Looks like none of our forwards really doesn't stand out clear potential. Perunovich and Tucker are easy picks.

I like Washkurak. Mini-Steener. I think he pans out as a depth player. Neighbors might not end up as a top-6 guy, but I like his game, too, he has an NHL future. Dickinson has shown some good stuff, too.

Washkurak is a nice surprise He’s just sold all the way around and plays smart
agree. He seems to shine most of forward group with Laferriere who imo looks really good too.

Washkurak reminds me of Vladdy Sobotka, nearly same size as well.

Liking Neighbours, reminds me some of a young Oshie without the flash. Needs 2 years more of development but I can see him being a valuable middle-6 forward.

What stands out to me about Neighbors is his awareness and his hand-eye in small areas. He watches the ice well and appears to know where everyone will be, so he knows which way to cycle it even when his back is to the play, etc. And when he's battling or reaching for a puck, he has quick and accurate hands to bat the puck out of the air or win a battle along the boards. He can make crisp passes and screen the goalie, too. He's not especially fast and doesn't seem to have a dynamic next level to his play, but the assets that he has will translate to the NHL soon. So I think two more years is likely if you think his speed and offensive game can really blossom. Otherwise, it might be better for him to hit the NHL in 2022 so his best qualities don't stagnate.

Our kids played really well tonight. Our prospect depth is really underrated. Thoughts on some of our forwards:

Alexandrov- He has been very quiet so far. I expected more from him. Not saying he won't be good player, but he has long way to go. Probably biggest disappointment for me.

Dickinson- One of only 2 2020 picks for us here, so keep in mind he is really young. Shows flashes. Obviously a long way from NHL, but he definitely has a chance to be bottom 6 guy.

Joshua- A presence with his size and physical play. He's never gonna be more than 4th liner, and question whether he can even be good one at that, but decent depth option.

Laferriere- He looks pretty good. Decent size, shows nice speed and hands. Look forward to what he can do as pro. He has a chance to be decent middle 6 player down the road if he is willing to put the work in.

McGing- He was really good tonight. Seems to do lots of things well. He has real chance to be quality 3rd liner in a couple years.

Neighbours- He was much better tonight. Looked much more comfortable. Asserted himself all over ice. Showed excellent hands, good awareness, super physicality. Really excited for his potential as top 6 power winger. Probably a year away.

Toropchencko- He was quietly good. Love the size and speed. Not much skill but he has a chance to be 4th liner in a couple years.

Washkurak- I like him. Good speed and energy and a bit bigger than I thought. Like his potential as bottom 6 guy in a couple years.

Thoughts on D (and goalie) tonight-

Galloway- He is youngest guy here but thought he acquitted himself well tonight. Looked much better than yesterday. Has size and agility you look for in NHL defenseman. Obviously several years away, but the potential is there to be NHLer.

Perunovich- Dominated. Seriously, against this competition he looks like Cale Makar. I don't expect that against NHLers, but I expect he contends for roster spot this year.

Tucker- He is big and physical but otherwise kinda meh. Like Borts without Borts' agility. I think will be real uphill battle for him to ever become NHL regular.

Ellis- He was good. Don't have NHL camera angles or replays so hard to pass too much judgment on him (or Hofer yesterday), but I like what I see. Thinking he will bounce between AHL and ECHL this year to get some games in.

Really liking Ellis in goal. He's got real potential.
Ellis looked very sharp. He looked a LOT better than Hofer. I have higher hopes that he'll be The Blues' backup than Husso, within the next couple years.

Washkurak looked very good. He's solid in a lot of different areas. I hope he'll be a super 4th liner in The NHL, who can also fill in on The 3rd line when needed. Tucker also looked very solid. Great to see he has improved his skating to average for a big man. He played physically, but also made some good defensive plays and good passes.

Perunovich looked good, but made a few bad passes, playing nonchalantly, rather than being reasonably careful. But, he's got some nifty moves to get around players, and good instinct about where they are going to go. I'd still like to see him work on his speed for distance, to get back into plays if he gets trapped. He needs to get a lot stronger, too. But, he's got a nice, sneaky quickly-released shot, and can hit the corners, and great offensive awareness. I think he's got an absolute floor of being an NHL Power Play QB specialist, and maybe can also play regularly in a 2nd pairing role.

Neighbours played better in Game 2. He's got a lot of the tools. I hope he can become a power forward. The whole Blues' team played chippy tonight. That helped them dominate the game. Alexandrov was a bit disappointing in both games. Luce. Dickenson, Laferriere, McGing, even invitee Guy impressed some. I wonder if they'll sign him?

I wanted to see Tucker for the first time and I watched the game last night. He was very active physically.

I've read that he has improved his skating to the NHL level.

Lets see how he does in the minors this year. He has already come a long way - a 7th round pick who found some offense to his game after being drafted.

I don't know you guys, but Guy has been quite impressive in these 2 games.

Brayden Guy at eliteprospects.com

Good thing is he can dropp the mitts too.

As I stated in the post just above yours, his play impressed me, and I wonder if The Blues will sign him. His stats with The Sarnia Sting of The OHL aren't very impressive, but, if they had been, he'd have been drafted. Yet, The OHL has the highest level of play in Canadian Juniors, and on the eye test, he looked good. And he was rated as the 24th right wing prospect in North America. So, he probably has NHL potential.

I agree all, but I didn't see on Neighbours anything special. Sluggish and with his speed hard to see him have anything special vs. pro's. Has to work hard on his skating if he wants to be NHL'er. Fall as bad as Alexandrov.

Laferriere and Washkurak are biggest positive suprise.

Hopefully McGing can snipe a couple of more goals. He didn't get much accomplished in 23 games with Utica last season, but he could be a candidate to benefit from some stability in Springfield. He's an ultimate long-shot, but he's represented himself well thus far in the tourney.

Baby Blues getting worked 2-0 in the first by the Baby Stars. Team looks tired, getting out worked by an opponent who played last night.

After McGing scored, he and Perunovich were lined up talking to each other. McGing looks bigger than Perunovich. Just something I noticed.... I agree that he made some pretty nonchalant passes that lead to turnovers, but all and all he seemed to be up to the defense task with the Red Wings prospects. I sure hope it translates to the AHL level this year. I think he needs a year to see what he can get away with at the AHL level and what he can't moving forward... I really liked the play of Tucker and Luce to keep the Red Wings forwards off their game. I just see some bottom six potential from some of our forwards...pretty meh... The goalie excited me more than anyone else. He was steady and up to the task.

It can be misleading but they have Neighbours at 5’11”/6’ and standing next to perunovich they look roughly around the same height. Who knows nowadays…
