What in Gallants body of work with the Rangers would make you feel optimistic about him changing at all once the season starts? His personnel decisions are the worst I’ve ever seen. Even Quinn made better choices with his lineups.

i think he could easily change things before the season starts. if laf is dominant and blais is doing nothing hes going to do what he needs to to win games. i just trust more in his track record of winning games, huberdeau and barkov came along pretty well under him too.

i feel like some rangers fans will never be happy. if he was forcefeeding top line mins on the kids last year and we were losing while a 3rd line was showing life there would be outrage over how he is killing any chance of getting playoff experience with his lineup decisions. i havent liked all of his lineup decisions but his players love him and we had a pretty good year last year.

im fine watching things play out. i feel like hes earned that, and i get why hed assemble the lineup this way to take the first look at assuming he means what hes said about the young players stepping up - you need opportunity to do that. so i presume the ice time and opportunities will be pretty equitable until i see otherwise and that its hurting the team. we could go 82-0-0 and there would be people outraged at his or any other coach's decision making.

What in this board's body of work would make you feel optimistic about a reasoned, logical, "wait and see" response being what ANYONE wants to hear? Hahaha.

I am kinda pulling for Vesey to make the team and be on that 4th line. As long as he can provide PK ability, bring that physical style he inserts into his game, and be responsible, he could be a solid replacement for Motte. He also has a little scoring touch so in the event of injury he can provide some flexibility for us. Its a long season.

It’s going to be funny years from now when HF posters are complaining that we should break up the Kid line like we’ve done in recent years with Kreider/Mika and Panarin/Strome. Time is a flat circle.

i dont get why we always need to be mad....but its so absurd sometimes theres almost a charm to it

i partly blame the org...weve been abused for so long we jump straight to outrage long before they can do it again

In regards to Hajek/Jones, I have no problem with Gallant showing Hajek the opportunity to start camp. He's the "veteran" of the two. Say what you want about Hajek but he was in limbo with the team all last season and then some. He's likely worked his tail off this summer like every other player wanting to improve. He's paid his dues to at least get a good look.

The thing about all of this is us fans are sitting here looking at lineups and we make our assumptions on players based on the games we watch on TV and whatever other media we are fed. We aren't sitting in meetings, coaching and basically living with all of these guys like family for 8-9 months of the year.

Hajek has been at almost every practice, road trip and team function over the past 3 years. When hes up in the press box not playing, he is out of sight and mind for the fanbase. But he is an individual, a real person who you have to look in the eye and try to develop just like everyone else.

Its just as much about respect, even if he may not win the job. Jones will have to take that spot from him, and it's very possible he can, and will. But you extend the look to the guy with seniority in this regard and for all intensive purposes is at the same level with the other 2 or 3 guys fighting for the 6th-7th spot

Gallant was so bad last season that the Rangers had the first pick in the draft after the season.

I do have to point out, Kakko looked great last year at training camp/pre-season as well. Then things fizzled out at a bit (obviously injuries were a huge factor). Nonetheless, still nice to see/hear that he's looking good.
