Training Camp continued

Ive been out of the loop a little bit. Doesn't help that I have zero faith in this team regardless of what they do.

But can someone fill me in on who's the new players making the squad? Also how long is Tavares gonna be out

Yup. If Tavares is hurt they have to run 19 players on Wednesday. Assuming he cant go on LTIR.

If hes healthy then they won't be a man short, but no room for extras so Robertson is in the AHL either way.

Under the first situation he can be recalled for game 2 under emergency basis though.



Only after playing one game. Assuming Tavares is out but not on LTIR - for a bit. 19 players for game 1 (11 forwards) without Robertson.

NR or someone else comes up for game 2 for $0

He can stay up until Tavares is healthy enough to play is my understanding. So a few games likely.

Once Tavares is healthy he would have to go down (could come back if they decide to waive Malgin or NAK or someone else - or if someone else gets hurt).

Then even more complicated when Liljegren is back if there arent more injuries - theyd need a trade then.

You can keep him up as long as you need to. But once the 20 men are healthy something needs to happen

Well he may not be able to do that. But unlike any of the tough guys we waived today Malgin might be able to be an effective hockey player.

Simmonds fights other 4th liners/13th forwards a handful of times a year. How often is Matthews facing fourth liners? What coach is insane enough to want that matchup unless they're already down 5 goals? A Tkachuk/Wilson/Marchand isn't going to fight Simmonds.

Just put it into cap friendly. Put JT on IR and Liljegren on LTIR. After signing ZAR and sending Gaudette, Clifford, Simmonds down and keeping Malgin and Robertson the Leafs are over the cap by 717,000. And means the Leafs are running are running a 20 man roster with no healthy scratch call up possibilities on road trips. No idea what they will do. I’m not sure emergency call-up possibilities for Robertson would apply here would they?

Can use the same player for 9 games I believe throughout the season for emergency callups.
