Agreed. The only reason to trade a promising young player like that is to make the team better, like the Drysdale trade.
But considering Zegras is in a position that we need more of, not sure how that would happen.

100%. I like him a lot more than his on-ice impact deserves tbh. If we trade him for some generic up-and-down Canadian top 6er...
Have learned not to get too attached to players, but if they trade Z, will hurt especially since he is still needed. Will sulk a little, may not watch some games, And will throw some choice words at the organization. Lol.
Now if the so called return is nothing special where it doesn‘t improve our team significantly now in other areas (like defense) will want Verbeek gone. I’m going along and am for the Drysdale/Gauthier trade because I didn’t see Drysdale being more than a high end #3, and I really think Gauthier is special and will really help a need.
Don’t want crappy late 1st round picks. Selling rentals gets you that. Not Trevor Zegras.

trading Zegras for anything short of an equally talented young player is gonna do some serious harm to this franchise. as good as Mctavish has been, he hasn't shown the offensive talent that Z did his first two years. just dont see how trading a guy who put up 60+ point seasons in his first 2 full seasons can ever be a good thing. I kinda hope with the popularity Z has and the attention he's given the franchise, the owners might step in and tell Pat that trading Zegras is off the table entirely.

Verbeek needs to be very careful with Zegras. This is the kind of trade that can get you fired if it doesn’t go right.
Drysdale had a question mark with his injuries and no one doubted his potential but the need was scoring and with the D prospect depth he was able to make that move to get a potential elite goal scorer. Don’t have that depth at F to be moving on from Z. Would be idiotic.

It’s really Serevalli. Friedman said he speculates he could be traded but said he is not on the block or heard anything. Dreger also said he was not on the block either.
I take Friedman and Dreger over Serevalli any day of the week.
Yeah, Friedman is far more reliable. Serevalli is just Eklund in a trenchcoat

I think majority of us if not all of us agree, but unfortunately it’s only what PV thinks.
I will say I do think there is a market/entertainment value on zegras that our owners prob wouldn’t sign off on trading him. He does bring a lot more attention to the team, specially with younger fans. He’s easily our most marketable player.
Yeah, I feel if Z is traded, the return will be so good, will help us cope and then some. But if he trades Z for futures, Then will want Verbeek to be fired, so I don’t think futures will be coming back if Z is even traded. Will get someone who will upgrade us currently at the time of the trade.
I feel moving Z will set us back at least 2 years in the rebuild, unless we are getting like a Top pairing D in return.
If Leo, Mac, and Gauthier even come close to their potentials and with Terry already signed long Term and we know what we have with him, can we move on without Z? I dunno. I’d rather have an abundance of Top 6 options.

This is a business and a guy like Zegras is good for business. He might be your biggest draw, especially when you arent winning.

And in this scenario we trade Zegras for... what exactly? Someone who might be as good as him in 2-3 years? We just traded a valuable asset in Drysdale to get more "potential" forward talent in a 19 year old kid, and then we... get rid of actual NHL forward talent? None of this make sense unless he's actually demanding to be moved, which I have heard literally nothing about.

Its pretty clear with this team in particular that when someone is reporting we have interest in acquiring a player or moving them it’s just being done for clicks or views.
Strome/Vatrano/Klingberg/Killorn signings, Drysdale trade, Bush trade, Kulikov trade, all of the roster moves of significance under PV came out of nowhere, with no speculation, leaks, or reporting until they were done. And it was the same under BM
