Player Discussion Trevor Zegras : Part III

He put up 53 points last year. I'd be fine if McTavish were employed as a defensive specialist and scored 53 points per season with 17 minutes of TOI per night.

No argument from me but it doesn't go to my point that I thought was implied. You're not going to put Carlsson in that role for obvious reasons. Zegras and Mac are not as good defensively as Karlsson and I don't think this team has nearly enough wing depth to run three scoring lines.

One of the top 3 centers needs to play wing. Vegas went from shallow down the middle to strong enough that they can rely on Karlsson to be a two way third line center with good minutes and good production on top of decent enough wing depth that Karlsson is hampered by playing that role. It's not the same scenario with the Ducks.

Me expressing one desire is not me expressing the exclusion of all other desires. "I would enjoy seeing other people agree that Zegras is overrated" is not in any way, shape or form saying "I would not like it if Zegras was a better player."

Holy cow are you ok? Being a Ducks fan I hope every player on the team plays to the best of their ability and reaches their potential. I haven’t seen anyone call him a superstar yet so not sure where you are getting that.

Maybe if they were a terrible person or something I wouldn’t but that hasn’t happened yet. No one is saying you have to like him just think it’s weird you want an important part of our future to be turned on by the fans. Don’t see how that would help our team.

You wanted me to be more defensive so I didn’t shoot.

You wanted me to shoot more so I threw a bunch of low percentage shots at the goalie.

You said you want more passes so I didn’t hold onto the puck.

Anyone who has had kids has experience this type of response even though they know the real intent of what you want.

Zegras had a really good game, but he still needs his own line. Even with Carlsson he doesn’t have the freedom to be his creative self. It still seemed like too many cooks.

When he was with Mac for a short time in the 3rd there was more energy.

It's absurd how snakebitten he is. it happened to him a couple years ago as well in his first full season.

Not right now they don't, but I feel like adding depth scoring wingers shouldn't be that hard. I feel like they should be able to get a couple guys who can contribute to a very good third line.

Zegras was incredible tonight and deserved a couple points. Best Ducks player on the ice, but Terry was the one who got some lucky points. That's the way it goes sometimes.

It is still early with the new system, but it just seems like Zegras is a player without a line. I felt the same way when we had Bobby Ryan. I thought he looked good last night and I think that is what he should turn into. More of an energy winger that makes great plays, rather than a center that drives a line. He should start to produce soon.

Hard to do when your center is in day care half the time.

Zegras is likely a lot more mature than people give him credit for. I think he likely understands that Cronin is just trying to make him a better player and there’s no malicious intent to him being benched

Zegras made several plays to keep the puck in the zone when Gibson was pulled including a huge stick lift which later led to the Leo goal.

Z needs to produce no doubt but when he does the little things, I am fine if he misses the score sheet from time to time.
