If they can not sign Frederic, they can not let him walk for nothing.
Try trading him to St. Louis for their 1st and Bolduc. (not saying this is the best option, just an option)
Need to get something back for him.
But part of me hopes they sign him to a fair deal for player and team.

I don`t even bother trying to sign him, seen enough, there will be better out there, the concern I have is Don and Cam identifying the right piece that is out there

Putting him with different linemates constantly trying to find some guys he can get chemistry with and get going, yeah, they've tried. Maybe you don't agree that they've done enough toward that end? Then again, the problem may just lie with Freddy this season. He can't seem to play well for more than a game or two with whoever they put him with. At some point, the player has to be the issue.

I also know that we are unlikely to ever agree on the subject of Trent Frederic
he shows like he did last night consistently, than I might buy into Volcanos take, but until he does I will agree with you make no difference what line he is on, and this coming from a guy that has always liked Freddy.

Guessing the market is just not there for him?

My belief is it is one of two things: 1) Sweeney is never in a rush to do anything it seems like, and if he doesn't have to make a decision on Frederic just yet, he won't. It's the innate conservatism of the man as a hockey exec. 2) The Bruins still believe in him because he is allegedly that unicorn power forward who can skate, hit, score, and fight, and they are willing to give him time to get it together as well as find a good contract landing spot.

If we are signing last year’s version of Frederic then I am all for it. This years not as much. I just don’t know which season was the exception.

The only thing in 100% certain of is they cannot lose him for nothing. Whether that be way of extension or pieces coming back remains to be seen. There is still time

The fact that the whole team sucks this year probably makes it the outlier.

Last year's version of Trent Frederic signed with Carolina this past summer for 1yr/$2.8mil.

His name is Jack Roslovic.....or Danton Heinen

As for trade value, he's probably worth a 3rd Rd pick.

Production-wise, yes. But there is the whole mythos around Trent as a power forward that will hit and fight which Roslovic and Heinen don't do. That drives the value up considerably and may be the reason the Bruins are not ready to move on from him.

I'd argue that mythos is strictly confined to Bruins fans who continue to want him to be something he's not, and then get frustrated with him when he isn't. Sure he'll drop them from time to time, but he's not a game changer, and its not worth a premium in salary.

Facts are now myths ( I thought politics weren't allowed)? Frederic is second on the team in hits and fought 4 times this season. How does that create a "mythos" that he's a forward who hits and fights?

Its not an issue of whether or not, or how much he fights and hits. We're all Bs fans and we know that.

Its an issue of how much of an impact he has on this team's success and what his worth is in either trade value or a contract extension.

My opinion is that he's worth $3mil/yr and probably a 3rd Rd pick on the trade market. Maybe a 2nd, if I'm in a generous mood. If you disagree, fine. Then throw some numbers out there....What are you willing to pay to keep him? What would you want in return to trade him?

I thought he played a good game last night. Lets see if he can keep it going.

Ideally he doesn't go dry for another 2-3 weeks.

Game changers get a lot more money than what Freddy will get.
