Unbelievable footage from camp today. Couldn’t tell who it is. Think it’s Panarin

at around 55 second mark that is a great view. Chytil looks like he actually loses control and Lafreniere wastes no time on following up and maneuvering around 2 players then making a tremendous pass. Nice vision :thumbu:

I hope LAF got a tongue lashing for that pass. The puck is on his forehand and he's just outside the slot in a high danger zone. That pass fails 95% of the time, through three defenders to boot!

Chytil's issue is he doesn't use his wingers enough which makes him predictable and easier to defend. A give and go here or there would help him create space for himself imo

tbh I think he has often outskated his wingers, a little Gomez like on the rush. Gets through the neutral zone quickly but then needs to pull up and look for help rather than just try to take it to the net all the time

He's still a puppy although it feels like he's been around forever. He's a very old 21 if that makes any sense.

That's the next step in his evolution, his passing. If he can improve that he'll easily be a 2c and maybe develop into a 1c. if not, he's going to have a career very similar to Anisimov.

He should train one summer in Pilsen and just pay Marty Straka to pass the puck back and forth at high speeds in all kinds of crazy ways for 2-3 hours a day.

Nylander Jagr Straka. Those dudes must of had money on the board for tic tac goals.

Any unexpected players looking to have a chance? PGD, Khodo, Richards, Ruesch, Rooney?

They had some of the best chemistry of any line in Rangers history. You could put them up against The GAG Line, Messier-Graves-(insert winger depending on year), Kissio-Ogrodnick-Mullen.

Would love for Chtyil to work with all three. Wonder if JJ would be interested. Straka seems like more of a teacher type and I'm guessing Nylander went back home to Sweden. It feels like five years ago he was an active player but it's been more like 13-14.

I’d say PGD and Rooney are F 13/14
Barton likely gets a shot until the AHL starts anyway
Richards hasn’t played yet and haven’t heard anything mentioned on the others yet

Expectation is NYR will try to get Rooney, Blackwell enough games to meet required expansion-draft thresholds. Same w Bitetto and/or Hajek.
~55 over 2 seasons or ~28 this

oh gawd if Hajek gets picked for expansion, Howden better become a mega 3C otherwise we're going to hear about the McD/Miller trade more than we already do.

I don't think they'll need to get both Rooney and Blackwell with enough games. Don't think they'll be able to protect all of Gauthier, Howden, Lemieux and Strome so one of them will go towards the requirement as well.

Assuming they aren't trading away any of Panarin, Zibanejad, Kreider, Buchnevich or Chytil, they can only protect 2 of Howden/Lemieux/Strome/Gauthier.

Rooney and Blackwell may not even be needed to meet expansion draft requirements

If Lundkvist keeps trending as he has been, I think a lot of people won't care. And there are many things that don't happen if we don't make that trade. For example, Panarin probably isn't a Ranger right now.

It's funny how much shit Howden gets, yet no one says anything about Gauthier, who is 7 months older and has much less on his NHL resume.

Chytil had more points in less games last year, but everyone seems to forget that 9 of those points came in his first 13 games, not coincidentally the games that Zibanejad missed. He had 14 points in the other 47 games he played. Yes, he is younger than Howden, but he was no more effective when playing in the bottom 6.

Our bottom 6 was terrible last year, and yes, Howden had something to do with that. but it's not like he was the only one not producing. Haley, Andersson and DiGi combined for 6 points in 59 games. McKegg had 9 points in 53 games. Smith had 8 points in 62 games, mostly playing on the 4th line.

Assuming Kakko works on the Panarin line and the 3rd line steps up this year with the addition of Laf, we should be a deeper team up front. I don't now how much time Howden will spend on the top 3 lines, but if he does get time, I would bet his production will be improved.

Yeah, think they'll want one of them in case of a trade of Buch or Strome, but two would be unnecessary I think.

And the backup plan to getting Bitetto the games he need would be, I imagine, signing Smith to a 1-year deal.
