Well it's been about 24 hours since that goal, I haven't stopped thinking about it and I still cant process that I actually saw that in an NHL game. I mean jesus christ what an absurd play.

My dad actually used punctuation in his text to me about it when he saw it today. Mind blown.

I've seen flashes of a handful of players at different times when watching Z but Datsyuk is kind of where I'm settling now. They just think out of the box on the ice and do stuff that you've rarely ever seen before. Z was really pretty solid defensively tonight and that play was straight out of Datsyuk's book. Datsyuk scored 30 or more a few times and 20+ several times, so Z will have to improve a bit there but i have no doubt that he'll get there.

I think Datsyuk did something similar to this, against the Ducks of all teams actually.

Style wise he definitely plays like Datsyuk. It remains to be seen if he will be as good defensively but he’s got the stick work down pat and then with the puck on their sticks they play almost exactly the same style.

Woke up early to watch the game before work. Before I could even hit the play button I got a text from my brother saying "Zegras-Milano ". Based on that, I was expecting maybe a 3 or 5 point game. I was pleasantly surprised.

The real revolution Zegras may be starting is employing batting the puck in. Just take the ice out of the equation.

As an example, on a 2 on 1, if a defender goes down just flip it over him and have the other forward bat it in. The defender is sliding along thinking What The...

And the angle of the shot really has to mess with a goalie.

Of course it does take some special players with eye-hand coordination, but I can see a lot of kids trying to find ways to incorporate this.
