no JT Miller on training camp roster.

i love that Michael Haley is on the roster.... i think he has to go through waivers if he gets sent down...

The Rangers training camp roster is expected to look something like:

Goalie: Henrik Lundqvist, Martin Biron

Defense: Marc Staal, Dan Girardi, Ryan McDonagh, Michael Del Zotto, Anton Stralman, Stu Bickel, Steve Eminger, Matt Gilroy.

Offense: Rick Nash, Brad Richards, Marian Gaborik, Ryan Callahan, Arron Asham, Brian Boyle, Carl Hagelin, Jeff Halpern, Taylor Pyatt, Mike Rupp, Derek Stepan, Chris Kreider, Michael Haley, Marek Hrivik, Chad Kolarik.

i dont understand why didnt they invite Miller to camp.. i know its a short camp but he can learn a thing or two from some of the Rangers.. i dont like this at all.

Believe he is on a 2way contract for this year. One way deal next year. Not sure if he is waiver exempt, but believe so as he has only played 43 games in the NHL thus far.

So why was Hrivik on the training camp roster? Do the Rangers feel he is that ready??? Another player that is his first full year pro...

If you clicked on the link above, you would have seen that one of the journalists covering the team said they thought Tortorella was interested in him. But, I wouldn't read too much into it--most likely they are just interested in seeing how well he skates and practices with the NHL players. This way they have an idea of where he fits in case a player needs to be called up during the season.

I agree with Miller's no call up. It doesn't make sense. Torts is all serious business right now and he's been drawing up plans all lock out long and you'd have to think he's ready to push as hard as HE THINKS the team can be pushed and so any extra pieces at camp will only fall out of his plan. It's not a training camp. It's NYR practice camp.

Edit: Hrivik is on the roster? In that case, he must be at least ready then if Torts is okay with that.

Each team plays: 4 games vs. two Divisional opponents (8); 5 games vs. two divisional opponents (10); 3 games vs 10 Conference rivals (30).

I hope we get the Isles and Debbies for those 5 gamers... maybe Philly's good too.

Philly is banged up right now. Would love to get the devils for 5 games. Wouldn't care if it was PHI or NYI for the other 5. I hate the Flyers.

I don't care who we get some long as we go 5-0 on them

With the way Hartnell and the Flyers feel right now, I don't think they want to draw 5 games against us. Would love to go 11-0 against them in two seasons with a "YOU CAN'T BEAT US" chant.

The Flyers should have made it to the SCF :(
10-0 in one season. *regrets*

That would be 13 in a row against them. Isn't gonna happen.

Hrivik is 2 years older. Makes a big difference.

By that theory Newbury should be already on the team since he is 30. Age dont mean much. I mean some players debut at 26 27 28 after years in the minors.

Hrivik is a prospect. Newbury isn't. The Rangers want Miller to get some more seasoning. Do you really need that explained?

you would think due to travel Rangers get Devils and Islanders but what do I know, they may mix it up

I think your right, Haley has a two way this yr so he can be sent down while next yr its a one way. If Rupp is gone next yr with a buyout then Haley makes more sense

I imagine if no vet is brought in then Haley is the spare this yr

That's not how it works, it's different from the NHL videogame. Two-way I believe means that this year, if in the AHL, he won't make his full salary (he'll get a percentage). Next year, he'll get his entire salary regardless of which league he plays in.

That's right but it's not a percentage. Two way deal includes a NHL salary and ahl salary and guy gets paid ahl salary while in minors

I don't think travel would play that large of a role, especially in the Atlantic, since everyone is so close anyway. Philly isn't that far either. The farthest one would be the pens. No complaints here if we don't have to see them as much.

There are plenty of FA's still to think about coming into training camp. There's Mike Knuble, Radek Dvorak, Eric Fehr, Jesse Winchester, Jason Arnott, Petr Sykora, Johnathan Cheechoo, Byron Bitz, and Chris Campoli to name a few. Still believe Kurtis Foster and Cody Franson haven't gotten a contract yet.
