Bourgault was a stud at the mem cup. Not sure how it'll translate, but he's one of those guys where it seems the only thing he may be missing is elite foot speed. Brilliant creativity, gritty, and a real great shot.

Not sure how intended this? His rough go round was a freak injury at center ice. I liked that he was stepping up and hitting in the neutral zone, but then he took a weird injury stepping up on a routine hit

The whole attraction to this player is his physicality. Hopefully he resumes his tenancy for predatory hits, I would love to see a Trouba style game from him

The hits he attempts and gets out of position will work themselves out with experience, but we want a headhunter on this current group imo
Lightweight ranking. I hope he put on a few pounds this summer.

I don’t claim to know a dawn thing about our prospects but from what little I’ve seen of Borgault over the last week, he’s a keeper. He looks like he’s going to be a steal. So please people keep him out of your nasty trade proposals.😬
Draisaitl probably prefers Holloway and Bourgault rookies as his wingers over what he has had the past 4/5 years

That old guy with the beard who scored at the end of the clip looks like he has some skill!
I love Drat’s hustle and finish on that last one!

Man, he’s got such an “ugly” stride / gait it’s amazing how effective of a skater he actually is

I thought that Kulak and Barrie were an affective pair together. Maybe someone could chime in with data. If that is true, it opens up some good opportunities for us. We could run a top big minute pairing with Nurse a decent 2nd pair and a softer minute pair

Nurse - Ceci
Kulak - Barrie
Samo / Broberg - Bouchard

edit - thank God we signed Ceci. Our defence would be in a world of hurt without him

Personally I think the best alignment to start would be:

Nurse - Bouchard
Kulak - Barrie
Samo/Broberg/Murray - Ceci

Nurse with Bouchard because Nurse is best when he gets to be the defensive conscience on the pairing and it allows Bouchard to experience those crucial moments to see if he can handle it. If it can, let it ride, if not work in some contingencies such as having Murray play with Bouchard in lower leverage moments.

Kulak with Barrie because they worked well together last year

Ceci with the younglings because he's likely in the best position to be the leader on a pairing that plays from the right side. However, Ceci gets some additional minutes with Nurse especially in games Edmonton is defending a lead later in the game.

Thought we signed Josh Bailey for a second. Who the f*** is Justin Bailey?

I think Ceci has proven that he is important enough that he needs to spend important minutes on one of the top 2 pairings. I'd use Kulak or Barrie down on the last pairing to do some babysitting.

Bailey was a damn good junior hockey player during his time here. The type of player you thought might well out perform his mid to late second round status. Big, fast , good shot with a great work ethic and lots of leadership skills. Somehow none of this translated to the NHL. But he'd be a solid addition in BAK.

A decent depth forward in the organization.

I read elsewhere that what's holding him back is his hands. I think they were described as quite possibly the worst in the NHL but you know how the internet is with hyperbole.

Good AHLer for sure and potential for more if he somehow learns how to handle the puck.

That was not the case when he was with the Rangers. He was a guy who was projected to be a low risk pick with some decent offensive potential. He was never a big playmaker but he had a bit of a goal scorer's touch.

I see he did sign an AHL contract with the Condors. That is where he probably ends up and that should be a plus for BAK.

Probably partying it up with Beibs wearing some Supreme gear and working on his brand
Is he Lupul's son or something? That guy was big on fashion)))
I am very excited to see Bourgault again. The first thing that popped into my head watching him for the first time was how strong he was on his skates in the corners.

Yep.

Even though the team likes Broberg, I think Samorukov takes the #6 spot this fall. Doesn't hurt his chances that he fills a need/complements the other 5 main defencemen better. Plus Broberg, Niemo, Desharnais are all wavier exempt, so there's no risk to sending them down.

How I see the defence at the moment...

Nurse-Bouchard
Kulak-Ceci
Samo-Barrie

The left side's pecking order is clear, though the entire right side is fluid imo. I could see all of the RHDs playing on any of the pairings. Only clear part is Ceci's pairing is going to be the shutdown one. so I think you start him with Kulak for some stability, but then swap in Samo (or Niemelainen) once he gets comfortable at the NHL level.

If they can figure out the cap, I also wouldn't be surprised to see the Oil break camp and play with a 11-7 set up again.
Don't see it. I think this line-up is more likely, unless they want Broberg to play big minutes in the AHL.
Nurse-Ceci
Kulak-Bouchard
Barrie-Murray
Broberg
