Who's taking that lot? Damn that's some wasted cash

You have to fit him this season, it's doable during the off-season but at the TDL?

That's going to take some doing
It's doable now... But you have to move Domi... moving Kampf and Reaves isn't necessary, though you'd have to send Reaves to the minors.

I just don't think we have the "compete now" assets that they'd want, unless that's falsely reported.

In my opinion go with what we have unless you can upgrade Holmberg (no redeeming worth at all). No player or players that we can afford will make a difference.

What assets do we have that other teams would want? Obviously Matthews, Marner, Nylander and Knies.
Let's be realistic here

Matthew's isn't getting traded
Marner is a pending UFA with a NMC, hes not waiving for Buffalo
We aren't trading Nylander for him

Knies is the only one that close to realistic and i doubt we'd trade an early 20's PFW with the ceiling he seems to be showing

Easier said than done, I don't think Domi will be an easy move to make

Knies gets it done imo

Why act like we don’t have any assets other teams would want? Thats simply not true.
Well, Cowan and Minten certainly have value around the league, but not to the extent of getting the Cozens thing done, in my opinion.

I think if Buff moves him, they're going to want something like Elias Pettersson or some other big center in return. or possibly a F/RD combo deal like Sharangovich + Andersson for Cozens + Byram

I would give anything except, Matthews,Marner, Nylander, for Cozens
I would add Knies to that list.

I’ve been advocating for a Cozens trade, but I don’t think it’s going to take as much as people think. Outside of 1 year, where he hit 68 points he’s been a 40 point player at a cap hit of 7.1 million. Yes he’s young, big and right handed so he’s got that going for him but I don’t think anyone views him as a number 1 center. He’s more of a number 2, which is exactly what we need.

I wonder if there’s a 3 way trade where our 1st and Cowan go to Buffalo. Domi and our 2nd to a third team that Domi would waive for and an okay roster player heading to Buffalo.

Knies might get it done as an asset, but not cap wise. It's pretty much Domi needs to go, to do it cap wise. He's got a M-NTC, 13 team no trade list... Buffalo is likely on that list, so I doubt we could do that deal if we tried.

You could do Kampf, Reaves, Dewar, and you have a 21 man roster, with $800k left....

I'd rather keep Knies, and go for a lesser C, than give him up for Cozens.

Knies is the only guy I can think of with that kind of value
Yeah, but that's plugging one hole and opening another.

I'm pretty open to entertaining almost any offer for Leafs players, and I include Knies as one I'd listen to, but I think it's pretty clear that they really like Knies, and that includes Berube, who would likely let Knies marry his Daughters. . lol

Lol at trading Knies...some of u are desperate for trades...i am trading Knies only for a star not for Cozens and players like him and I like Cozens a lot..i don't remember us having a power forward like him in the last 20 years and u guys want to trade him?

That depends what you want to acquire? Hertl with 1.3M retention for 6 more years was traded for a 2025 1st round pick, Edstrom (#32 2023) and other mid/late round picks I don't remember. Is Cozen more valuable than that? If Buffalo doesn't want futures, they will eliminate a lot of teams. All it takes is creativity and a good match.

All different levels of value depending on the other team needs/wants, and obviously what is coming back

Younger assets of some form of value
2nd round pick in 2025 - 1st round pick in 2026, all the rest of the picks
Robertson
Hildeby
AA
Cowan
Minten
Greb
Danford
Webber
Steeves
Quillan

Place holders / Minor cap dumps / low end NHLers but not cap anchors
Timmins
Rifai
Holmberg
Myers
Benoit
Kampf
Murray

He makes 7M, how do we even fit his cap hit in?

It can work in a lot of ways. If the Leafs shed Kampf and say Timmins, trade/waive Reaves, trade Robertson or waive someone like Holmberg, run a 21 player roster, we can acquire Cozens full 7.1M contract without retention and have 200k of cap space left.

It's do-able technically but it's very tight.

He's only guy that really fits what Buffalo reportedly want and I can't say I'd be keen on trading Knies either
His hands and big body around the net are real game changers

I'd agree with that, Tavares is a very good 2C and trading our early 20's PWF for a center instead of just getting a good 3C seems aggressive to me

That's a lot of moves and the other teams reportedly involved have some very tasty assets we'd struggle to match

It's mostly a lot of depth movement. That's what it would take. Maybe you cut Domi loose to whoever wants him and free up cap space that way too but I feel like he's here to stay.

Tasty assets or not, we can get up there if we want to dance. Cozens isn't THAT good though so there's always a limit.
