Nope. Jets wouldn't. Do some of you people actually read these posts or just go by the title?

Cuz Lawless who first reported this nonsense, at the same time, said the JETS DO NOT PLAN ON TRADING TROUBA.

Whoa. Take it easy. I seem to remember Hamilton getting traded when nobody thought he would. You guys have an abundance of top quality RHD. Trouba asking for lot's is a pretty strong indication of what is going on, and not filing for arbitration at this point is even bigger. So calling out posters for speculating right now is pretty lopsided. Infact, it's probably a 50/50 if Trouba gets moved

Trouba wasn't even eligible to file for arbitration, nor do you know what he's asking for, nor do you have anything to back up this '50/50 he'll be traded' other than an opinion based on made-up facts, but nice try.

Why isn't that considered nonsense as well?
How many times have we heard a GM say that they have no intention of trading a player but then trades them?
Nothing in this league is set in stone

Cool so the Flames will be trading Monahan and Gaudreau then. Good to know. :)

It's a start. Just add another prospect like Puljujari & it could work.
2 prospects (as Nurse hasn't progressed beyond that) & that unprotected 1st for a young, top 4 RD that the Oilers need badly.

There is no way that I'd take that deal. Nurse's upside IMO is in question, that aside Puljujarvi and a 1st alone would be a hell of a lot to pay for Trouba IMO.

Trouba is a 6'3" 22 yr old right handed stud.I have never seen a 19 yr old defenseman dominate a game like Trouba did in his first NHL game against the Oilers.A goal,an assist, and the game's first star.

I might consider PoolParty and an unprotected 1st.

Maybe

Do you think he will hold out from camp? What do you expect he will get in his next contract?

He's part of the World Cup of Hockey tournament that's happening before the season starts. There's no way he goes into that tourney without a contract. Too much of a risk.

I thought NHLPA have said all players without a contract will be fully insured ?

I would assume that the players contracts are insured. They may be able to get Trouba insured for a particular amount but I would guess that that number is no where near what a full contract would earn him.

Trouba's probably looking for a $35M plus contract. I highly doubt insurance will cover that. My guess is he either signs before the WC or sits it out.

This is untrue. It's already been stated that players without contracts will be insured at the NHLPA's expense.

Insured for how much is the biggest question.

Does the NHLPA insure a player for $10 mil or $50mil?

I would think RFAs will have disability insurance, in case they are hurt bad enough as to where they can't play for around $30M. The player will pay for the insurance, so if the coverage becomes necessary the benefit amount is tax free. So it real value is about $60M salary.

I would also think they will have some type of insurance on a partial lose of income. A $6M players hurts a knee and becomes a $2M player. The insurance would cover the different. Once again the player pays for the coverage, so it's tax free. So the policy would be for around $12m to $15m.

Why would a player play in the WC if they had to pay for it themselves? No chance that's how insurance works

You actually expect players to drop their own money to play in a nothing tournament with no history?

 What does his first game have to do with anything? He's really not in an position to be asking for a dime over 5.75 based on what he's proven in the NHL.

If it was my client, I would. Because if you pay for insurance with your own money, it is not taxed. Thereby, it reduce the level of necessary insurance to cover the loss.

After the WC, when the player doesn't need to take advantage of the policy, he sends a bill to the NHL / NHLPA for reimbursement of the insurance cost.

Trouba is a prima Donna with a big ego and is quickly becoming a distraction just like Evander Kane

He will get traded within the next 2 years, I'm calling it

Nope... but there are a few teams in desperate need of a RHD like Trouba. The compensation for an offer sheet from $6-7M at 5 years would be more then worth it for those team. Assuming they have the cap to slightly overpay.
