The Canes have

Pitkanen - Faulk
Gleason - Corvo
Harisson - Murray

They seem to think Murray is ready and is one of the young guys they want to clear a spot for. The just signed Corvo this summer. All of Faulk, McBain, Corvo and Murray are RH. Faulk and Murray are both likely better than McBain. He's the odd man out.

Hagelin/Kreider - Richards - Nash
Hagelin/Kreider - Stepan - Gaborik
Pyatt - Boyle - Callahan
Asham/Haley/Rupp - Halpern - Asham/Haley/Rupp

I really don't like that RW overload. Someone will barely see the ice in important situations. Stupid.

It still makes no sense to trade a good player because you think a prospect may be ready and because you're banking on Joe Corvo - especially if you are trying to make a serious run. Why deplete depth for prospects?

Now if you are dangling McBain to land a similarly young & talented forward, I would see the argument.

Not all important situations are the same. Defensive zone faceoff? Don't really NEED Gabby out. Might want Cally, Nash and Richards though? Nash shifts to LW. Down a goal, late, offensive zone draw? Nash, Richards, Gabby. Protecting a lead? Richards, Hagelin, Cally? Not all situations are equal, so that's a silly reason to dismiss the overall configuration based upon.

So under the new CBA the Rangers could potentially trade him and keep some of the salary on they're books, is that correct?

I will appreciate all the Simpsons jokes we can make if we get McBain.

details aren't all clear since cba hasn't been released on how it will work but that is believed to be true...

based on reports we can retain up to 50% of his salary/cap hit...the catch though is that we need it to be 100% off next year. we are better off carrying him this year and then buying him out then retaining 50%. so question is can you retain for a single year or is it for the life of the contract.

What are you talking about? In "important situations" you can shake up the lines. You do know that teams routinely break up lines during "important situations" in games, correct?

Dave Maloney tweeted that MSG will be televising the NYR Training Camp live on Wednesday.

NYR back on MSG next Wed. Live from camp! Mark it down!#NYR

I wouldn't worry about the lines... Tortorella likes to mix and match constantly... The opening day lineup could easily be way off 7 min into the first period.

Yea speculating on lines is fun but also about as innacurate as it gets because coaches always tweak for a shift here or there. SOmeone fights, someone sucks, someone looks great. It's about consistency though and if Nash, Gab and Cally are all RW one will have to consistently be shorted ES compared to others.

It may work though if all three lines are viable and they certainly have a shot to be. I don't believe in the theory that any particular line combo is bad. For a time a line of Shelley-Anisimov-Prust played like our number 1 line and got rewarded time appropriately. Line juggling Jonno won't dissappoint

Nah, you are talking about the last shift of a game.

You don't want to move a winger from one side to the other with 10 minutes left of the third (that really screws up any rotation).

And Torts really matches his lines, at times he starts turning to Callahan as early as in the 1st period for the shifts mentioned.
