Lol Engvall sucks, I'll take Simmonds all day over a guy who can skate fast but does absolutely nothing else
So much this. Engvall is such a soft useless player I can’t believe anyone would even suggest this but I’m also starting to realize 90 of this board doesn’t actually play hockey

engvall had a decent hot streak going into the playoffs last year. as a drw fan would take him for sure as a 3rd liner. also like klingberg he is curious to watch skate being so tall and skinny.

So with two open top 6 spots we have quite a few decent options. Bunting, Ritchie, Kerfoot, Kase, Ho Sang, Robertson…. Enough to have two top scoring lines and then a third line who is still a decent threat to score especially against reduced competition. In this instance I’m torn on the 4th. Defensively responsible with guys able to sub in on PK too…..bang/crash energy line…..yet another scoring line. Glad I don’t have to make these decisions. But also glad we have so many options.

Klingberg on the Stars? Or are you thinking of someone on the Leafs.

What would wings fans be offering in a trade for Engvall?

Ho-Sang is kind of a middle thug, like a real semi-thuggish. He looks the part as an actor. So he should be IN for surely. Maybe starts with the marls, but later gets a real fine look. Hard.

He just re-signed for 2 years. He'll be playing in our 13 forwards.

I guess the question is who would pick him off waivers right now? Hasn't looked good, but older going through motions of another training camp.

Some decisions coming up, but that is likely the case with almost every team.

I'm hoping that's all it is. A vet going through the motions during some meaningless games. I'm hoping he'll elevate his game once the rest of the NHLers get out there.

Ho-sang vs. Engvall for that last spot.

Over the cap.

Why would Ho Sang play for the Marlies ? He'll just go back overseas and get paid again He's not playing for 5 figures in the AHL .

How much will they pay him to play for the Marlies?

Assuming there will be a bunch of cuts after the Blue and White game? Is that today?

There is no maximum for a pure AHL contract. If the they sign him to an NHL contract, it would have to be at $1.075M or less to be able to fully bury it. (he'd also need waivers)
Thanks. Safe to say he's not going to be getting the AHL minimum if the Leafs decide to send him down.

If someone wants to take the time to list which players need waivers and which don't that would be great. I'm assuming that many of the 'don'ts' will be sent down.

It would seem that the logical play would be to sign him to a "decent" AHL contract to start with and go from there. I'm not clear on the process of converting that to an NHL contract should the need arise at some point.
This gives them a chance to have a good long look at him to see if his "change" has actually been embedded. He and Robertson could be an excellent duo on the Marlies for another year.

I think and I may be wrong but if they eventually sign him to an NHL contract he would go through waivers on the way back up.

Looks like it.

With limited exceptions, any player who was subject to waivers before assignment to the minors must clear re-entry waivers before being called back up if said player is on a one-way contract or a two-way contract with an AHL salary in excess of $105,000.

Really like the structure the team has been playing with so far in the pre-season. Averaging fewer than 20 shots a game shows the kids are invested in playing both sides of the ice. I know we havnt been playing great offensive teams but we've barely been playing our top guys either. 5v5, PP, PK all look pretty good, new forwards are coming in as advertised for the most part and Mrazek looks great in net.
