This upcoming development camp will be interesting. A lot of unknown faces and some players that barely played over the last year or so.

I'm also going to guess a PTO or two will be added to the main roster. There are a few players that would interesting to look at closely and to push the younger players.

There should be several undrafted from the 2021 Draft Class who advanced substantially in anonymity over the past year. I'll make a bold prediction that a few future NHL stars went undrafted in 2021 and will earn ELCs over the next month. Fingers crossed that the Leafs find one of these players.

Looking at our invites for 1st time UDFA not going the college route there's

Braeden Kressler, Lawson Sherk, Ryan Del Monte, Colby Saganiouk upfront
Landon Cato , Sam Sedley, Ethan Peters on defence
Braden Holt in goal

None really had U17 seasons that scream potential, but then who does outside of the very cream of the crop. With no U18 year to go on would definetely be a gutsy call to throw out an ELC based on just dev camp, rookie tourney, main camp, but may well be worth it if a kid shows well.

Few others have forgotten that series.
Yea I definitely haven't haha, was tongue in cheek. I don't have much faith in them to get it done this year, and I can't see us retaining Rielly without ruining our cap situation more so....yea...there will be pain. Babs was right

I agree with her... think Robertson needs to pull it back, reminds me a bit of a young Grabovski.... at first grabs was noticeable because his energy but it didn't lead to alot of scoring chances, and he was getting flattened by the opposing team a lot because he wasn't aware of his surroundings as much as he was just spinning his tires.

Robertson has an incredible shot and a good work ethic, he just needs to know how to focus his energy.

Colby Saganiuk ???

Rocky Saganiuk cheers on grandson Colby with Leafs

Rocky Saganiuk laughs heartily when told how many Maple Leafs fans felt ancient the moment the club released this week’s development camp roster.

Among the forwards was undrafted Chicago-born Colby Saganiuk. Not the son of the boisterous Ballard-era winger — his grandson.

Cheers for that....as if I don't feel old enough already!!

nick Robertson’s intensity limits him from being an effective player. Even in his NHL stints, he wasn’t creating plays. He was getting the puck and firing it from 20 feet out. That’s not effective, he’s too gittery and looked way out of depth. She is 100% right. He needs to settle down and play a calm game. The best players in the world look completely composed when they play.

I do t think his intensity is a problem.i would never fault a player for having too much intensity unless it draws you into penalties and suspensions. I think what he needs to find is a balance where he's tenacious forchecking, but knows when to quietly go find the soft spots to make use of his shot. He's always chasing after it.

Thanks. Kind of you to post that. Cheers.
I'm generous that way.

Here's a few more.
'Dream fit': Holistic approach to development lured Steeves to Leafs
Alex Steeves found it very hard to turn his back on playing a fourth and final year at Notre Dame and finishing his accounting degree at the school’s prestigious Mendoza College of Business.
But the Leafs moved to the front of the line of NHL suitors last spring for the 5-foot-11 centre, who had some Hobey Baker Award buzz with 32 points in 29 games. He signed a three-year NHL entry level deal.
“I wasn’t thinking about leaving until my season ended,” Steeves said. “I wanted 100 per cent to be with my team as we tracked down a national championship. But when the time came to listen to what was out there, I thought I was handling a lot of responsibility, performing at a high level and ready for a new challenge.”
Other teams were in on the Bedford, N.H., forward, but Toronto’s presentation wowed him, not to mention openings at forward in main camp to possibly play with the Core Four.

“It was an attractive option and I jumped all over it,” Steeves said. “Once I met with Kyle Dubas and a few staff members, I was really impressed with the attention to detail, the holistic approach, whether it be Leafs, Marlies or wherever you’re headed. They’re just so invested in their players and I’m a big believer in utilizing resources.”
Steeves intends to finish his degree, though Notre Dame’s shift back to in-class sessions could make that harder in the short term.

Leafs' Robertson determined to regain confidence, scoring touch

Not only was Robertson born on 9/11, he was three months premature. He spent six weeks on life support in Arcadia, Calif., and had a bout of pneumonia. Part of his story will be told in a CBS special on Saturday, which explored how many Americans born on that fateful day have grown up in its shadow.
“I went to New York to film that and look forward to seeing myself on TV and how I did.”

Three young Buds were absent on the first day of camp, defencemen Joseph Duszak (foot) and Riley Court (shoulder), while centre Colby Saganiuk was feeling unwell. While fully vaccinated and COVID-19 negative at this time, Saganiuk was kept out as a precaution … The prospects are also being enlightened on nutrition tips as well as strength and conditioning while in town. Other traditional aspects of this camp, such as social media awareness, were covered in virtual gatherings earlier this summer. Bonding exercises away from the rink had to be cut out as well because of COVID-19 … An afternoon scrimmage will be featured Saturday, though all sessions are closed to the public.

Steeves could become another Bozak or another Braydon Irwin, with Bozak being one of the few successful college signings. You have to keep trying though. If you have the money like the leafs, it’s a good investment and advertisement for recruiting future college stars.
Exactly, you take every Brayden Irwin, Casey Bailey, and Max Veronneau you can for the that once in a decade Tyler Bozak. We've got the money and development team, it's worth it
