Toronto offers Lupul (LTIR - won't count against the cap) + Michalek (to work out the salary since he wants 7+ a year) + Bozak + Leivo + 6th

That isn't really how ltir works. It does count against the cap. The team is allowed to get a replacement and exceed the cap by not more than the injured players salary.

There are other ramifications such as not "banking" any cap space for the trade deadline if the team does use ltir to exceed the cap.

How about this:
:bruins
Trouba

:ducks2
Heinen
Griffith
2018 BOS 2nd (can't trade the 2017 EDM 2nd round pick which is the only 2nd the Bruins have in 2017)

:jets
Fowler
2017 BOS 1st

The Bruins get a top 4 D. As a Bruins fan it's tough to put Heinen in this deal because in my opinion, he's a top 3 prospect in the Bruins organization, he's on an ELC, can play all 3 forward positions, could play his way to a top 6 role on the Bruins with Vatrano out, and has a lot of Loui Eriksson in his game. The Ducks also get the cap space to sign Lindholm and Rakell. The Jets get a top 4 LD which helps their plans in competing now to get their young players experience and a 1st round pick.

Anaheim would likely want and be OK with Spooner. Prospects do very little for them.

The only problem is Spooner becomes a RFA after this season which may hinder Anaheim's cap situation. If they feel like they can fit Spooner in regardless, I would be fine with swapping Heinen with Spooner.

I know how LTIR works. It was a simplification for a joke.

Also "being able to exceed the cap by the cap hit of the injured player" would be the same as "not counting against the cap" in terms of functionality, you just chose to argue semantics.

Would throw in Dano or Lowry with Trouba because we would lose one of them in expansion draft. Or we take a cap dump to facilitate a trade.

Dano goes back to the Jackets? :sarcasm:

Yeah I wouldn't mind clearing our log jam a bit. Stafford has done us great, but he's not going to get re-signed again. Lowry like you said with the expansion

Which doesn't make sense. Because no one in there right mind would trade that same quality for an unsigned player. Unless it's a sign and trade the Jets are being silly on this.

That's what it's going to be... Overhardt is negotiating with GMs to get Trouba a safe, warm, cozy spot in team X's top pairing with zero need to worry about competition. He'll only sign if he has that spot.

Exactly. For those who will say Jets won't get that see Kane trade Chevy got exactly what he stated. These talks likely have been happening since trade request was made back in May. Chevy likely has multi trades lined up and just seeing who he can squeeze a tiny bit more from.

And he demanded a trade, which drops value again.

Columbus
WPG/EDM/CBJ 3-way Trade

To WPG: Jack Johnson + Gabriel Carlsson + '17 CBJ 2nd Rd Pick

To EDM: Jacob Trouba (signed for 6 years, 31.2M) + Gregory Campbell

To CBJ: Ryan Nugent-Hopkins

Winnipeg gets a solid top-4 LHD, a top LD prospect and a 2nd Rounder. Edmonton solidifies their back-end and picks up a depth center who can play on the wing on their fourth line, and Columbus gets their top-line C.

The Jackets would end up exposing (and most likely lose) a good forward in the expansion draft, but they avoid losing Johnson for nothing. They'd end up protecting Foligno (NMC), Dubinsky (NMC), Hartnell (NMC), RNH, Saad, Jenner, and one of Atkinson/Wennberg. They'd probably take their chances at exposing Wenns since Dubois is in the pipeline and the Jackets are thin at RW.

Edmonton would go with:

Lucic-McDavid-Puljujarvi
Puliot-Draisaitl-Eberle
Maroon-Letestu-Yakupov
Hendricks-Campbell-Kassian

Klefbom-Larsson
Sekera-Trouba
Nurse-Fayne/Davidson

Winnipeg's D pairings:

Enstrom-Byfuglien
Johnson-Myers
Morrissey-Postma

CBJ would go with:

Saad-RNH-Foligno
Jenner-Dubinsky-Atkinson
Hartnell-Wennberg-Bjorkstrand
Calvert-Karlsson-Gagner

Murray-Jones
Werenski-Savard
Goloubef-Prout
