Like the look of old man Laffy.

Nil's number is just for camp right? 64 is an ugly assed number. Would hate if he stuck with it.

I really hope Kreider is not on the top 6 to start the season...unless he's ready to put on his big boy pants and actually give 100% every game. But that's unlikely.

Last years lack of leadership debacle couldn't have been anymore evident. Lockerrom issues, fistfights, no leadership on ice, team was bullied, teams best players was literally choke slammed by a rival's good. Team missed playoffs. The results were the GM fired, President fired. Coach Fired.

I would say its time for some leadership on the NY Rangers.

You believe if Trouba gets a C it will matter?

You don't think he talked in the locker room last season?

Fans care more about the C than the players.

Gallant is such an "aw-schucks" kinda guy. Not much in his pressers to make you belive he is this great motivator. He is very old school in regards to systems play.

I think where he excels is in the room and motivating in his own way. He seems to be very hands off other than "give me your best effort every night" - That's all he asks for.

If you look at a guy like Quinn he did a hell of a lot of communicating, over communication to a point, maybe over-doing it with systems play to a fault.

Gallant may be the exact opposite. He understands there is a need for structure but in the end its about the team being a team and buying into whatever it is you are trying to do as a group. We saw it for Canada at the Worlds, we saw it with a bunch of "rejects" put together in Vegas.

He understands that every player at this level is talented enough to be here so its less about teaching and line combos and numbers and all about team work and putting in the right effort each and every night.

To me that was the very thing that was lacking from Quinn. The team was not ready to come out and play in the play-in Covid tourney and during many first periods throughout his stint here.

I am getting the impression that we wont be seeing much of that any more, no matter what the roster and lines look like or if Laf and Kreids are on the right side and Fox is paired with Miller.

Can they even play RW? Both are natural LWs.

So another coach who doesn't have a system. Great.

Its not that hard to switch wings, there's an adjustment but most players at some point have spent some time on their off wing at some time. I always prefered it because it was easier to shoot from the middle as opposed to the wall.

100% this. Its not like these guys lobby for it.

To be honest there really isnt a natural captain on this roster. But if we need a C, so be it

In NYC especially, theres a lot of unnecessary pressure along with a C. Which is why I would feel more comfortable with Trouba than Fox.

I know it's an inevitability but I'd be embarrassed to see Trouba with the "C".

The fact that I'd be embarrassed is also how I know it's inevitable.

I actually don't want Kakko to play with Panarin if Strome is at C. They will just want him to play like Fast and not utilize his strengths. Kakko and Panarin would work great together with a complimentary C, but Strome is not that guy. 3 playmakers on one line is not good chemistry and balance.

Stuffing Kreider into the top 6 just because he is Kreider is a Quinn type move.

if he plays well enough to be there in camp then fine, but it shouldn’t be at the expense of a younger player’s better position.
Yeah. I would like Kreider playing bottom six. More of a simple, checking, puck possession game. I think it would suit him. Could always move him up if needed. And he would still be a pp mainstay. But in general give him a simple but tough role.

Kakko would just need to start scoring then

e: I think Kreider is still a top six player and if he's on the 3rd line then that's a sign of good depth and options, not that Kreider isn't a top six guy anymore
