4-3 32-12 shots. Obviously Columbus is controlling the game. Tolchinsky had a nice breakaway goal. He looks good, but with his awful defensive play which has improved today I don't know how far he'll go. He has the speed, quickness, and hands to survive, but I'm not sure it's enough.

Sutter looks good out there as well. He is controlling the puck and not being fancy. He plays a north south game. Strong on his skates as well.

Rask looks good too. His vision is at an NHL level now. He makes the best play for the team not himself. He'd have a couple assists if his teammates capitalized on his passes.

Murphy looks likes he's struggling. Is getting pushed around a bit as well. I think he could use a year in the AHL. He needs some weight and strength. Offensively he looks near ready. Had a good one timer, nice passes and solid skating the blue line.

I may or may not do another report. If I do it'll be on Levi for sure and maybe Biega.

Wow--I thought Dansk was supposed to be a pretty goalie prospect? Or is he getting hung out to dry?

Canes 5-4--Ganley and Tolchinsky with the last two goals

He is supposed to be pretty good. So either the Canes are scoring some sick goals or he just flat out isn't living up to the hype. He was damn good with the Brynas U-20s in his draft year, and I wasn't holding last year against him because Erie was ****ing awful. Maybe he was a bigger part of the problem then i thought.

Hopefully it's the Canes just beating him. Which, of course, brings up the obligatory, "why isn't anyone streaming this" so we can see what's happening? Do the Canes office guys not have a camera and a laptop, a camera phone, something?

Any idea if the Chaput on the Blue Jackets is related to the Chaput who used to be a Canes prospect?

To be fair, I expected Sergey to rip this tournament apart because the style suits him incredibly well. It's basically shinny. Three lines rolling out and everybody trying to score. Goaltending being what it is at this level and the forwards/defense being a step ahead, there's going to be a lot of offensive creativity. The same reason that Murphy is shining to a degree. It does speak well that these guys offensively aren't missing a beat, but it would be wise not to read a hell of a lot into this tournament.

It will be interesting to see how he fares in the Soo this year, where he'll basically have to do it alone in terms of playing with guys who have a very real shot at NHL futures.

The beat on Rask has never been he wasn't a strong point scorer or didn't have the hockey sense to make it work. His sins are diminished at this level too. I'm not surprised by his success. I don't doubt he will have a strong AHL season either.

Rask is close to NHL at this point, so it's good he's stepping up and playing like it. I think he's a legit nhl prospect, second line player most likely at his peak. His skating is always his weakness but he's strong on the puck and on his skates, has a soft touch on his passes, sees the ice like a good Swedish prospect would, and can take it the net as well. I've used the stastny, berglund comparison before, and I think it still stands. The skating will likely keep him from being a first liner, but he's adapted at every level he's played at to this point. It would be interesting to see he and lindholm together someday. I haven't seen much of karlson at all yet. Would like to see some clips. The fact he's at this tourney is a good sign to me, he must want to be over here.

i'm glad to see that Tolchinsky continues to do so well. unfortunately due to 3-4 inches, his career will be an uphill struggle all the way despite talent.

I had prepared myself to fall for Rask at the U20's this year and watched him pretty closely. I wanted to see what others were seeing in his game. What I ended up walking away with was a player that was incredible at thinking the game, made smart passes but nothing overly creative, adept at making the smart play, serviceable on the boards even by NHL standards, but a guy that could never quite get to where he wanted to be in time to make it happen. And the way I see it is that if you're not skating at a high level when you're 19 with a long frame with low body fat, you're not going to make it work when you get up to playing weight.

I think Stastny is infinitely more skilled than Rask. Had Stastny played in the CHL he probably would have been a 100 point guy. A guy that if he didn't have the misfortune of stepping into the league at the same time as Malkin would have won a Calder trophy. He has taken something of a poor trajectory since then, but he's still the real deal offensively. I just don't see that in Rask.

With enough training, speed can be improved. John Tavares improved his speed and turned a weakness into a strength in only a couple of seasons.

Let's hope Rask can do the same.

Well, I've watched stastny all through college and on here. He's a skilled but complimentary player, who was always the slowest guy in the rink. He made his way by good positioning, living in soft spots on the ice, and having soft hands in the passes. I see a lot of the same in rask. Stastny started going downhill as the talent around him decreased, like I said before he's a complimentary player not a leader. Rask is similar in how he adapted as he went along in Charlotte last season. A first he couldn't keep up at all, and was lacking confidence. Every game he got better and started anticipating the play quicker to put himself in better position much like stastny does. Time will tell, but I'm not completely sold on stastny being miles beyond rask in skill. I think the skating is improving as well. It comes down to being able to read the play and getting yourself into the spots you need to be in. I think like stastny he can learn to be where he has to be to produce. We'll see over the next couple of seasons. I just think he's solid and skilled. He can maybe have an impact on the level of vasicek or more, which would be helpful though obviously they're different players.

Tolchinsky will have some good linemates this year.. our team is young yes, but he will be on a line with McCann who should be a top 10 pick this year and OA Andrew Fritsch who should be over a PPG... our 1st line wont be in the issue in the Sault.. Tolchinsky will have guys to play with.

Today's audio-only feed (LINK) goes live at 3:30PM EST and is not available via TuneIn or any other apps. Feed info: PBP by Paul Hamilton, PBP man for Niagara Univ., and color by Brian Duff, MSG-Buffalo studio host and formerly of NHLN. Highlights will be up on Sabres.com and/or YouTube afterwards. Cheers.

Yes. Shoulder injury/soreness. Apparently still lingering from the prospect camp. Hopefully it's just a precaution but it's impossible to know.
Any word if he'll try and play today? I recall reading that he was optimistic for your last game, but I see he didn't make it into the lineup.

wish the Canes took it seriously enough to send someone there to do audio play by play, or video highlights at least. Thank god for the Sabers and Rangers coverage for what we've been able to get at all.
