FKA Roo Returns...Still A Contrarian Apparently
I'm not worried about Mika or Trochek. Part of it is by need/center depth but also part will get the message from Lav soon. They won't be perfect but they'll be fine.
Panarin hasn't been his usual happy go lucky smile and winking self this entire preseason. Lav was pushing him in practice and then he's day to day. The problem is, I don't think he has it in him to get to where Lav wants. He's moping. He was terrible last night, more so than Trochek or Laf. I think he's going to want out. This situation will be very similar to Torts/Gaborik from ten years ago, only it goes down next TDL due to length, cap hit, space the league will have.
To bring up more history, Quick is going to last about six weeks. He's finished. It's going to be Biron/Pavelec and Talbot/Georgiev all over again. Probably on that Alberta trip (and just because I'm there!), he's going to be embarrassed in whatever game he plays and Garand is up by jut before Thanksgiving.
Laf has had a brutal training camp. There's still time. It's not looking good though. There's a good chance he goes the way of Alexander Daigle who by all accounts had a decent NHL career and no one remembers the later part when he become a decent checking forward for Jacques Lemaire in Minnesota, but nowhere near a star. If he wants to prevent getting dealt he just needs to work hard and keep moving his feet, which is his biggest issue.
