what are the odds the Blues are much better than everybody thinks?

- The 4 lines look pretty solid, especially the top line which could be elite.
- The addition of Hayes looks very underrated. He’s a very a solid big bodied player
- Binny can be elite, just cant over work him
- Kyrou is ready for stardom. 100 point season is here
- Thomas (see Kyrou)
- can the new coaches turn the D into respectability? There’s definite talent there
- Can Vrana keep up the 35+ goal pace and build on last season?

There’s enough talent on this team to make the playoffs.

Jordan Kyrou and Scott Perunovich are tied for the highest +/- on the team this preseason with +4
Oh, preseason. You’re funny.

Didn’t Logan Brown lead the entire league in scoring last preseason?

Good win. From what I heard anyway…
Pretty pathetic we can’t get a basic feed to the games.

One negative - there were 51 faceoffs in this game and the Blues won 16 of them.

It’s not impossible, but would need a lot to go right.

And if they were -4 people would be screaming about how bad they are. There's no winning for them with the fanbase,

You really love to paint Kyrou as a victim on this board. It’s really not that serious.

No, but he is a whipping boy for a lot of posters and there are posters here who would be complaining if he was a -4.

I agree, it is the preseason and should be taken with a gain of salt. But, my first statement still stands.

I think this team has a huge potential variance in outcomes - I mean, we saw the proof over the last two years - We went from a 100+ point team to like an 80 point team or whatever we were. Our forwards should be in decent shape. We're no longer dragging around the corpse of ROR and Tarasenko, as much as those guys did for us in years past they weren't anything like their historical norms last year. BBshev is going to suck to lose, he was a swiss army nice with a nice pop of offense. Accari was great, but it's tough to get weepy over a 4C. I think Hayes will replace whatever Accari was bringing, and I think Vrana will replace at least what Tarasenko was bringing. Gotta hope that Thomas and Kyrou continue to grow, Buch is healthier, and perhaps one of the younger players starts taking strides into a larger role.

It's the D and the goaltending that's the real question. I know we harp on our D, and that's fair.....but I think many of us have overlooked the goaltending due to this. We are going into a season with a rookie for a backup goalie. He's looked super impressive up to this point, but it's been a small sample size and the grind of the NHL on rookies is real. Mix that with a starter in Binny who clearly plays better when getting more rest and you have a real potential for something to go off the rails if Hofer is ineffective or gets hurt.

I think this team could surprise a lot of people. Our Cup winning D was 100% about keeping teams to the outside with a large focus on puck retrievals and exits, while DOMINATING the home plate area in front of the net. We were among one of the worst teams last year in high danger chances, as well as forcing teams to give up possession of the puck at our blueline - a far cry from what we hung our hat on in 2019. With a shift in coaching and priorities, we could see a really solid bounce back.......or our D could prove for a fact that they're simply not very good.

God I'm so ready for the season to start, missing the playoffs suuuuuuucks b/c the off-season drags on forever.

Any chance Kessel make it ?
The NHL team? not this year unless injuries start piling up. He's most likely our 2nd man up from the AHL after Rosen. Next year when Scandella, Rosen, and Bortuzzo are gone, he's most likely be our 6th/7th ignoring any trades or signings between now and then.

I'm going to be that guy who asks a fantasy question on another team's board, but...what's a realistic expectation of how many games Hofer will play, especially early on?

IMO early on I would expect not many. They always have a habit of rising Binnington as hard as possible till he breaks. In the entire season Ideally I would see about 30 starts for Hofer.

What happened to Mathias Laferriere?
He’s still with the big club as far as I know, but as of a couple days ago was playing with the secondary grouping, which very likely means he’s on the outside looking in.

Somewhat surprising he’s lasted this long in camp but I expect him and quite a few others to head to the AHL (or waivers and then the AHL) in the next few days.

Thomas makes it 2-0!
Thomas already with 3 shots on goal. Maybe the Oates lessons are working?

More nifty passing by Thomas, Kyrou and Buch.

They almost all looked like Bortuzzo out there.

Early on. I will say going through November I think he gets at minimum 3 starts, but I think it will be more like 5-6 games in first 22 games.

I think he ends up with around 30 starts. I believer the Blues have 10 B2B games. Personally I think Binner will look better starting around 50 games than playing as much as he did last year.
