I'd have to hold my breath the entire game. It's a good thing Artie isn't here anymore, imagine him crossing the blueline with his head down like he used to while McIlrath was on the ice? Oh boy :shakehead

At least Pashnin isn't with the Whale too, dude would be hip-checking people left and right

Do you remember that prospects camp he came over for and he was literally just running around wrecking people....

Wasn't bad thinking, Sather fell in love with the kid. Really want him to come to NA and see what he can do on a small rink regularly. Lord knows Hartford could use another capable D-man right now.

Pashnin was hardly an AHL capable defenseman, let alone an NHL defeseman.

A combination of some positive reports from beat writers and the title of "KHL 1st overall pick" put Pashnin in highly undeserved territory.

The fact of the matter is he wasn't that good.

Just a thought here, but why not try Callahan as a left winger? This way you can have Gaborik and Nash on the right side. We all know he's defensively responsible, what's the worst thing that can happen?

Im 80% sure torts used him on the left side a few yrs back and he wasn't nearly as effective as he was on the right

It doesn't make any sense, solve any problems or even change anything?

Nash is primarily a LW, Callahan is a RW. If Torts said he wants Nash on the RW, how would:

Callahan - Richards - Nash

make sense? LW on the right, RW on the left. Why?

Also, whether Callahan plays left or right, the problem still remains that four of the top-six are occupied by Richards, Stepan, Gaborik and Nash. That leaves two spots open for Kreider, Hagelin and Callahan. Doesn't matter which side Callahan plays, someone is getting bumped down to the third line.

The notion that Torts has said he wants Nash on the right (which may be taken out of context as it may have been a temporary thing until Gaborik was healthy, which he now is) would suggest that your RWs are Gaborik, Nash, Callahan. Your LWs are Hagelin, Kreider, Pyatt. I'm not at all convinced Nash will play the right though, now that Gaborik is back, but switching Callahan to the left doesn't solve the log jam. If they want Callahan and Nash both in the top-six, Nash will simply play LW. There will still be an odd-man out between Hagelin, Kreider, Callahan.

And none of this matters since the lines change on a shift by shift basis on this team.

Personally, I just don't think it would work. Callahan's style of play just wouldn't be as effective on his off-wing. He's a north-south player, he needs to be on his strong side from an offensive standpoint.

yeah i'm not seeing the point of playing nash and cally both on the wrong sides, it'd be different if nash was strictly a rw.

He's boys with McD and Step too I think. Played on a pairing with with McD, if I'm not mistaken. Not that he'd be as likely to here with the McD-G thing going on (though G can play with Staal) but still cool.

Correct. Cally's cycle play and work along the boards is better suited playing on his proper wing side. He isn't a rush up the ice, cut in and shoot type of player.

Rumors on the main boards that the Canes may be looking to move McBain. If so, I hope the Rangers are in on that....

price might be too high but i'm definitely interested in those talks...

am i remembering it wrong or was he partners with mcdonagh at wisconsin?

JMHO, but I wouldn't mind seeing Cally on the 3rd line with Boyle as a real shutdown line. Kreider and Hagelin could play the top 2 LW positions and Nash and Gabby both on the right.

Hoping Hrivik can impress and add some skill to the bottom 6. Anything to limit having to play two of Rupp/Haley/Asham. Although I think Haley will be a pleasant surprise for a 4th line energy guy.

Also really hoping McIlrath finds his legs in Hartford and is a late season call-up for the bottom pairing. Then I won't feel as bad as I watch Tarasenko lighting it up in St. Louis.

FWIW, yesterday it came out that Hrivik is concussed and not in camp.
