No its not. Thats ridicolous. Trouba is alot better than Nurse. Sure Pulju is alot better than Armia but comparing it to Nurse and Yak for Trouba and Laine is laughable

The only thing laughable, is thinking that Edmonton's going to move players for Trouba right now.

If Trouba signed a long term deal, like Larsson's, at $4.167m for the next five, I could see teams lining up.

His contract situation makes him somewhat untradeable. I can't see a team giving up any real assets until he comes to an agreement on a contract.

Trouba wants to move to another market, and it's not just because of positional options. I have my doubts that he'd want to play in the Edmonton market, either. I think he's angling to play in the USA. I have a hunch that Chevy would have found a trade with the Oilers but Trouba and his agent indicated they wouldn't like to play there, and the Oilers subsequently found a trade with NJ that worked well for them.

He wants to be in the top 4, which he could in Winnipeg if he was willing to play left d.

He only wants to play right d, which makes it more difficult to be a top 4 d.

Many d men are asked to play their off side and do it with nary a peep.

I'm beginning to believe he just wants out but wanted to put lipstick on a pig by making it look like the big bad Jets were trying to ruin his future.

If he wants to be a top 4 right d in Winnipeg, then outplay Myers, which I'm not convinced he has.

Ultimately if Chevy can get a good left d out of this deal then Trouba can go.

Sekera + 1st is the most I'd offer as an Oil fan. Might be a different story if his agent weren't such a hard ass, but I have to think he's looking for 5.5-6 per. He seems to want to be paid for his potential ceiling, but only showing occasional flashes. I'm not super keen on paying him nearly 2 mil more than Klef/Larsson.

Yeah, it's the contract (or uncertainty about it) that drives this.

If he matched Larsson's contract at $4.167m for the next five years, he would be worth a great deal.

Him at $6m for the next 7-8? There is a great deal of risk to the acquiring team.

The McDonagh of the last couple of seasons is worth that and nothing more.

Ye keep dreaming. If Mcdonagh didnt play with the biggest anchor in the league in Girardi he would be a top 10D on every list. His corsi drops around 10 when he plays with Girardi compared to playing without him and its not like he is playing with a player who is close to a top pair player when he plays without Girardi. I dont think people understand how bad Girardi actually is. He had 37 in corsi for% this season. 37...... Mcdonagh had 47 and without Girardi he had something around 55 or something.

NYR gets Trouba, 2nd round pick, 4th round pick

Jets get McDonaugh

McDonagh simply isn't as good as he used to be.
Also he's 5 years older... I don't think we'd be adding. In fact I think you would for the above reasons.

McDonagh is still substantially better, and Trouba asked for a trade. You better believe you'd be adding.

I know a lot of Jets fans won't it but I think Nurse+ for Trouba is a fair deal. Nurse hasn't proved much in the NHL yet but he's big, fast, physical, and works hard. He will find his game eventually if given more time. Add to that that he doesn't have to be protected in the expansion draft and I think his value becomes pretty good.

I can't see Edmonton moving Nurse. He has a graphic in the new building - they see him like McDavid.

I can't see a deal between Edmonton and Winnipeg. Winnipeg will want cheap, expansion exempt talent. Edmonton's not going to give that type of player up without knowing what the contract situation they're entering.

I can't see a deal here.

You can bet Trouba will be traded for quality, not quantity. Keep that in mind people

Kane wasn't. It looks like they got the better of the trade because Kane can't get out of his own way, but at the end of the day, Sabres got the best player and the Jets got a bunch of stuff that might be good

How much cheap, expansion exempt talent is available to be traded? Beggars can't be choosers. I think Nurse would fit the Jets' needs fairly well.

As for Trouba's contract demands, I don't know what the etiquette on these things are, but if I'm the Oilers I don't make the deal unless I know I can sign him. That probably means being allowed to give his agent a call.

Not really. As Trouba is a RFA any GM can just talk to him about his contact demands. So they can know before trading for him.

My guess on potential trades (canucks fan POV):

EDM trades: 2nd rounder in 2017 + Nurse | (or swap the 2nd + nurse with nuge)
WPG trades: Trouba + 5th Rounder in 2017

BOS trades: Jakub Zboril +2017 2nd Rounder + 2017 3rd Rounder
WPG trades: Trouba

ARZ trades: Merkly(or Anthony DeAngelo) + Fisher + 2nd Rounder in 2017
WPG trades: Trouba + 3rd Rounder

if my nucks want him it either starts with tanev or hutton which i dont want to give up. would of offered the package we paid for gurdbrandson if i knew trouba was on the market.

In a salary cap world, it's really all about the contract.

I can't see him lining up for a contract like Adam Larsson's, where he makes $4.167m for the next 5 seasons.

If Trouba wants >$6m? Very few teams can support that. You need a team that feels that he's the player they want, long term, and then you have to negotiate assets. Rare kind of trade, and difficult to make.

The money issue was the reason people were using for him not signing.

If it was useage and playing on the right side, money might not be an issue, and he may be willing to sign a Rielly like deal around 5x6.

Trouba is not Gurdbrandson(not sure he's a real person LOL). He will return much more.

The reality of the situation is that WPG won't get fair value for Trouba, that's a given. That's not to say they will get garbage and some mid round picks either. Given the situation and circumstances WPG will have to settle for a deal that they normally would not have made. I believe most Jets fans do realize this but there are some delisional fans believing they will get market value for him, never happens in these situations.

Quoted and saved, heard the same comments about the Kane trade, I think we did pretty well.
