They all seemed to over-pass, and it's a shame we didn't have big Mac clearing the guys in the crease on 2 of those goals. Lots of missed opportunities really sums up this game. For a first game, you really can't much better results than what they gave us, it just didn't reflect on the scoreboard. I remember in 2011, Ryan Murphy looked dangerous against us and maybe even one of the best players on the Ice.

Guys that's Kristos game

He's a puck hog hotdog always has been

Having said that he's immensely talented and can be a game breaker

Not sure he's in NHL shape at all but we'll see

Also it's hard to make assumptions from that video. The first line appeared to look great. MSC appeared to be invisible once again. Overall though it seemed like a very winnable game, which is a good sign in a tournament that doesn't hold a ton of weight.

How was MSC invisible? Once again? When was the last time?

He made a few nice passes, particularly on Yogan's goal. Not sure what you are expecting from him, especially considering that the video is just a highlight reel.

Was thinking the same thing.

Really couldn't get a feel for anyone or anything from the camera angle, but the pass from MSC on the Yogan goal was sweet.

Would be nice to see them play an actual game, but I don't put much stock into one game.

I said "appeared". He had a the puck on a powerplay once and made a nice pass to Yogan. Didn't notice him otherwise. I'm well aware it's hard to get a grasp from a highlight package.

He was terrible in the 2011 tournament. That's what I was referring to when I said "again".

Kristo looked good, but I have to agree he may have tried to do too much at times.

Part of it may be that he's 23 and has four years college experience, he's got to be one of the older, more experienced guys in the tourny no?

Older yes, experience, not even closed compared to others.

Kristo's hockey IQ is just poor. Main reason he doesn't know when to hold it and when to pass it. It sucks, because he'd be a really good player if he actually knew what to do.

I'd say pretty good. He's big, strong, has some skill and does little things. He finished last season strong, and if he carries that into this year then he's probably looking at a cup of coffee late in the season.

He's an unheralded guy, but I like him.

This^.
For actual NYR, we need to cap dump Pyatt, Powe

Just cause he likes to hang onto the puck doesnt mean his IQ is poor. Sure its likely not a strong suit, but I think saying its poor is pushing it. Players with low hockey IQ usually don't dominate at the college level like he was able to. There is a lot more to hockey IQ then when to pass or not.

Before someone else mentions it, Brian Boyle.

Most of the time though, the players with poor hockey IQ who dominate at the lower levels are physically developed. That was never the case with Kristo.

I just think people haven't seen a player in a long time who normally likes to try to make a 1 v 1 move or make a skill play with the puck more often than not. It's a strange sight in Rangerland.

Kristo looked dangerous. Yogan's goal was pretty. There were a few guys on our side who showed some pretty nice speed here and there. Noreau lost the puck right in front of the goalie on that one play though.

For Carolina, Murphy looked great.

Excellent. Increases possibility of Justin Faulk becoming available.

Having seen Kristo play a hell of a lot, I can pretty much say with authority that he has low hockey IQ. He is not a smart player. Kristo is going to be a solid player, but it will be more based on his skills than his mental game. His problem has always been in the head. His main knock has generally been his IQ.

The funny thing with Kristo is that the minute he was traded to the Rangers articles went around about his "high" or "nice" hockey IQ. I thought that was a bit funny and a bit of the anti-Habs sentiment that the non-Montreal media has. I admit I got a bit of a laugh.

Yogan has a decent chance to play in the NHL whether with the Rangers or not. Good size, good hand and he's progressing as a player. He won't be a big scorer IMO but the kind of guy who will chip in.

Lindberg-Kristo-Fast(h)--all played very well. All have the look of future NHL players. I liked the brief glimpses of Kantor. Leroux is over his head as a player here but he buckled his guy in the fight.

Skapski for a just drafted guy did okay.

On the other side noticed Murphy looked really slick.

Agreed, which is why I'd be inclined to support some strategy where we either trade him or let him develop, then keep or swap. But I don't want to give up decent potential for nothing.

No it doesn't.

If John Moore looks great does it make McDonagh available?

1. In a vacuum, no, but if a guy like Stamkos is available, it helps pay that price.

2. You sayin' McD for us parallel to Faulk for Canes?
I realize he's good and has value, but valued as highly in CAR as we value McD here?

You mean like Rick Nash throughout the entire playoffs? I got so frustrated watching him try and deke out defenders every time he had the puck.

It's painful to not be able to watch the games. I'm so hungry for NYR hockey right now and these games would be a nice appetizer.

It's like when you're driving home and feel the burn of Montezuma's Revenge coming on in the belly. You're telling your body that you only have 15 minutes left and to relax but your body just instinctively wants the damn toilet now.

Pretty damn close.
