Let me give a huge boost to this guys development curve:

Skapsi does not sound like an NHL player.

There ya go.

Now that I've done that he will be the best player in our pipeline b4 the coming season is done.

just basing on stats from the game it seems they played well. anytime u put up nearly 40 shots things are clicking on offense and the transition game had to be solid.

Highlights are up on Blueshirts United.

Looks like a lot of missed chances from our side. Kristo looks dangerous every time he touches the puck.

Kristo looked dangerous. Yogan's goal was pretty. There were a few guys on our side who showed some pretty nice speed here and there. Noreau lost the puck right in front of the goalie on that one play though.

For Carolina, Murphy looked great.

Observations from the highlight package;

First line looked good. They created chances and stayed in the offensive zone, just didn't finish. Fast made some excellent passes. On a line with Kristo, he's the playmaker, and Kristo is the shooter. They also didn't get scored against. Lindberg looked good.

St. Croix made some nice plays but is going to have to be quicker with his decisions. He doesn't have the space at this level but it's only game #1.

Duclair looked very outmatched but he's sooooooo young. Probably one of the youngest guys in the tournament so this is a great experience for him. He'll learn.

The D doesn't have any real puck movers so the transition game won't be great. All in all a fine performance. Let's see what these guys got tomorrow.

Agree on everything here except Duclair, thought out of the players that got keyed on he looked really good. Kristo, Yogan, and Duclair were all over the place and involved Lindberg looked pretty good, these clearly aren't our top notch defense prospects though. I do admit to being a Duclair fanboy though.

Some good stuff today. Lots of puck possession, passing, shooting, skating and hitting. Tough looking crew out there. Kantor looks bigger than I thought they said he was. Nice feed by MSC. Nice finish by Yogan. I'm starting to like Yogi. I already like Lindberg. Kristo was very visible. I'd really like to see this tourney live. I hear TC is beautiful.

after watching the condensed game I thought the boys played great for their first game. Did everything right, won battles, hit, possessed the puck, created chances, they ran into a good goalie and that was probably the difference. I don't think Skapski starts tomorrow. I agree with BU Duclair actually looked good, he was slippery and made good passes. Kantor also stood out, lots of hits and post whistle scrum.

Fast(No "h", so its official!?)-Lindberg-Kristo clearly dominated. Neither Fast nor Lindberg are really comming from a 150 pts in 60 games in junior background, and we shouldn't expect them to lit up a tournament. That's not their game, but they can create offense and did just that. Kristo looked like expected, an elite scorer at the College level. How well can he transform to the pro-game? Its important to have someone like him in the system. Lastly, Fast is often reported to be able to play both sides, and its true that he has a history of that. But, only on lines where he got more of a free role and basically can be all over the place and on the big ice in Europe. I do get a sense that he is more of a RW in NA. Especially when it comes to him getting his shot of etc. He is more of a sniper than playmaker, but on the LW, he seems to become a playmaker only.

St. Croix is clearly overmatched. In many situations. But, we don't score that PP goal unless he is handling the puck and making the passes he are right before that goal. On a few segments, he was doing just that. Elite, crisp passing. Great poise. Calm with the puck.

Also, as always, its early September. Its the first game of the year for these kids. Nobody knows each other. Its the same for the other team. We can look at how players moves etc, fine. But you can't draw too many parallels from a game like this. Skapski gave up goals that are given up in just exactly a game like this. And so forth.

Also, they should have changed the scoreboard, it seemed like NYR played Ryan Murphy on those highlites. He was pickpocketed once. Besides that he was litterary behind like 97% of any played Carolina made. What an offensive talent. The level of play in the game yesterday wasn't low, but he was clearly heads and shoulders above the rest.

It was quite obvious in general that when the 3rd and 4th linees where out there, the level of play was much lower. Our first line carried the play, but they faced 5 guys who could at least take away the ice. When the 3rd and 4th lines where out there, the caliber was from from NHL hockey. Alot of open ice infront of the nets etc.

Andrew Yogan's chances of playing for the actual NYR?

I'd say pretty good. He's big, strong, has some skill and does little things. He finished last season strong, and if he carries that into this year then he's probably looking at a cup of coffee late in the season.

He's an unheralded guy, but I like him.

Skapski looks to have had a rough outing from the stats/limited highlights. Lots of juicy rebounds and poor positioning. He's still very young.

Yeah I am not sure where the bashing of Yogan has come from. The guy was drafted the same year as Lindberg and (2) years after Kristo and yet he is too old for this tournament? He missed an entire season due to injury and he is a power forward, they take longer to develop on average. I would say the organization likes him considering they put the 'C' om his jersey. Who were the past captains?

From watching the video, the Rangers forwards were buzzing for most of the game. They look like they have good team speed and decent size up front. Laroux was noticeable a few times and he can throw with both hands which is impressive for a kid his age.
