Sure, but that was never going to happen. Man I cant imagine him in a Bruins uni. Certainly not after watching 4 Red Wings games. He is near the top of my disgust list from that group of pukes

I mean he is worlds better than Frederic will ever be. That’s no slight to Frederic either.

Frederic’s shown improvement every year and has been a surprise to many(for sure me). At the same time though even factoring in defensive play, debrincat had more goals in one season than Frederic had during the entire course of his career so far.

Freddie has impressed me so far this year. He was decent last season but in the last month his form fell away and then he had a miserable playoffs. So I was a bit unsure as to just how far he'd genuinely progressed, and how much his stats had been padded by playing on a record-breaking wonder-team. This season though he's gone up another gear again and his play is more consistent. He's rounding out him game quite nicely and the extra responsibility and seniority in the team seem to suit him.

Good on him, he's steadily winning over this doubter. Hope he keeps it up.

Frederic's career so far is sort of like Tom Wilson (though not dirty like Wilson). This was around the time that things started clicking for Wilson as well. If he can manage 20-20+ with hard forechecks and physicality, its good that we waited.

More and more it gives rise to the myth that modern forwards develop early. Exceptional early 1st round forwards develop early. Others take some time, like Marchand or Frederic. Then there are unicorns like Bergeron. GM's who are astute would do well to not believe that myth, to hold on to promising prospects who show grit and effort, and trade for other team's reclamation projects like Zacha.

Guess it's a good lesson on how long some of these guys can take to blossom. And he's not at his peak yet even.

It's interesting his hands are significantly better now. Like how Marchand's improved in his late 20's.

All the more reason to stay patient with Lysell.

On Frederic, he has easily been my favorite player this year and IMO is a Bruin through and through. His skating has improved mightily and watching him gallop up and down the ice is a treat. He’s always had this wrist shot. Always had the skill, just lost the confidence to use it. This was the guy we saw light it up in college.

Never been more baffled by a player's development. He's playing great and I'm glad to eat crow
I`ve been hard on the kid too but I do think he deserved some of it as too often in his first full season, he seemed to be more interested in yakking at an opponent with less focus on actually doing something productive on the ice

I think maturity plus the coaching of Monty has really helped him. I have zero clues what goes on in practice or behind closed doors but I get the sense that Monty has emphasized to him that while dropping the mitts is fine, there`s more to Freddy`s game than doing only that

Kid`s played well
