According to who?
When he signed his ELC, his Finnish team's press release said (translated) that "he has a clause that if he is not in the NHL, he will return to Lukko." I haven't seen it verified anywhere else and last I looked CapFriendly doesn't show him with an EAC, but I assume that's what people are referring to.

I know it’s “just a stupid prospect tournament”, but stepping in as an 18 year old and putting up a respectable performance is really impressive.

You never know with this but I don’t think it’s that definite. If he’s close they’ll try and get him to stay for sure. But we’ll see

thanks. i also like Nick Jones, but I am shocked that he is on a 2 year AHL deal. I guess they want to offer him a NHL contract next summer. most AHL deals are usually one year or so I thought.

if i read this article correctly, LAST season may have counted as first year
UND's Nick Jones, Hayden Shaw sign pro deals | Grand Forks Herald Mar 19th 2019
"Senior center Nick Jones signed a two-year, one-way deal with the Hartford Wolf Pack in the AHL, according to Herald sources.
His contract will start immediately. Hartford is the top minor-league affiliate of the New York Rangers."

they should ELC him, he is already giving me Marchessault fears

EDIT: fwiw, eliteprospects also lists Jones' contract ending in '20

Yeah, I am 99% certain last year was his first year, and this will be his second.

Fox crushes everyone with 9 pts just sharpie it!

I get what you mean (too).

Must be confusing for people not watching. Henriksson is all over the ice, breaking up plays, making good plays with the puck, stickhandling through traffic and walking around defenders — OTOH many are posting stuff like ‘but he isn’t THAT great’. Because he isn’t, it’s not like he has a tool box that is better than the normal 1st round pick. Take say a Joe Velano or someone like that, it’s not like Henriksson is much better.

But — a few things. Many 1st round picks that play in this tournament y+1 doesn’t have a very big impact. Henriksson’s play overall is definitely above what the avg. 1st round pick contributes with his y+1 year.

And Henriksson is certainly not an early bloomer or some sort of kid that we should expect to come in high and then level off. If anything it’s the opposite. He looks better this year than he did last season. A bit more explosive, smarter and more poised in general. If anything it can be noted that he played two sports much much longer than what is the norm today, and that he was a junior national team player in soccer too (at least in camp for the youngest ages, U15). That held back his hockey career for a while, there is a quite significant overlap between the hockey season and soccer season so he would have missed a lot of practices in both sports.

So from my POV, we should definitely not let the expectations go rampant. But it’s certainly very exciting to follow him — and I wouldn’t put any ceiling on his potential.
I don’t disagree, but anointing him as better (or just a better fit for 2C in the future) than Andersson or Chytil or even Howden is an incredibly far stretch when Andersson had already finished a full SHL season and was about to be the 2C of the team Henriksson isn’t going to make at the same point in their careers while Henriksson is going to be back in J20. Like, we’re ready to say that Andersson isn’t going to be on this team for very long because he wasn’t a full time player in his D+2 season where we’ll also be hoping that Henriksson will be a SHL staple in his D+2 season

So Hartford is going to have new coaches.

Most likely the blueline listed above plus a veteran or two

And guys like Newell Elmer Lettieri Jones beleskey Dmowski De Giuseppe O Regan Fogarty Meskanen probably Nieves too up front, maybe even Andersson and Shesterkin/Huska goalie combo? There’s no reason they shouldn’t be very good.

Congrats, you just jinxed them for the year....

Can’t argue with that kind of logic... haha

he has a clause but I don't think its automatic that he goes back. Shesterkin has a EAC that allows him to go back to the KHL but he can also agree to play in hartford. so i'd imagine its the same here if the rangers want tarmo in hartford and he agrees to play in hartford because he says it as the faster route to the nhl than he should be allowed to stay.

I personally think it comes down to what the bluelines in NY & Hartford look like and the amount of ice time he'd get in Hartford...he likely gets top pair minutes in finland so it makes no sense to keep him if he won't get at least top 4 minutes in hartford (which becomes a possible issue if none of hajek, rykov or lindgren are ready to start the year in the nhl)
