Hall had inside position on Perunovich and Scotty was attempting to push him directly into Hofer.
That was not well played by Perunovich.
no he didn’t
Perunovich was between Hall and Hofer the ENTIRE time and had his stick tied up as well
he was between Hall and the Hofer the whole way through the play
there is even a overhead view of him doing this
Hall never at any point during the play had inside position

Woo, Kyrou is benched!

I'd heard a Lower Body Injury was sidelining Kyrou - if he's out for an extended period of time, we're going to have to win some much lower scoring games.

Not entirely sure we have the defensive talent and scheme to be winning with 1-3 goals a night in this higher scoring era. Having Kyrou out helps with the defence to an extent, but neuters our attack which will raise the pressure on both goalie and D-core, which hasn't worked well for us recently.

I was chatting with a long-time goalie pal of mine after the first preseason game about this. Hofer will overtake Binnington by the All-Star Break next season. Perhaps even during the second half of this season.

He look deceptively huge in the net. Positionally sound. He's not going to be the most exciting Blues goalie in history, but I see a solid, consistent starter for a long time. I really like what I've seen from Hofer so far.

hate to break it to you but the all star game is during the 2nd half of the season. Also, if he's able to take on a decent work load so we don't grind Binny into the ground as per the usual Berube style then I think Binny will be just fine.
Add another 0 to Oates' paycheck, I guess.

For scoring a preseason goal?

He’s fine, he was back at practice yesterday.

thoughts from last night's pre-szr

hofer generally looked good in the net, but was way too aggressive playing the puck, that dicey spin-o-rama pass (while in his crease) in the first to avoid the forechecker was not a good choice, he mishandled or missed a couple of his attempts to play the puck too, i don't know if he was too eager or just too confident but it was not re-assuring watching him try to handle the puck and fly out of the net so cavalierly to do so. hope the coaches straighten that out for games that count

thomas and buch looked great, neighbors struggled to keep up and pressure the net

ritchie may not be great at anything but disturbing the peace, but he clearly does that very well and plays coy after the shenanigans well too, have to think berube wants to keep that element around

liked the big hits and hard shots from hunter skinner (what a great name)

liked what i saw more from dean than bolduc, way more poise and control with the puck and when under pressure

alexandrov, macmac, and tucker were invisible

I'm fully aware of this, which is why I said by the All Star Break of next season, or perhaps even during the second half of this season.

To explain further, I don't expect him to win the job by the All-Star Break of this season.

Spend more time reading, less time trying to play 'gotcha' with every post.

Perunovich has made good plays, in my eyes, to get the puck up and out quickly. It’s something we sorely lacked, last year. When he got put on his heels tonight, he did well adjusting his stick/body position.

Bolduc was a mixed bag. He was late on the puck/positioning, but did a good job winning board battles and keeping plays alive. He’s looked dangerous around the puck, but overall very hard to read off of in the games I’ve watched.

Neighbors also had a chaotic game. He looked great making small plays with 18/89, but outside the cycle, he got caught trying to make plays to push the puck up and out. I would've also liked to have seen him make more of an effort to get open off the cycle...all eyes were on 18/89 and Neighbors couldn't find soft ice.

18/89, Hofer, Perunovich, Gaudette and…Hunter Skinner were the players, for me, that stood out positively.

This team needs to hit rock bottom before getting up again. Shame for guys like Thomas and Kyrou whom miss their prime years in Bad team.

things can turn around quickly in the nhl and Thomas and Kyrou are plenty young and will be key contributors when the Blues start their turnaround in 3 years. After this recent draft, I think we are headed in the right direction. Just stay the course.

I thought Berube would love Ritchie.

Somewhat surprised at Ritchie being released this soon. I thought he had at least outperformed Ratcliffe to this point. Ritchie brings an element the Blues lack but he also has a pretty bad weakness - he’s slow as molasses. And he doesn’t PK either.

The one guy on that list that really stood out to me is Duszak. Had never heard of him before. Looks like he signed with the T-Birds over the summer. He showed a lot of poise, smarts and is an effortless skater. 45 pts in 68 games in the KHL last season…but he’s a 5’9” d-man. If he was 5’11” or taller, I bet he’d be an NHLer. He was impressive IMO.

Agreed on Duszak, he was fantastic last night. Had to look him up after the game cause I had never heard of him.

I’m surprised Ritchie was released this quick, as I thought he would provide some depth. But the knock on him has always been that he’s dumb on the ice, and he didn’t do himself any favors by getting kicked out of a preseason game by not tying his jersey down. That’s just a dumb mistake when you’re on a PTO.

How nice would it be if we actually had something in Skinner
He looked good, I was not expecting that.

It would be hilarious if he became an NHL player. We need to call the Rangers first anytime we are looking to make any type of trade lol.

It’s also worth noting Gaudette was placed on waivers so he’ll likely be heading to Springfield tomorrow once he clears.

Rivers said Ritchie was essentially coasting in practices and not pushing as hard to secure a spot. Said he was told he was a little out of shape
God our media here sucks. Rivers on the radio has been acting like Ritchie was performing well and would make the team all week. Strickland and others doing the same thing.

And now that he’s released, suddenly the script flips and we get different info.

We don’t really have a single media guy here who actually knows what’s going on. They all just form their opinions based on whatever Armstrong does.

We don't actually have any media that has team connections that are willing to say anything. So all er have are a bunch of guys that know less about hockey than most posters here writing articles based on their best guess.

There not going to be any video coverage of the game tonight, is there?
