Vancouver fan here in peace. What is the deal with all of the Zegras trade proposals on the main boards? I can get that he's not a core guy for Verbeek. Always thought he was Anaheim's equivalent of Kessel for Pitt, high end skilled winger, but not in the Sid, Geno, Letang core group. Felt that the Ducks core moving forward was MacTavish, Carlsson, a couple of the Dmen. Borderlien on Terry in that group. But, Zegras, if they need cap room, he's like the first to get shipped out.
Zegras is a big name, so a hot topic for everybody. And there are a lot of clickbait reporters these days. And then it just escalated itself. People started salivating for the idea that they could get Zegras for their scraps and ao on.

While he's not the most prototypical Verbeek guy, I think he's very much what this team needs.

Zegras needs to watch Youngblood (he is totally "prettyboy" Rob Lowe)... He has to have a serious offseason and use the criticism he is getting in the media right now as a huge motivator. He doesn't need to fight, but I think he needs to show that he is serious about competing. He's always going to be offensively creative, but I hope he takes his fitness seriously and work on defensive details, and his faceoffs if he wants to stay at center. He can really have big bounce back season and also change his image... similarly to how Getzlaf did in his bad season when he was a first-time father. Getz was a bit nonchalant and always goofing off (he really never lost that completely), but he really matured the following season and took a big step in leadership. Otherwise, I see him gone in the next year...

He's only played 20 games this season and I'd wager most of the media has maybe seen maybe 5 of them? At best. Most of these people will always hate zegras because he has a big mouth and does lacrosse moves. No reason to listen to the outside noise.

Regardless of that, I do think he will get traded at some point, and maybe as soon as this summer. I just don’t think it’s gonna work out with those two in charge. Kinda like Drouin except Zegs is probably better.

He's a New York fan boy. I could see him going to the rangers

@Ducks DVM to give credit to. If we trade Zegras it won’t be for Futures or other teams scraps Like some fans think it will take. It will be for a Top pairing D of the similar age of Z.

If Verbeek is going to trade Zegras, it better be an overpay, I don’t want crappy late 1st round picks. It will be a similar trade like with Drysdale but a much better return for Anaheim.

Can we survive without Z? Well if depends how Carlsson , McTavish, and Gauthier progress. We already know what we have with Terry. Carlsson and Mac are already looking like Top 6 fixtures. Gauthier has shown a lot of potential but can he translate that to the NHL level? it‘s too early to tell.

Hate to lose Z , part of me will want to be yelling at Verbeek and will want him fired, but have learned not to get too attached to players. It all depends what the return is. I just think now is the worst time to trade him, you have 2 years after this one on his contract. We will have 2 full seasons of Carlsson, McTavish, Zegras, and Gauthier in that time. So it gives Verbeek some time to asses the situation. Pulling the trigger now where Z‘s value is lower due to missing most of this season, would be idiotic.

On a personal note, really am getting sick and tired with the Zegras to the Rangers discussion and proposals. He doesn’t address their needs. They need a 2-way C.

Zegras is a huge reason why I tune in to Ducks games and I've been a fan for almost 30 years.

After Zegras and Carlsson, there aren't many genuinely exciting forwards on the team. Terry, occasionally.

Minty, Luneau and Zell on defense.

Please keep those guys around for my viewing pleasure, okay, Beeker? Thanks.

Who cares? When Drank opens his mouth to talk about the Ducks, raw sewage comes out. Embarassing "president" of the PHWA

All I’ll say is the pieces they get back for Zegras better be surefire (or close to) high end offensive talents in the NHL.

The ducks are potentially ridding themselves of 80 goals between Henrique, Vatrano, and Zegras.

I’m not saying I disagree even but man

How about Zegras + a 2nd for Jiricek + Kent Johnson? Who says no?
I doubt Verbeek has any interest in Johnson but there’s no doubt Jiricek could be appealing

I just cant see PV going for KJ if hes shipping Zegras out.

I could see Zegras for Jiricek, i could also see zegras for Columbus 1st (top pick protection).... i just dont see us going for KJ at that point. But im not sure i see the point in the Drysdale move, if our next move is to go replace him essentially.

I cant really see us moving zegras until the draft at the earliest.

But out of curiosity which duo do you choose

Zegras + drysdale
or
Gauthier + Jiricek

I think Gauthier and jiricek fit PVs team idea better.
I think Jiricek will be better than Drysdale
I think Zegras will be better than Gauthier, but i think Gauthier is ultimately a better fit with PV at the helm.

Zegras has to have higher value than Jiricek, there would have to be a + coming back to us from their end

I would take Zegras and Drysdale over Gauthier and Jiricek - more proven

I feel like if Zegras isn't a good fit for PV's idea, it says more about the idea than it does about the player.

Zegras is an expectational talent that will do amazing things in this league. To trade him at the age of 22 is insane to me and if your idea can't find a way to fit that type of player into it, then maybe you should look in the mirror.

Oh I agree, but it is pvs team now and he’s going to do what he feels fits his idea
