Perunovich played the goal really poorly. Not ideal when you're fighting for a spot but hopefully the coaches see the bigger picture.

This was the first preseason game ive watched and i agree Tucker’s skating looks improved.
He’s been improving it every year. His skating was a huge knock on him when he was first drafted and he’s made huge strides on it ever since.

I’m really rooting for him. Gotta appreciate a 7th round pick that has clearly put in the hard work to make it.

Bolduc, imho, played wonderfully this preseason. He has made a very visible step in his progress.
He has an uncanny ability to strip pucks from defenders below the red line and keep plays alive. His IQ, skating, and especially his shot are top notch. If he can keep up a consistent high effort/intensity level, the sky is the limit. That said, he needs some time to develop in the AHL IMO. Not ready yet, but man I like his potential.

Thought Alexandrov had nice game. I think he makes club after wake-up call.

Neighbours looks more comfortable offensively this year. Kid keeps getting better.

rosen really sloppy with the puck. I think it’s obvious last year was fluke and he’s not really an nhl player.

Thomas makes it 2-0!
Thomas already with 3 shots on goal. Maybe the Oates lessons are working?
Thomas had 5 goals on 12 shots in 4 games and a 41.67 shooting percentage in the preseason? Man Oates is good.

Obviously you can't say anything about that shooting percentage, but 12 shots in 4 games is nice to see from him. Last year he only had 106 in 73 games. I doubt he continues to double his pace from the previous year against real competition, but it is an encouraging sign that he's put the puck on net much more often so far.

Going to be an interesting 24-48 hours for the Blues.

13-8 or 14-7?

If we go 13-8, that means most likely Alexandrov or Walker will be the 13th forward since I think you would want a player that plays center as the 13th.

14-7, who would be the 2nd person cut on defense? Then you have Alexandrov, Walker, MacMac fighting for last 2 spots.

Pretty sure it's 13-8 with Alexandrov winning out

Yea it’s Alexandrov as the 13th forward.

Bolduc, Dean, Laferriere and RD Kessel are being sent down to the AHL.

Walker, MacEachern, LD Rosen and G Subban are going on waivers for the purpose of assigning them to the AHL.

Blues roster is the first roster set for opening night.

Agreed. No need to complicate things - should be easy decisions for DA.

Bolduc is the most pleasant surprise from camp for me. It was very exciting to see what he did without the puck on his stick this preseason. Definitely going to make it a point to watch as many Springfield games as I possibly can this season with the horses we have there.

There has been speculation on this board that Perunovich could be a replacement for Krug because he might be better defensively. I have seen absolutely nothing to justify this.

I've seen him make some good reads to intercept passes and his defensive skating is undoubtedly better than Krug's. I want him to get reps at the NHL level and hopefully he will learn what he can and can't get away with.

without watching the game, I see Tucker was -2 last night so he must have been brutally bad

did I do this right?

Rosen, Walker, and MacMac on waivers. We are running 13-8 with Sunny, Alexandrov, Torop, Neighbours and Blais rounding out the last top 9 spot, 4th line and press box. Rosen is the odd man out on D with Bortz, Scandella, Perunovich and Tucker rounding out the bottom 4.. I called it a week or so ago. Not that it was that hard to guess. It will be more interesting to see who gets the ice and who gets the press box oepning night.

I know you were joking. But he could have been better on all 3 goals he was out there for, but none were his fault. The first, he got caught flat footed on a turnover, and the forward blazed by him. You'd love to see him recover quicker, but the turnover wasn't on him. 2nd goal, he was kind of in no man's land. Bortuzzo had a guy tied up in front of the net on his side, so, he floated high to support the forward, and another forward moved toward the net uncontested and tipped the shot. I am not sure what he is supposed to do there, but I'd rather he have been close to home to contest that forward. Bortz was kinda taking his ice though with that battle. The last goal was on Perunovich who got beat like a drum. I would have liked more urgency from Tucker to pick the guy up but again, he was kinda caught flat footeed, not expecting the guy to just skate right by Perunovich while Perunovich was spinning in circles like the stop sign in a road runner cartoon.

supposedly he was going to step in and replace Dunn...but that's not really happening.

Krugs contract is the problem, not Krug.

If Krug was getting Perunovich money (almost) nobody would complain.

Pernunovich plus 5.75m in cap space is what is better the Krug.

Krug is definitely the better player, he isn't 5.75m better though.

Krug is a pp specialist. Faulk scored 50 in 82 last year while Krug scored 32 in 63 games. Faulk has a better per game scoring despite Krug spending more time on pp1. Just give him the top powerplay and ship out Krug. For more cap room. Develop a young dman on pp2.
