Hayes - big, smart, could make all-star appearance

hayes was cheap and is big, expectations aren't that high for his 3C-ness and i think he'll be right around those expectations

i hope he scores on at least 1 of the 100 shots he takes from a bad angle near the goal line

I’m not expecting huge things out of Hayes either but he does provide value and isn’t just a random plug.

I like what Army's done by bringing in vets who are in the stage of their career where it's probably the last chance they'll have to earn another big contract: Vrana, Hayes, Kapanen. All three could wash out with poor performances. Hopefully the hunger is there for all three.

If we can see that same drive from our young players already on long term deals it could be a scrappy, fun team to watch. Should be much more palatable than watching them coast most of the season last year.

not a huge surprise, but sounds like rosen is headed for cutsville:

Berube on Rosen: "His camp has been fine. Last year is last year, this is this year. Every spot has to be earned. That's got to play itself out. If he plays well enough, then he's going to be in a good spot to be in the lineup every night, and if you don't, then you're not. He did a great job last year. He scored some goals for us and did some good things offensively. In saying that he still has to be responsible defensively and really battling in our zone on people and pucks and breaking pucks out. That's really important stuff too."

Probably not. But it’s likely also an indication we were likely lucky to get a 1st for Tarasenko. IMO, he returned a 1st based on past reputation more than his actual recent play on the ice.

he seems to be having much better camp. coaches have been generally positive about him. he will almost certainly start season in ahl, but hopefully won't finish it there.

I have a strong feeling Bolduc, Kessel, and Dean are all going to end up in the NHL late this season or next.

lots of guys fighting for jobs need to be way better than they were in 1st period tonight- tucker, scandella, alexandrov, in particular looked rough. and hofer was bad too.
