I rather have a forward fight than being down to 5 dman for 5 minutes unless players go after Trouba for clean hits and Rangers get a powerplay out of it
So would I, but I've given up on logic and moved onto rooting for the team to not have to be stupid by circumstance.

If you don't have good grit they will get bad grit every single time.

Hence why Harpur will be here and Jones maybe traded. Doubt they'd risk losing him to waivers

This is the problem. The double standard and no accountability. The vets get the luxury of not giving a shit and lolly gagging and embarrassing themselves, their fans, and their team. And they can get away with it with no punishment. Pre season or not that's a shit attitude by the so called leadership.

Yet the kids will be benched, scratched, or cut if they make mistakes that have nothing to do with effort.

Same country club.

If they don't want to show up to the rink to play or practice (literally do their f***ing job) "because pre season" then they should be benched, scratched, no puck practices bag skating, whatever it takes to get the message across.

The organization replaced the entire coaching staff as well as other staff changes to get these guys moving their ass, showing up the the rink with the right attitude, and playing the right way, and they're still lazy as f*** and couldn't give two shits to be there. It's not the coaches. 3rd friggen coaching staff for this core and they're still the same lazy bunch of shits they've been for years.
It's preseason and vets do get slack in any organization over kids trying to make the team. Mika and Panarin were their 2 top scorers and nobody else was even close. FWIW Lavy was upset about last night's performance from the team. I'll wait until regular season games start to actually be upset.

Funny, because the entire board is on the verge of standing outside MSG with pitchforks and rotten tomatoes to demand Lafreniere get traded after a couple preseason games. So maybe we should all wait on that front too.

We should wait on both fronts. I dont see a reason to get worked up over either.

The Rangers get so much crap from this fan base for what they do and what they don’t do. Constantly. Every single thing that ends up in the “con” section gets magnified with a “same ole rangers” stamp. But there are a significant amount of things that this organization does right and those “pros” become evaporated almost as if they never happened. They have done so much right the last 15 years and yet i have to read nonsense like “scouting is different here”. Yeah scouting is what helped build that first core that went to the ECF 3 times in 4 seasons. They made shrewd moves to build those teams. Scouting & Timely moves is what brought a guy like Mika Zibanejad here. How about drafting Igor where we did? What about K’Andre Miller late in the 1st round, which I believe we traded up a few spots to make that selection. For every Lias Andersson pick, there is a Filip Chytil pick. It happens with most NHL organizations not named the Arizona Coyotes. You simply cannot be on the right side of every single decision. And here we are where some fans want to be upset with your proven Veteran Stars effort in a PRESEASON meaningless game, and other fans wanting to trade Lafreniere after 3 preseason games… i mean holy crap let the kid play it out longer in the top 6, hasn’t that what we have been hoping for and using as a crutch as to why his development has been slow??

FFS can it be October 12th already

nobody here actually knows what Laviolette's "system" is so nobody could truthfully answer that question

Only players I'd even consider trading Laffy for would be Zegras or Pettersson. Yes, it's unlikely.... at this point the org is not trading him for anything less.

I think

Add Trocheck. Seems like one spot to win between Cuylle/Othmann, Jones/Harpur each. Brod is the 13th if neither Cuylle or Othmann sticks

i think its great that a coach of this team has final called out their lackluster attitude. They show up like they have won the cup the last four season and they have won nothing. Honestly tired of the lazy tendancies of Mika, Panarin and Kreider. Because they are veterans and team leaders it does carry over to the ypunger players and think its a detriment to the team and development. I think of the leadership core Kreider, Mika, Panarin, Goodrow and Trouba everyone bitches about Trouba and Goodrow wanting them out but they are the two that honestly care the most. Its time that Mika, Kreider and Panarin get heat for not showing up to play
I agree in general but I also won’t read too much into some preseason games.

Not buying the vets taking their time.

Results can be inconsistent, effort needs to be consistent, be that preseason ot not.

Consistent effort today leads to consistent effort tomorrow, so on and so on.

To half ass it today with no accountability has the potential to lead to halfassing later.

From the "leadership" group, I find it embarrassingly pathetic that they can have that sort of mentality as they "lead" this group into 23-24

Its a good thing this team has stunk in the preseason.

This staff is completely aware they are throwing a new system at them, but as Lav said - it doesn't let them off the hook for poor effort, preparation or approach.

They'll nip this in the bud and everyone from the vets to the kids will understand the consistent effort needed to start and finish games.

It may take a while to build that culture up after Gallants country club scene, but its gonna start today with a set of grueling practices. They'll get what they wished for during last years exit interviews.

Im just glad there will be some semblance of accountability for the first time since Torts.

Curious to see Quick with Allaire. Reflex goalie too old to rely on reflexes, maybe he can catch a second wind working with the goalie jedi.
Obviously, its what its going to take.

The lateral movement (or lack thereof) just isnt there.

He was incredibly late going right to left on that wrap around goal. Wasnt even close.

That has been Quick's MO for his entire career though. He's a smaller goalie who plays uber aggressively. Part of it is on him, yes, but part of it has to be on the team to understand that is how he is going to play.

He also made some very good saves in the first 2 periods against the Islanders when the team was getting shelled. The loss was by no means on him
