I’ll say it where I’m concerned this season more than anything?

Laviolette

Regular Season AV

Quinn

It seems like every season that we need a coach, Laviolette is available but we choose someone else. I wanted Lavi instead of Torts. I wanted Lavi instead of AV.

Outside of a slam-dunk Adams candidate, I would rather have a developmental coach from the Tom Renney school. I whole-heartedly believe that Quinn is that "Mr. Right Now" for us.
We need to develop for 2 or so more seasons before we need to find "Mr. Right." When is Lavi's contract up? :naughty:

If KK, Kravtsov and even to a lesser extent Gauthier develop, it would seem the Buchnevich would be the most likely to be traded, no?

I don't foresee Gauthier taking that leap forward this year, and possibly never will. He's more of a finisher, and hasn't scored an NHL goal yet.
Kravtsov is looking good so far, but he hasn't played an NHL game yet.

As long as there's no trade protection, I'm willing to give Buch a "good contract for both sides" at the end of the season, if not sooner. One of those two question marks needs to turn into an exclamation point before we explore moving on from Buch. (I'm absolutely loving how goofy he is as cherry on top of how he's grown as a player.)

Our division is wide open for the taking for every team other than NJ.

I do think that the Caps are the most likely to be a lot worse than people are expecting. Even with the coaching change, Lavi's not really a good fit for the roster they have. Honestly Pittsburgh isn't all that scary either.

Philly is probably the most well rounded team in the division but their stars are kind of old and their coach is a moron. It should really be some order of them or Boston up at the top and the rest of the non Devil teams fighting it out for those last 2 spots. I mean Buffalo is Buffalo, but they've gotta show some improvement soon right?

I'm more worried about some of the vets than I am of the Rooks and ELC players.

Notably Kreider and Panarin and to a lesser extent Zibanejad. Kreider got his pay day so I'm hoping that hasn't given him comfort to coast and Bubble hockey Panarin looked like 2015 MSL and I really hope that was just rust. No one knows whats up with Zibanejad so thats some cause for concern, but if hes skating hes probably alright. If those 3 are fine, we'll be more than fine.
I don't expect people to believe he said, she said, but my friend trains Varlamov and Panarin was supposed to be training with them once the lockdown was lifted. And word was because Panarin was upset about escrow he showed up but didn't skate or work out and was enjoying a bit of vodka. Whether this is true or not it could explain why he was a non factor in the bubble. I am not worried about him going forward and he's been saying the right things.

this is my only real disappointment thus far. I thought Morgan would come in much more polished and ready. So he’s got some work to do. He’s better than this for sure and I do believe we’ll see him soon enough

So that did change. I guess I can share now that he did take about 2-3 tests and hadn't tested positive in them.

That's scary shit and shows you how crazy all of this is.
This is why I have trust issues.

He played like he was drunk so I believe it.

That doesn't really sound very Panarin like though.

He's gotten very little chance so far to show if he's capable. Maybe some of that is his fault, maybe it just hasn't worked out as his time yet. Regardless, he should get a chance to start showing whether or not he can hack it rather than being stuck getting 4th line minutes.

It's gotta happen soon. Eichel and Dahlin are too good.

We all just expect them to shit the bed every year now, but they're going to go full 2009-10 Coyotes one of these seasons.

Can't win many games with just 2 good players.

True, that's an exaggeration, they have more than just those two guys, but realistically every team has some fantastic players and it takes more than just having those guys surrounded by mediocrity

Wow was driving home and the radio made it sound like he just tested positive. glad he is ok and this is from earlier.

Honestly think them shutting down his chances of getting a title at Cornell, being off the ice in a competitive fashion for a while and this being his first camp kinda of screwed things. Think if he was able to work with the team before the bubble like Miller it would've helped get his feet wet. That was a big plus for K'Andre.

I agree though, he will push for a spot in season and once he gets some games in the A.

That is a lot of "ifs". Lett's go on the assumption that Kakko is exactly who we believe he is and gets to that point sooner rather than later. So now you are left with Kravstov and Gauthier? The next goal that Gauthier scores will be his first. He is one of those players who are going to be looking at "up or out". Is he even top-6 material? Maybe, possibly one year. But right now? Not even close. And there is nothing to indicate that top-6 production is coming anytime soon. Kravstov? Again, even if we ass-u-me that he becomes what we all hope he becomes, that might not be for another 3-5 years. He has yet to play a second of NHL time so believieng that he is ready to push Buchnevich is quite a stretch.

Fact is, for at least the foreseeable future, I see no real competition for Buchnevich on the right side. Kreider COULD switch, but there has been no attempts at that in camp and it is entirely debatable if he would be successful at it.
