Kaako would be interesting pickupI don't see the Rags dumping Kreider, but Kakko. I'd do Freddy even up
Kakko - 4G | 10A | +10
Kreider - 10G | 1A | -4

That trade (for Al Iafrete) was when I knew it was over. What they really need is Jeff Odgers.

NopeIf Bruins dont plan on extending Freddy i would trade him for Kakko. He still has lots of untapped potential. Only 23yo and RFA.
They criticize Neely.Chara speaks 6 languages- 5 more then Seeeney and played for 5 teams
Chara would be a phenomenal GM based on his intellect and hockey ability
Bergy could be President and look handsome and bring class back to Organization
I’m ready for it
Plus like Yzerman in Detroit no one would dare criticize these two and we would all be on same side
Let’s go Jacobs - do it
I hear ya dude, I don't even know what side I'm on anymoreCrazy how far opinions can sway year by year on Frederic. I’ve gone from telling everyone to cool their jets and overestimating his value to now defending his value in a matter of 3-4 months lol

Nick Paul is another example - just got over 40 points for the first time at age 28. 7 years, $3.15. Give on the term, get a bit on the number.I think the Bruins are going to regret trading Frederic, if they chose to do so. I think he is an important part of the identity of the team. He has improved every year up to this season and then all of a sudden his play (with the rest of the team) dropped significantly under Montgomery. I think he's played much better under Sacco.
I feel like a lot of people (myself included) were hoping he was going to take another step and cement himself as a top six power-forward but I think we found out quickly, he is simply a 3rd liner. I understand there is an argument to be made about his inconsistencies but that is exactly why he is a 3rd liner and why many players end up in those types of roles...they don't have that high end skill level to rely on when the going gets tough. Guys like Frederic have to grind it out time and time again.
At the end of the day, I hope they resign him and I actually think it's the perfect time to get him on a better contract versus overpaying during his best season (likely last year). If he is looking for 4 million plus then I will join the rest of you but I think a 3.5 on a longish type of contract (say 5 years) is a very fair contract for someone who is likely going to get 30ish points, can play any position, stick up for teammates, etc.
Dakota Joshua got 3.25 x 4 and Trenin got 3.5 x 4 (who have both underperformed since signing) are also staring every other GM in the league who wish to go big on Freddy. I think if you can get him at a similar number with an extra year or two, I'm in. Goodrow 3.6 x 6 is the absolute ceiling IMO.
3x3.5mil
But, ... Bettman's not happy with only 32, or 34, or 36. There is not enough parity in the league yet. Need to keep watering down the talent league wide so that every team still has a chance to qualify for the playoffs in April.I consolidate all the Canadian teams into 3 teams
Montreal
Toronto
Vancouver
No way Calgary, Ottawa, Edmonton, and I think that’s there is another (7 right? They can’t be any good if I can’t remember who they are) should have teams in small markets
We need to keep at 32 so if we see adding Houston, Phoenix, Hamilton, Atlanta in US we need to take away 4
I don’t think $4 is crazy with the cap inflation coming - put that against his other comps. Doesn’t mean you have to pay it but $4M now is like $3M a couple years ago. Going to be a lot of worse players who get that number going forward.I think he's looking for $4-5m. I think he'll point to Lawson Crouse and Mason Marchment as comps.
I punt.
And for me, part of the reason there is a "delay".I don’t think $4 is crazy with the cap inflation coming - put that against his other comps. Doesn’t mean you have to pay it but $4M now is like $3M a couple years ago. Going to be a lot of worse players who get that number going forward.
I’m here on entire post. You summarize exactly his I feel~ like him but he’s a 3rd liner at this point.Frederic is an interesting case given his career trajectory. I don’t think a contract between 3.5-4.2 is completely unreasonable for what he gave you last year.
I would also like to say a good portion of us felt he was an important piece following his performance last year.
In the end it depends on what he wants, if his ask is beyond where they feel comfortable than they should look at a potential deal. I just think he shouldn’t be written off so quickly due to his this years start.
Who are the people who want to give him a hefty raise? I don’t get that at all. Some kind of bump, sure. Multiple millions? GTFO…
Ah yes, the old “he’s overpaid but there are worse players making more” excuse for a bad deal. Solid way to run your team. Or not. Yeah, not.I don’t think $4 is crazy with the cap inflation coming - put that against his other comps. Doesn’t mean you have to pay it but $4M now is like $3M a couple years ago. Going to be a lot of worse players who get that number going forward.
And that is just total bullshit if you ask me.Gonna trade his rights for a 7th two days before free agency starts.
If we move a first rounder I'm going to be pissed unless we get God himself playing Center. No chance in hell I move a first round pick to add Kreider to this roster. That’s throwing good money after bad.
Keep the pick and let a new GM make it.
You can not forget the fact he is a UFA at season end. Is he a player you think the Bruins should invest in long term? We know this is a matter of at what cost. From what I see he is a player that should be moved this season , if there is an expectable return availableFreddy is a cipher - people seem to project whatever they want on him. Some want him to fight Olivier and Xhekaj every game. Even when you show who he has fought prior to this year it’s not enough. Some want him to produce 50 points on the third line with little PP time. Some want him running around without being productive like Kastelic. It’s kind of bizarre.
I’ve defended him the last several years when every line he played on was more effective with him than without him. He played like ass to begin the season. He’s a complementary player who is going to go as the team goes. Hes been better the last couple of weeks, but not up to how he played the last couple of years. Why people are completely giving up on him, other than the couple with irrational hatred of him, is beyond me.
I love you @DKH but if you slag off The Planet again, you and I will have to meet in the parking lot and throw down. That trade (for Al Iafrete) was when I knew it was over.
The Bruins as I knew were dead
That's one more than Coyle has on the year. Why do you think his thread isn't as active with hair splitting stats?1 assist in his past 15 road games. Yikes!
