I think it's gotta be, seems equal. Both late hits with intent to injure.
The collision with Barkov wasn’t classified as a late hit. It was contact away from the puck on an unsuspecting player. The collision with JG was a late hit. JG had the puck, made a play, and then the contact came a beat too late. JG was watching his pass too. If the late hate was high then it’s a suspension. But this impact was shoulder to shoulder. So two different situations.

If Tkachuk doesn't get suspended he's going to leave the game in a stretcher. I don't think you guys quite remember how dirty guys like Cernak, Gorude, Kucherov and Cirelli can get.

BTW, most replays being played show it in slow-mo making it seem much more late. Looking at it full speed, you can't even count one steamboat here before the hit after he dishes the puck. This is the NHL son, keep your head up.

Very similar to Hagel. Gotta be 1 game because of the standard the league set themselves.

Genuine question, what’s different from this and a two minute interference?

This league is becoming incredibly weak if that’s a suspension.

You're absolutely right in a vacuum but the context is the key.

Florida-Tampa and Tkachuk specifically have history and the series has been incredibly chippy from the start.

They suspended Hagel to make the statement that taking runs @ players and potentially injuring them isn't going to fly, even if it's not a super eggregious hit like jumping into a player's head or violently boarding them from behind.

It's gonna be the same context and logic applied here. Tkachuk took a run @ him when he knew the game was iced. It's not super violent or dirty, it's clearly late and interference. Also Tkachuk sitting for a game will deter retribution and taking runs @ Panther players if he's punished for it.

That's the way I see it and anticipate him getting a game.
