Trent Frederic II

I have no idea here. I don't have a problem with what Trent did. Maybe Perry did something to a linemate. They kill that penalty if they weren't shit on the PK at the moment and giving the puck away. I get that you really don't like Trent, and I am not his biggest fan either, but I'll give him this one. Your mileage may vary

I've laid off him here over the holidays and recently because he's been playing better IMO. Seems like he's getting more used to playing center and he's moving his feet more which he needs to do to be successful in the NHL. Personally I see value in him as a big strong center who can defend down low and help regain possession, I really don't care if he's not out there trucking people or fighting guys. Just play solid hockey. Don't be a liability.

It's the times he's been lazy/dirty/reckless/selfish that has hurt his team that grinds my gears about this player. The needless lazy cheap shots on smaller players that put his team down a man (Perunovich on St. Louis, Chibrikov on Winnipeg). Picking a fight with a non-fighter in a blowout game in Winnipeg that Zadorov had to answer for, the altercation with Perry last night in the middle of a 1-goal winnable hockey game.

I think that is a fair assessment of his season but to some as long as his hit totals are high and he drops the gloves from time-to-time (regardless of the situation) all is good in Frederic Land. When he does stupid shit that hurts his team, no worries, because clearly the rest of the group doesn't have a pulse, right? (rhetorical question not meant to be directed at you).

For what it's worth, this Bruins team (including Frederic) is working its ass off most nights but they just don't have the horses and the right type of ponies to compete with the upper-echelon clubs in today's NHL.

I think this is a pretty fair assessment BD, you're generally pretty hard on him but it's nice to see such a genuine assessment of where his game is heading.

He's been a lot better the past 10-15 games, but that slow start is going to tank his numbers this year.

I have liked his two-way play the past two seasons but he seems to have lost it big time. Seems weak on his stick this year and not stealing pucks as well as he has before

I've said before, I like the player but I personally move on and try to use him in a deal to upgrade the top 6. Obviously not as the main piece.

If he ends up staying here I'd like for them to leave him at center where he can use his size and strength down low defensively and forces him to move his feet more. He's a decent distributor of the puck for those short simple passes that you need a center to make. I've always felt his was miscast as this hard-charging power winger.

Is it about Trent Frederic or the Boston Bruins? I'm confused.

Because if it was Frederic making sure he sent Perry a message right there and then, then it's about Trent Frederic and not his team. Same as the Gustavsson fight. It's becomes about Frederic's ego and not the team he's playing for.

If Perry did him dirty fine, wait until later in the game to send your message. Not put your team down a man against McDavid and Draisaitl in a 1 goal winnable hockey game in the middle of the 2nd period.
Think it was the only moment in the whole game that had fans out of their seats - created momentum that Zacha and McAvoy promptly murdered shortly after.

I ain’t no Fred fan, but I have to say…it’s a little forced to have him be any sort of focus in terms of last night’s dismal game.
Right?? Team was getting worked over before the fight and continued getting worked over after. Strange to put the blame on a 3rd liner when they score 0 goals, can't even have a chance if you don't score...

I love all the laugh reacts we have going on, I just envision us all standing in a circle pointing at each other cackling like crows
In reality we're probably all sitting here like -_-

Ahhhh this explains a lot, you dont think the internet can be wrong 🤣

Probably thinks it's subjective bullshit
The interet is wrong a lot of the time. What I found funny is the claims weren't backed up by the internet, so therefore the web was deemed wrong. If it had been backed up, the web would have been deemed accurate. It's a double standard. Even if/when he's fought heavyweights, he's still usually been the bigger guy. And when he's fought smaller guys, you get a whole bunch of excuses as to why. It's again the double standard that I take issue with.

But if he wants to fight someone to set the tone, that's fine with me. Just don't get an extra 2 for being a moron.

It really doesn't seem like anything he does is fine with you.

Yup quite a bit happened in that 34 seconds - ask Zacha (best chance of the night for Boston) McAvoy (worst giveaway of the night and that's saying something) and McJesus.

I think what you call a momentum swing and what I would call a momentum swing may be two different things. But I'm also not about to start a debate over what constitutes a momentum swing and what doesn't. This isn't my first HF Boards rodeo.

That giveaway by McAvoy wasn't just the worst turnover of the night, might be the worst one all year. That was atrocious.

It's not but it would be if he could stop doing stupid shit. Like fighting Corey Perry? Sure thing. Getting an extra two when the linesman had stepped in before you fight Corey Perry? Nope. It's always one step up and 2 steps back with this guy.

Who exactly are you trying to convicne here? Because earlier in this thread you literally criticized him for fighting the non-fighter, "old-man Perry", so we already know it's bullshit that you wouldn't be okay with it even without the 2. You become less and less credible in this thread every time you hit reply

Those are two different points that you're taking out of context. I've been critical of the extra penalty he took. Then when people were chest thumping over him beating up on Perry, I said what's there to get excited about? He beat up an old dude and got an extra 2 that resulted in them allowing another goal. Finding the silver lining in that pile of horse shit is really just living in fantasy land.

It isn't taken out of context at all, because you have taken aim at his fight card before, featuring plenty of guys who are tougher than Perry and plenty of fights where he didn't take an extra 2, so you've made it pretty f***in clear that you would not have been okay with it either way. You're trying to seem like you don't have any bias against this guy by saying "well if he didn't do this one thing I'd be okay with it" when you've already showed that's false.

I guess some people were ok with him after Perry for half the ice. It was captain obvious he didn’t want to go. If it were reversed, everyone here would be up in arms. Guys that fight actually ask and try to provoke. If the don’t drop the gloves, they don’t drop. What this team needs from him is some forechecking aggression and some intensity. He too invisible for where he should be.

Perry hit him high, held onto his stick the whole way and dropped the gloves first. They were both willing. Not sure where the pearl clutching for Cory f***ing Perry comes from.
