The reality of the situation is that WPG won't get fair value for Trouba, that's a given. That's not to say they will get garbage and some mid round picks either. Given the situation and circumstances WPG will have to settle for a deal that they normally would not have made. I believe most Jets fans do realize this but there are some delisional fans believing they will get market value for him, never happens in these situations.

Trouba should get more than Gudbranson. No doubt.

Yes but mostly because EG has 1 year before UFA.

Benning is an idiot

Dim Benning is no good!

and overpaid.

Not really. EG is a coveted asset and brings things that all traditional hockey people highly value.

Believe it or not, NHL GM's don't give a crap about Corsi and similar fan based stats.

Seth Jones?

When did he refuse to sign a contract and therefore was not going to attend training camp?

Not a comparable and Jones is better even if it was.

Is Trouba willing to sign a Seth Jones contract by the way?

The money issue was the reason people were using for him not signing.

If it was useage and playing on the right side, money might not be an issue, and he may be willing to sign a Rielly like deal around 5x6.

You could see his agent taking 5mx6?

If he signed that, he'd have more value than now. It's the risk of his RFA that makes it challenging to determine his value.

He's worth a great deal at $5m x 6 years.

Lots of pieces but nothing to help the Jets in the near term. I'd rather do the Gardiner+ trade that Leafs fans have been proposing as much as it would kill me to do it after the Leafs' fans schadenfreude over this Trouba thing

In my opinion Jets have to add in any trade involving Gardiner...he is a better player. Trouba is looking slower each year and reminds me of a young Luke Schenn, only a slightly faster version.

Who ever trades for him loses the trade in my opinion.

Haven't read the thread but Chayka has been calling on him this summer and the Coyotes have the pieces to get this done. Will appear in an article shortly but the thought is..

Trouba, Armia

for

Chychrun, Hanzal, rights to Rieder

With the trade request his value might not be that much, but with the uncertainty regarding Rieder's contract and Hanzal's health this seems like a fair deal. Armia is no slouch and Chychrun is basically a Trouba replacement on the left side.

I have tried to figure out a deal with the Coyotes that makes sense. Hanzal would help their defensive game a ton but Arizona can't move him. Chychrun makes sense but would not help the Jets make the playoffs this year.

Yeah moving Hanzal means Strome is forced into the #1 C role from day 1. And either Dvorak or Richardson are #2.

Coyotes also need to clear cap to be able to sign Trouba, I think Stone makes the most sense.

Here is my Offer, what do jets fans think?

Canucks trade Top Prospect Olli Juolevi, Janick Hansen, and a 2017 2nd
Jets trade Top 4 d-man Jacob Trouba, and gritty LW Brendan Lemieux. and a 2017 3rd Rounder.

Summary: The canucks managment is in a retool type mode, Trouba fits that mold perfectly, Young, talented, and ahead of the game than olli (who imo will be a top 2 guy in the NHL). Lemieux is a gritty guy who can replace a alex burrows in the upcoming seasons.

Losing Hansen really hurts, maybe the most consistent third liner in the NHL, but we need spots to open up for our youth, ala Virtanen

Hate the idea of moving Juolevi...for an older guy who is already moving on to a bigtime $$$ contract and isn't expansion exempt. Edler++ would make more sense for the Canucks...but i don't know what the ++ would have to be to make it work, and even then, it'd still leave them with a RHD surplus even if the Jets would go for it (and you could somehow convince Edler to move...doubtful).

Even if there's a deal to be made there with Canucks...they'd still have to do something about Tanev/Trouba/Gudbranson all RHD. Not only is that too much invested there and a situation too close to what Trouba wants out of...it would also make for a complete expansion draft nightmare situation. Which basically puts them in the same position as Winnipeg, trying to trade a RHD - and probably for an expansion exempt LHD for the future, or an expansion exempt young forward.

Doubtful they move the younger and newly acquired Gudbranson, so it ends up being Tanev on the market. And as good as he is, just like Trouba, it's a tough deal to make...especially at this time of year. It would also leave the Canucks defence extremely young and inexperienced.

It's just a huge amount of shakeup to be trying to make at this point in time, and may not even make the Canucks better for the now, if it's Tanev that ends up going out to make room. Or for the future, if it's Juolevi+ that goes out. It would be so many moving parts in the middle of training camp.

Which is really what makes a Trouba deal tough for anyone to really work out. There just aren't that many teams with the right type of assets in the first place. And even harder to get it done on a short deadline with those sort of high end pieces right on the eve of the season starting. :dunno:

Edmonton: Trouba, Copp
Winnipeg: Puljujarvi, Reinhart

jets fans are gonna say trouba only gets moved for a young equal value LD (Rielly,Risto,Lindholm etc) but that isnt gonna happen. Laine, Puljujarvi, and Schiefele could make up the best line in hockey in a couple years. Reinhart could still develop into a 2nd pairing dman.
Edmontons adds Trouba to a suddenly solid top 4 with Klefbom,Sekera and Larsson

Edler ++? is the plus horvat/boeser and a good pick?
why would the jets get 10 years older?

No chance is PoolParty getting traded now that Halls gone. There's also no chance a player that wants more than he's worth, and requests a trade ever returns a top prospect

Just a remainder, sometimes it is better to take the full sunkcost then trade for scraps. So if Jets don´t get a deal they like, they probobly just gonna let Trouba sit out. Why help someone for nothing? It makes more harm to Jets...

Winnipeg
  • Jets trade Trouba and Lemieux to the Flyers for Del Zotto and Provorov.
  • The Jets LD is Enstrom, Del Zotto and either Provorov or Morrissey on 3rd pair while the other ripens on the Moose. Del Zotto doesn't require Vegas protection as he is a UFA at seasons end. Jets protect 7F/3D. He could walk leaving room for Provorov and Morrissey in 2017. Or resign in Winnipeg perhaps?
  • The Flyers get a desperately needed top RHD and Flyer fans would likely love the way Lemieux plays.
