For once a Trouba hit that’s guilt-free fun to watch.

And no, it doesn’t count as a headshot when a guy throws on the brakes and turns his face directly into a hit.

That's exactly it - have some f***ing awareness. Especially when there is someone of Trouba's reputation/history on the ice. The guy steps up on people regularly. This isn't a free skate, be aware and don't put yourself in the railroad tracks.

Was it a legal hit? There seems to be some disagreement on it, mainly on the fact that the head was the main point of contact. Some say that it makes it automatically illegal, some say it does not.

Was it a dirty hit. f*** yes it was, and by one of the dirtiest player in the league. And some in this thread are trying to give the dirtiest player in the league the benefit of the doubt.
LEARN THE RULES. This was a 100% legal hit. Head contact is NOT AGAINST THE RULES.

How anyone can argue against him hitting the head as point of contact is beyond me.
That has never once been the rule.

Picking the head? Sure not allowed.

Following through the body with the head coming first, such as this hit? Completely allowed and will be as long as hitting is allowed

It's not about using their shoulder, it's about hitting their shoulder or body, not head, as initial point of contact.

Just to be clear, sometimes some players will make mistakes and hit head. But, this one doesn't really look like a mistake.
If a player is skating with their head down then not hitting the head is essentially impossible.

Congratulations, you’ve just removed hitting from hockey.

You are wrong, as stated above.

Yet people manage this feature on a daily and weekly basis.
You can hit it on the follow through, not point of contact. There is video evidence in the thread of point of contact being the head.

You claim Im doing strawman and then you claim Im ridiculing people because they have empathy for an injured player. Which I havent. I'm ridiculing people who attack the hitter and calling the hit dirty.
Good point I retract that you ridicule people with empathy. I maintain, however, that you can be bottered by thehit, while not wanting hockey to be just shootout or even wanting physicality to be removed from the game.

Hit is clean, but it's another example showing an unneeded hit where Trouba's goal is to put another player on a stretcher. I'm just shocked he's the captain, because how can you respect someone like that?
If it's allowed and helps your team why wouldn't you do it?

No, they don’t. If I am skating directly at you with my head down infront of my body, please care to explain how I am to avoid your head?

The rule is talking about picking the head. Trouba did not do that. The head was initial point of contact, not main. Two very distinct differences you can’t seem to comprehend

Here’s some reference since you can’t seem to understand the rule

I sincerely hope you can see the difference

“Not through the shoulder and core”

“Majority of the impact”

“Avoidable head contact”

None such thing applies to the Trouba hit

Looked to me like Barron fanned on the pass and that caused him to hesitate momentarily and put his head down. I don’t have any problem with the hit, honestly.

Anyone who thinks it’s a dirty hit or illegal please go watch another sport. The NHL world is a better place without you trying to ruin the sport.
With your 37th post can you tell me more about the hockey world?

Its is actually.

"48.1 Illegal Check to the Head – A hit resulting in contact with an opponent’s head where the head was the main point of contact and such contact to the head was avoidable is not permitted."

Right there in the passage you quoted: “and such contact to the head was not avoidable”.

By default, head contact is legal. In order for it to be deemed illegal, you must positively determine that the head was “picked” and that the contact was not the result of the target’s body position.

You can be bothered by the result of the hit sure but that's not the people I was posting about. My post(s) have been explicitly about people calling this a dirty hit.

Why do so many players these days skate with their heads down & forward?

The problem with less physical play in the game today, means fewer players are ready for physical play when it happens.

These "skill guys" that come up in leagues where they are never touched is doing them a disservice.

Yeah we should really ban these "skill guys". Having skills is a disgrace to told time hockey.
