Anyone know the thoughts behind changing the defensive pairings? I thought they were doing pretty good in the first two games.

These guys were in on all four of your goals, including those three successive PPGs in the second: F: 51 McGinn – 16 Lindholm – 61 Tolchinsky / D: 46 Carrick – 7 Murphy.

Impressions of the line? Was it just a lot of luck or strong play?
My impression from the PBP is that they were the only CAR line that was really testing BUF. They started slow though, as BUF hit most of them with quick minuses within ten minutes, but they recovered to throw a dozen or so shots on goal, became a constant threat, drew some penalties and capitalized on their PP time. Now, how lucky the goals were, I can't say, as I was only noting the description of BUF goals on our board, but I'll share the highlights when they become available later tonight and then you can judge for yourself.

Dude is on fire. RT @Canes_Gameday: SERGEY AGAIN! It's 3-0 Carolina as @Tolchinsky10 nets his second of the game. #CanesTC

It's going to be interesting to watch him next week (I'm assuming he'll be invited to camp). I highly doubt he makes the team, but maybe he'll get a preseason game or two. I'd love to see where he's at.

I think basically everyone in the org that's signed to a contract goes to most typical training camps. Sergey's the prospect I'm absolutely the most excited about right now. The kid just flat out has game, even if his defense doesn't round out his offensive skill set is simply out of this world. Even given his size it's hard to believe he went undrafted, and signing him as a free agent is like being gifted another top 60 pick.

We have a nice thing going with Sergey, Lindholm, McGinn, PDG, Rask, Karlsson, and Woods up front in our pipeline right now. And I'm pretty high on both Collier and Pedersen right now too.

That said, i have no doubt he goes back to the OHL this coming season.

I know in all likelihood Tolchinsky is returning to juniors but what's the deal with being able to send him to the AHL? I'm not sure how being an undrafted signee affects his status. If he tears it up in the OHL this season, can we play him in Charlotte next season as a 19 year old?

I'm not 100% sure, but being that he played in the CHL leagues last year I think it's handled in the same way that it would be if he were drafted from a CHL league. We'd still have to wait until he turns 20/has played 4 seasons, whichever comes first.

Don't quote me on this, but, I believe because he played in Canada last season, regardless of nationality, he isn't eligible for the AHL. Not 100% sure on this though.

Tolchinsky belongs nowhere near the AHL next season. He's not physically ready even if he does have the skill to play up. He needs to go back and dominate the OHL, because for whatever reason his numbers didn't match up with what we're seeing right now.

The 2014-2015 season is a long ways away. Ideally, of course, we would want him to play out his next two years in the OHL. But if he has a 90-100 point season in the OHL, which I don't think is too out of the question if he remains healthy, and if he manages to put on 15-25 lbs (25 lbs is probably the upper limit of his max playing weight), then making the pro jump (if allowable) isn't too absurd of an idea. IMO, even the ECHL would be a better option than going back to the OHL if he manages to tear it up this season.

Isn't 51 points in 62 games pretty good for a rookie in the CHL?
