From Twitter: Victor Rask finds the loose puck and beats Skapski to put the Canes up 1-0. #CanesTC

Don't see it on Pointstreak yet though.

EDIT: Pointstreak says Stephan Pierog scored it.

CanesTC Twitter said Rask. Pointstreak also doesn't show Tolchinsky, but they are saying he's playing on Twitter so not sure how accurate the pointstreak is.

Carolina Hurricanes @Canes_Gameday
Canes goal was credited to free agent tryout Stephen Pierog, for now.

#CanesTC 1st period observations: Rask best player on ice; Woods is a beast who has real upside; Karlsson can really skate;

#CanesTC 2. Tolchinsky looks like he is going to score; what hands & anticipation; Levi crushed a guy w hipcheck; McGinn will unleash heat

Pointstreak operates in real time, so we're going to see "behind the curtain" a bit with the scorekeeping errors and such. Considering they're running a local tournament with a bunch of thrown-together rosters, there's likely to be a bit of confusion with the scoring plays and that will be reflected in the real-time Pointstreak feed. Not as much of an issue with an NHL officiating crew scoring a game with familiar rosters and cameras all over the place.

edit: a good example of this is the two 'New Player' entries on the Canes roster. Most likely the scorekeeper entered an incomplete roster to begin with, and then realized there were 2 extra guys on the ice, but didn't have time to find out who they were before the game started.

I only stayed the first period and half the 2nd and Rask is a player. He has amazing hands and hockey sense. Stood out big time. He has a quick release as well. He's not afraid of contact and initiates it as well. Was 2 for 2 on faceoffs that I recorded. Levi went for a few big hits and landed a couple ok hits. Murphy seemed to chase the puck a lot in the d zone, but seemed smart on the PP. Tolchinsky has awesome hands and a quick skater, but awful defensively. He won't make it unless he improves his defense. Multiple times let his man beat him to the net for a quality chance. His offensive upside is good though.

Once Rask develops. He is going to be an awesome player for us. He will be called up some this season for sure! He seems to be physical and I love that.

Murphy had one bad turnover, otherwise I though he looked dominant with the puck. Unsurprising. Those highlights were made for the rangers, so im curious if the play was really that one sided or if its understandably intentionally edited for ranger fans, cause we overall got owned and our goalie stood on his head in the clip.

Otherwise few surprises. Rask looked above the level, which he should. Mcginn looked scrappy but undeveloped physically. Karlson looks fast and unselfish, tolchinsky looks like a dangly, pint sized Russian winger. It would be nice to see a more canes oriented clip so we could see them work the zone more. Hopefully we get more of a look.
