Waived: Travis Boyd (Update - Claimed by Vancouver)

For real! It’s pretty obvious these are cap moves to prep for the trade deadline.

Would the Dubas haters just like him to do nothing? I guess it’s easy to just criticize everything.
ye, even if theres no deadline move..its not like joey anderson cant do the exact same job, or agostino or... etc etc.

Sure Vesey was great depth. I liked Boyd but apparently he is not good enough not to waive. I prefer quality over quantity and truth is we do not have much after our top 6 forwards.

He was like 15th or 16th on the depth chart going into the season, caught lightning in a bottle for a couple games, and is getting pushed out as we get healthy.

By definition no NHL team has 16 waiver eligible forwards "not good enough to not waive"

As things stand we can't afford much in our bottom 6 and as such all we can do is sign players making the minimum to $1.5M. So far he hit on Bogo, Spezza and Simmonds. Missed with Lehtonen, Barabonov, Vesey, Boyd, Petan, and Malgin. Jury out on Jumbo but he is starting to show his age. Next year after he gives Hyman his raise he will go bargain hunting again. It will not work.

Travis boyd was yet another definite "hit" for Dubas. He has been a perfect depth piece for when we ran into some injuries.

But because Dubas has had so many of these hits, there's no need to guarantee every single one a permanent roster spot.

There is a reason Keefe has been a bit harder on Engvall. He can be a freaking stud when on. Keefe knows that, he has been coaching him for awhile now. If he uses his hockey smarts and gives 100 the guy is a great player, I don't know how a bunch of guys here think he is so bad. Some bad games here and there yea but who doesn't have those? You will be hard pressed to find someone like him for the price. Those lanky arms and legs have use.

I'd say most of his games are replacement level play with a few standouts. Not the other way around. I don't dislike the guy at all, I just don't think he's very good.

Another one of Dubas' value signings being sent overboard. If somebody took Vesey, somebody will take Boyd. At some point Dubas needs to admit that he cannot build a team with 4 forwards taking up 1/2 the cap, especially with one of them playing like he has aged 5 years since the start of the season.

Huh? He's being waived because the other Dubas' signings are able to fill out the roster instead....

A cap move for the deadline: they wouldn't do this if they weren't banking on finalizing a trade eventually.

I thought Boyd was useful, probably 50-50 he gets picked up.

Meh. If he puts Spezza on waivers again though, I"m going to lose it.

It's doubtful he's do that during this point of the season. Especially with his production the way it is. It would be a lot riskier now than it was at the start of the year

Not too difficult to replace journeymen players but he was nice to have as our #5C. Hopefully this is a precursor to another move or that they think Gally will stick.

I hope it is a precursor to another move. Doesn't Dubie usually make his moves right about now? He has made his bigger deadline moves several weeks ahead of trade deadline last few years.

I find waivers really annoying. It would be nice if you could send down a player once per season without waiving them.

haha here come the Dubas haters to tell everyone about the bad asset management in losing a 4th line depth player.

Leaf fans are amazing.
I will admit. It can be funny to see the board going on and on about how the team isn't good and the players Dubas brings in are mostly crap and so on. Then said player goes via trade, waivers, free agency and it's like "What!? He's gone? He was a great piece. Bad move. Dubas will regret this."

It is truly baffling and we see it with a lot of players.

I like him but he should be around 1.5 AAV , brutal trade by doobie
Ok I've been curious and want to know. Are you the infamous Twitter Bag Head? At first I didn't think so cause your posts didn't match the Twitter persona. But slowly but surely your posts are starting to veer in that direction.
