i thought Kravtsov looked like crap after the Goodrow penalty. but he looked amazing before that.
I might not like him with Chytil.

He's a great physical talent but I'm still critical of Chytils playmaking/IQ/Vision. It's amazing to see how often he 'takes away' space and time from his linemates. It's weird.

Chytil has a lot to learn about playing with better players before he replaces Strome.

We end the preseason @ the islanders. I'm sure they will play in that one, and likely in every game against them in the regular season.

Tired of their Identity Line having their way each time.

Kravtsov and Kreider should flip but I don't think that duo was an issue yesterday.

Chytil will benefit from a simplified game. A Power Center. Be the bull or workhorse of your line. Dominate the boards and the front of the net. That will be his bread and butter.

I've been begging for this. Maybe on PP2? He arguably has the best slap shot on the team
I don't know if this is the case, but it can't be a downgrade from Trouba who can't even get it to the net. The amount of times his shot gets blocked feels astronomical.

Miller's puck skills at the blueline still are not at the NHL powerplay level, though I think it's only a matter of time before Trouba is no longer a PP guy on this team. Jones, Miller, Lundkvist are all options to replace him.

Gallant already ruining our top prospects by not letting them play their games? This is the guy they expect to take us to the next level?

Speaking of the pp. I really felt they should have tried Nils out on pp1 last night. Put him in the Panarin spot where he can shoot it. Even on pp2 they put him on the right side instead of the left. Doesn't he play the play the left side on the pp back in Sweden? Besides Mika there wasn't anyone on the ice with a better shot than Nils and with Panarin not playing he could have been in his usual spot.

Gallant is putting Kakko and Lafreniere in auspicious positions to start the year, which deserves praise.

They're going to get a lot more opportunities playing with Panarin and Zibanejad than they would all together with Chytil.

By the looks of things, it’s gonna be Laf, Kakko and Krav as the top three RWs. That’s fun. I think Krav will need time on the third line. He was easily knocked off the puck, but that should improve as he continues to put on muscle.

As long as he sees time on PP2 and Chytil sees time on the PK. They both need those minutes.

Id rather Nils up top running the PP. Doesn't need to be someone with a cannon, just someone who can distribute the puck well and occasionally keep the goalie honest and throw it on net. Thats why Tony was so successful

That really isn't Nils either.

If you're looking for that on PP2 then Jones is your guy.

My ultimate eventual PP2 would be

---------Kakko-------
Lundkvist-Strome-Kravtsov
--------Jones-------

Chytil takes over for Strome the following year.

agreed Jones could likely earn that role if/when with the team,
can both orchestrate/distribute, AND get shots though on net

we haven't seen Nils really act a quarterback/orchestrator,
more of an opportunist with great instincts and shot-to-net ability

Thats a bad call... Fogerty held up at the last second and made his head the primary point of contact when it clearly would have been a body/shoulder hit otherwise.

Not really sure what McIlrath is supposed to do there. If the answer is "don't hit" then I want no part of it.
