Whole building bit on a slap shot from Reunanen and he sent it to a wide open Jones for a one timer. Really was a great goal.

Reunanen just looks like a pro too. He’s better than a few guys we have in Hartford right now already.
Watch out for him in preseason. It's not unreasonable to think he can be with the big boys, especially if ADA continues to hold out.

Figure 3 spots on defense are set in stone. Staal, Skjei, and Trouba. Figure Smith and Fox will be there too. All of the others are up for grabs. Waiting for Hajek, Reunanen, or Rykov to grab the brass ring and win the last spot out of camp so ADA's ass can continue to hold out while the Rangers continue to hold all of the leverage.

Skjei-Trouba
Staal-Fox
Reunanen/Hajek/Rykov/Crowley

Smith

Not bad, IMO, with Miller, Robertson, Jones and Lundkvist on the way. Bye Tony.

I actually think Kemp is a decent player. He’s got some talent. Skates well righty shot. 2 goals in game one when everyone else no showed

since Kemp is 19 and WHL (only 3 seasons so far) ,
i believe he can not be signed to AHL deal, only NHL ELC,
but could then be returned to WHL

Brett Kemp at eliteprospects.com

Occasional nice moments for Salinitri and Masur ...
none of Milan, Landry, Carson, Getson have impressed me much.

Just a gut feeling but If he continues to play like this into main camp I don’t think they ever let Reunanen go back to Europe. He’s too good. Time is now to get him acclimated to NA. He should be a top 4 guy in Hartford to start the season.

Keane on the other hand makes dumb play after dumb play. He’s going to be one of the first cuts you watch. Trying to do way to much just total opposite of his first year with us.
He can make the team, especially if Tony continues to hold out.

Hot take #2 - Henriksson is more likely to be the Rangers’ 2C than either Andersson or Chytil.
Don't think that's really a hot take. Both players are wingers or out of the organization in two years, IMO. This season is huge for both of them.

He’s basically what I thought we’d be getting with Andersson.

But he’s def One of those glue type centers that makes the guys around him better for sure

He has a natural feel for the position that I don’t sense in either Andersson or Chytil. Chytil is immensely talented and will be a top 6 forward in this league. I’m not sure it’s as a center.

Huska just let in his first truly bad goal of the tourney. Not even sure how that went in he just missed it with his glove. He’s been great but that’s ugly. Right st the end of the 2nd

4-2 end of 2

Not at all comparing the two stylistically, but he's not unlike Nick Backstrom in that regard. One of those players that make his linemates better, but plays such a quiet game and you look back at the end of the season and say "He had how many points?!?!?" and "Wow, I didn't realize his CF% was so good".

He's not that flashy in terms of the eye test, but his advanced numbers are going to be top notch.

no love for Lindgren, and the obligatory dis of Day

i for one could see Lindgren slip into NYR in 7th/8th spot for a bit, ahead of Rykov (new to NA/rink, TC injury), Hajek (coming back from injury), Tarmo (new to NA, could be loaned back to Liiga)

Eh, I don't know, Lindgren has such limited upside to me. He can definitely get some games in this year in the NHL after injuries, but he has a lot of competition on that left side to get time.

Day has good tools but he just makes too many mistakes even at the AHL level. He'd be toast at least 2 to 3 times a game in the NHL.

showing my age here, but this reminds of how they used to say batters would have a 'comfortable' 0-4 vs Catfish Hunter,
thought they saw the ball well, swung well, weren't overwhelmed, felt 'comfortable' - but were actually kinda dominated ...

It’s 4-2

Lindgren does nothing for me. He’s a guy that wants to be a big strong mean shut down Dmen in Neil Pionk’s body.

Doesn’t move pucks well either. Maybe 2 years ago he’d have a shot here. Not now. Not with what we’ve got coming. I think he’ll be moved eventually

Hartford should look like

Rykov Raddyish
Reunanen Keane
Lindgren Day
Crawley

Think they brought in a few veteran guys too I can’t remember names but one or two right guys one a Calder winner he may factor in. But can’t think of names at all.

sorry guys late to the party. Is Fox, Kakko or Kravtsov playing?

I like Henriksson and all, but... I mean, c’mon

I get what you mean (too).

Must be confusing for people not watching. Henriksson is all over the ice, breaking up plays, making good plays with the puck, stickhandling through traffic and walking around defenders — OTOH many are posting stuff like ‘but he isn’t THAT great’. Because he isn’t, it’s not like he has a tool box that is better than the normal 1st round pick. Take say a Joe Velano or someone like that, it’s not like Henriksson is much better.

But — a few things. Many 1st round picks that play in this tournament y+1 doesn’t have a very big impact. Henriksson’s play overall is definitely above what the avg. 1st round pick contributes with his y+1 year.

And Henriksson is certainly not an early bloomer or some sort of kid that we should expect to come in high and then level off. If anything it’s the opposite. He looks better this year than he did last season. A bit more explosive, smarter and more poised in general. If anything it can be noted that he played two sports much much longer than what is the norm today, and that he was a junior national team player in soccer too (at least in camp for the youngest ages, U15). That held back his hockey career for a while, there is a quite significant overlap between the hockey season and soccer season so he would have missed a lot of practices in both sports.

So from my POV, we should definitely not let the expectations go rampant. But it’s certainly very exciting to follow him — and I wouldn’t put any ceiling on his potential.

3 vet D on AHL deals, returnee Zach Tolkinen, and new guys Jeff Taylor and Vincent LoVerde
