeg, is going to give up the only leverage he has, only to wait 3-4 years for a trade?

If they haven't talked about salary yet.. There are bigger problems for the Jets.

I am pretty sure they have.

That is an easy claim to make in hindsight; however, given that Myers was rehabbing multiple surgeries at the time and that they had no idea whether or not he would even show up to camp (given that he was on the shelf), it would have been stupid for them to make a trade at that time and leave themselves with a right side that consisted of Byfuglien. You also don't know whether or not they tried to make a trade then and were unable to come up with a suitable replacement; it has been reported that teams wanted to trade forwards to them, but their need was and is D.

The Bruins won the Kessel trade and TBD on the Hamilton one. Jets fans shouldn't be at all disappointed if the return isn't a 1 for 1 because in our two experiences the trades for picks actually really worked out well for the Bruins.

The reason jets fans are repeating the dollar for dollar for Trouba is just that, Chevy at the moment has zero intention of trading Trouba unless it is for equal value. Will that change in the future, maybe maybe not. In the end, Chevy will do what he feels is best for the Jets, if that ends up being lower value so be it, I will not lose any sleep about it.

I blame Trouba.

I am not angry at the fact that he doesn't want to play in Canada. Everyone has their preference. What pisses me off is the complete scorched Earth approach he's taking.

This whole "trade me or I sit" crap is an insult to the team and the fans. If he requested a trade and played until a suitable arrangement was found, fine. This whole, "we're not even listening to offers from the Jets" stuff really sours me.

He's coming off his ELC and expects the team to bend to his will......he can rot.

Then, of course comes the excuse jumping.

"I just don't think I want to play the left side and Winnipeg doesn't give me that opportunity."

Ah man that really ****ing sucks. I can see what he's saying but if he just waited, the opportunity would be there. Well it sounds like there's an offer in the works to go to another Canadian team.

"Oh uhhhhh no I actually just don't want to play in Canada."

..................well then...........

What hindsight they told Chevy in spring BYE BYE get us out of here quietly. Only went to the media when Mr Dithers did nothing.

So it was smart to do nothing but hope he changes his mind ? Not in my books.

You haven't addressed a single thing I said, so why reply?

They really couldn't trade him given Myers' situation then and sans a return they deemed to be suitable.

Jets are losing a lot of games at the moment yet they refuse to trade an asset (a very good one) because of stubbornness?

Even if you do not get exactly what you are asking for, they should still get close to what they want.

The longer this drags out and the more the Jets lose the asset diminishes imo.

The Drouin comparable isn't even close. Drouin wanted to play in Tampa and not the minors. Trouba wants out all together (see Hamilton)

That's the key word.

What if they don't/aren't?

How does 2 draft picks help us win more games this season?

I would have no problem with that return either assuming the LHD prospect was a blue chipper.

I'm curious though, why only after Dec 1st?

Shows future RFAs unless you want to flush 1 year of your career down the toilet you better negotiate a bridge or longer term deal with the team (Trouba won't even listen to offers)....This refusing to negotiate a deal in an attempt to circumvent the spirit of the CBA where RFAs are controlled assets until the reach UFA status is total BS.

It is more about setting a precedence for future contract negotiations then punishing Trouba and his agent...but costing them 5 million they will never get back is a nice little bonus.

I am pretty sure they have.

Here is what was said by his agent. Other interviews have indicated that the Jets haven't even had the opportunity to table any offers.... but thanks for coming out and adding in your facts to the story.

There has been no negotiation regarding the terms of a contract between our client and the Jets over the course of the last several months. The situation is not about money; it is solely about our client having the opportunity to realize his potential as a right shot NHL defenseman.

Let me guess there are rainbows and unicorns in you world as well. This is a business and the business owns the rights to an asset, you just do not give the rights to the asset away just so you can move on. This is an end run around the CBA. Sure trouba does not need to sign with the jets; however, the jets do not need to trade him either. So trouba has two choices, he can bury the hatchet in respect to what ever reason he does not want to be in Canada and play hockey for the jets or sit out until the jets decide to trade him or until he turns 27.

the NHL is not a free market system where you can quit your job and go work somewhere else unless you consider the KHL or European leagues an option.

Drouin was about playing opportunity and future development, trouba is about playing opportunity and future development. Ya totally different.:shakehead

It doesn't, and the only people that know what trade discussions have taken place are Chevy and the GMs he has discussed a trade with.

A vetted poster said the NYR had made a significant offer for Shattenkirk right before the season started. Significant enough to gather the entire STL brain trust to discuss the offer. In the end STL decided to stand pat.

What this tells me is that there is a team out there that is actively looking for a RD and is willing to make significant offers for those available RD.

The good news is all the Jets fans will get a good look at Brady Skjei on Sunday.

Everyone brings this up. We have players being injured left right and centre right now. We have called up three more rookies to join the team. Would Trouba made a difference, maybe, or maybe he would be out as well with an upper body injury. Guess what, Chevy is not doing what you want regardless if you post such silly comments on a message board.

You also do not have the reason why he has not been traded so your speculation is meaningless.

Jets have 7 regulars out of the lineup with injuries. This is costing them games. Your opinion is they should go out and empty there prospect shelves and future picks so they can win some games this year? Nice.

One reason the Jets are losing at present is that they have several regulars out with injuries. Trading Trouba won't solve a bunch of injuries. That is why they have a farm team.

Funny, you need to let the Mr. Dithers thing go. Chevy is doing what is best for the team. If that means taking his time so be it. The players do not get to dictate when management acts.
