No it wasn’t geared at Brady, that’s you speculating like the other poster said, and you wanting to take a shot at only Brady again.

As JM said, “a lot of guys should look in the mirror.”
They have to decide what they want to be.
It was a lesson learned about how hard you have to compete, how hard you have to play”.

We know Brady plays hard.
There are a number of players on this team that have to find their role with the team & not everyone will be happy with what their role will be & likely eventually move on because of it. Hopefully, Green has a man to man discussion with these guys & tell them what he needs from each player & it will be up to the player whether that is the role he wants to play or not. Player roles are not discussed much, but they are what coaches expect especially from certain players & for some those roles are the only reason they are in the NHL.
Brady’s an adult, Captain of an NHL team, paid big money to be in front - it’s okay the team critiques him and his team they had a terrible culture and he wasn’t backchecking seriously and they were losing massively.

Doesn’t mean you dont like him, doesn’t mean you’re taking shots at him, just means he needed a wake up call
Brady was the team's best player this past season who led the team in scoring for the 4th time in 5 yrs, I think he did his bit. Their problems were with goaltending & the defence & some players giving the puck away too often, I don't see that as on Brady. In fact, their priorities as many have mentioned has to be goaltending & a RD, players are going to make mistakes, but allowing the first goal in almost half their games is unacceptable.
Baumgartner and green go way back so not surprising

Capuano according to Garrioch expires on July 1st and will be allowed to move on so he won’t be back as well.
Baumgartner RD is a former NHL defenceman & exactly what this team needs to coach their defence.

Yes, wishful thinking, there are 31 teams in the NHL that would give up their next three 1st rd picks for a big tough premier dominant powerforward who can produce a ton of pts.

Not quite sure what this has to do with Yeo?

That has nothing to do with what I said, I was just showing you, Staois never mentioned Brady, he mentioned a lot of guys, in your quote, but you twisted it to Brady somehow like usual.

a lot of guys should look in the mirror

So why did you change what was in the quote?
Where is the name Brady in that quote? That’s all I said, nothing more.

If you were watching that game and you saw bRady post game you’d know. It’s a context thing which you do t have because it was meant to target and call out Brady and Timmy after the game and now it’s 5 months later but trust me we’re playing like shit and sulking while doing it.

And it worked, they played much better after this.

I think in Ottawa because we are a small
Market not 1st place team we as fans worry that critiquing players (American ones with big egos) will make them run to the USA - so maybe we need players made for this market and that’s okay, but critiquing players is what NHL coaches do.

If John Torterella was here I think many fans would have an Aneurism from worry about players wanting out

Allowing the first goal in almost half their games means that they also score the first goal in almost half their games. That isn't too bad.

In 2023-24, the teams scored 3.05 GF/GP (20th in league) versus allowing 3.43 GA/GP (tied for 28-30th in league). The Senators definitely need to narrow the gap and preferable have a higher GF/GP than GA/GP. That will require a greater focus on defensive play without the puck in all 3 zones.

The PP also was bad at 18% (23-24th in the league).

The PK was even worse at 75.1% (29th in the league).

The team was bad at SA/GP (20th in the league). Poor play without the puck again.

We definitely need better goaltending, better defensive play, and a top 4 RD.

I wonder if Alfredsson wants to come back as an assistant coach and also whether the team wants him back in that role versus something else such as PD or PR.

The thing you have to love about the Travis Green hire is you know that he is desperate to have the reputation of a winning coach and so does Brady and co, if it all comes together and these dudes start getting teams on their heels you could have a coach / team combination that are both being fulfilled by finally achieving their goals and having success the trust that’s developed gets so deep some times teams just don’t let go of it and can ride a mad wave of team success for a long time.

If Green has his files on each player in proper order and he gets the core humming along - could be good from game 1

Something else interesting - Wally believes that the development staff/coaches [Redden, Winchester and Donovan] are all 'stepping down'.

Plenty of rumors about the staff in Belleville being overhauled as well.

Interesting timing with him slipping that tid bit on the same show he has Borowiecki on.

Wallace the new Garrioch? Everything seems to be filtering through him nowadays. Not sure if BooBoo is lacking content/insider views or just spending too much time on the golf coarse/bottom of a glass - very little content or legit info since seasons end.

With the papers dipping and 1200 in palliative care it would make sense for ownership to 'pivot' towards 'online' and 'streaming' when looking to cover/grow the brand over the next 10 years.

Many great streamers/content creators in this market. Absolutely no reason to continue force-feeding these guys who shoved their foot in the door 30+ years ago to the 'new generation' of fans.

This team needs a 'refresh' from the bottom up.

Marek/Friedman speculated Jay McKee could find a spot in the Sens org, possibly coaching Belleville.

The defense was not right in Vancouver. They were all over the place.Yeo Is a decent assistant, but I certainly would probably want to bring in another defensive mind with experience and Nolan is not exactly a household name. Good thing we're going to have Jacques Martin consulting for us so he can teach these boys. How to coach defensively.

Nolan is probably very much a Green hire and came very cheap and on a one-year deal. The guy they should have brought in was recently departed Calgary Flames assistant coach Mark Savard, Now that was a guy who played the game the right way and is going to have a future in coaching.

I think Gruden is probably not going to see the light of day as a coach here. He wasn't exactly lighting up the AHL and having the B-Sens beat on him at the end of the year. Pretty well put a nail in his coffin.

I never expect Claude Julian to take an assistant job, but I think seeing he's in the area he would be a good consultant as well with Jacques Martin and we could have the French connection of the two great coaches from their era consulting these green horns behind the bench.

What we need to do though is find a real goalie coach. One of those Francois Allaire type of guys or steal one of the great goalie coaches around. If we at least can bring in a good goalie coach, he can work with some of these guys and get them to be half decent until we can get a good one. The rumor is that Staois wants to bring in a good one but that is going to be a miracle to make that happen right now.

In regards to dono and company, those guys were really good guys and they helped us a lot but is a sign of a regime change in the status quo is over. Maybe those guys get some jobs in Belleville. However, I'm seeing a regime change and just overall feeling of a house cleaning taking place. This team was put together on a welfare budget and not necessarily employed the best people for the job but the cheapest people for the job and they did what they could and some did a decent job. A decent doesn't get us to the playoffs anymore.

In terms of our prodigal son Mr. Alfie. I really don't want to see him behind the bench for much longer to be honest. I think there's probably some valuable lessons being behind the bench as a coach and dealing with the players from behind the bench rather than being the one on the bench. This experience could help him grow and prosper and mold him into the executive. We all know he's going to be for the Ottawa Senators. He's not going anywhere. At least over my dead body. We need to groom him to eventually take over as whatever position he wants. To be honest. I don't care if he wants to be the door greater when people come in the stadium. He could replace that boring Sparta cat for all I care. No in all seriousness, I think he's going to be an executive of this tea man might very well end up as vice president of this team before too long. I am not interested in seeing him be a GM. That is a tough job.

I think Staios needs to think about either grooming or plucking someone for that job. He's just going to be run too thin If he continues to have both roles.

I am warmer to the green hiring than when it first happened, but I am a little weary of his choices for assistants. I mean this guy is bringing the same guys who helped him get fired from Vancouver here. Not sure that's so smart. I would have want to surround myself with a lot of experience for this young team.

This might be Staios oversight on his part as well. Between being GM and the president he's got his hands full and I'm not sure letting a sophomore coach bring his sidekicks from his last job with him is the right idea. The one thing I will tell you though is that no matter what our defense will improve cuz there is no way that they can't after the Jack Capuano made a mess of them with no defensive structure. He got a free pass in Ottawa for some reason and I don't know why the fans didn't run him out of town. He was the one in charge of the defense and if you look at our numbers and how bad our defense played, the fact that he had a job when DJ got fired made me scratch my head and pull my hair.

I would like to see at least a couple good consultants brought in. It looks like the addition of Ressen did not go over as well as they hoped. It's not like he was ever a defensive coach anywhere.

I look forward to some more turnover and some fresh new names being brought into the organization. I hope they get their scouting department in order for this upcoming season.

If Travis Greene doesn't work out right off that bat, I suggest that we put Chris Niel as one of his assistants to keep him in line....lol

Steve Staois took a look at the team Dorion built - and the only person he’s keeping from the entire staff is Ryan Bowness.

That’s not a culture change - it’s a complete systematic overhaul of the entire organization and getting rid of anybody who was part of a staff that underachieved.

Steve Staois, Travis Green and Dave Poulin play for keeps just like they did on the ice. These mofos are no f***ing around

I guarantee everybody comes into camp in top shape and focused for the hardest work of their lives because if you don’t you will get fired - that’s a true culture change

The first half of the year shots against Sens ranked 22nd.
Second half they ranked 6th in the league.

Sounds like Alfie will be back coaching.

Think he’ll be full time? I think he’ll be ,ore a skills PP, PK coach and stay mostly at home but good to hear he’ll be back.

When he told Timmy to pull any game tape at any point in his career and Alfie will be on the right side of the puck, that to me is as boss as it gets. +1200 games andyku never cheated ever from your first shift - we were so Lucky having Alfie

I wonder why? Not that I'm against it (or for it), I guess I just don't have a feel for how well they're performing one way or the other. Is this a perfomance issue, or just looking for a change for the sake of change?

Could just be a matter of completely cleaning house and anyone tied to the former regime (with the exception of Ryan Bowness & Alfie) are going to be replaced by the new Sherriff in town.
Total re-boot.

Nice to here Alfie will be an assistant coach. I'm good with Yeo and Baumgartner as well, truly are having management and coaching overhaul.

Tell me more about the new goalie coach.
I don’t think we have a new one do we? They promoted Justin Peters mid-season so he’ll probably stay.

Tbh he might be good. Korpi played much better towards the end of the season. Not sure a goalie coach can work miracles though, if we get an average season out of him I’ll consider it a job well done.

Dono is still undecided. He could very well stay. If he leaves it'll genuinely be his decision, he's not being forced out from what I hear.
